JAFFA, Israel — An Israeli rights group said Wednesday that Bedouin smugglers in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula have raped dozens of African women who they promised to smuggle into Israel over the past year.
Eritrea has reopened its mission to the African Union, ending years of self-imposed exile from the continental organization.
Bedouin smuggling gangs are holding over a hundred African migrants for ransom in the Sinai desert. BBC’s Rupert Wingfield-Hayes has had rare access to smugglers close to the Israeli border.
