The Eritrean government, due to serious shortage of hard currency it faced, has this week banned the sale of gas to the public, reliable sources in Asmara disclosed. The government has also taken measures to possess and own all NGO vehicles. The source indicated that security forces were randomly pulling over private-owned vehicles at check points, attempting to seize them as well. The government is also expected to halt the movement of government-owned vehicles drastically. Paralyzed by a crumbled economy, the government has not been able to supply distributors with the required gas for sometime now.
