ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) – Ethiopia warned on Saturday it would take “all measures necessary” against Eritrea, in a rare threat of direct action against a neighbour it routinely accuses of supporting rebel groups.
An Ethiopian Diaspora media, Ethiopian Review, reports that top leaders of the armed opposition groups Ethiopian People’s Patriotic Front (EPPF) and Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) have been arrested by Eritrean government forces.
Al-Nahda was aware that the Ethiopian official handling the Eritrean case in the Foreign Department of the Ethiopian Ministry of Interior received, in his office in Addis Ababa, the EPDP delegation headed by Mr. Woldeyesys Amar and included his deputy, Mr. Hamid Ramadan Dirar and others.

State radio reported yesterday that the opposition is “covertly and overtly” collaborating with neighboring Eritrea ahead of elections on May 23. Ethiopia and Eritrea fought a 1998-2000 border war that left as many as 70,000 people dead and the two countries’ armies remain deployed along their border.
