Wedi Tikabo has been sent abroad by the PFDJ along a group of artists for propaganda shows, which the regime often uses to dissuade the decline of its support base among Diaspora Eritreans.
In light of the recent Lampedusa tragedy, which shocked the whole nation and the world, excluding the regime in Asmara, Yohannes Tukabo’s decision was both timely and morale.

In the middle of our mourning from the loss at Lampedusa here comes word saying ‘Breaking news’ and an artist is feared to have left the group on tour. There was very little said and more detail to be given later. That does not say much about the whole issue. But, the group kept its tour to go on as if nothing has had happened. The damage has already been done.
Yes, he is an artist. At the same time he was manipulated by the regime like many other artists before him. As a result, PFDJ milked him to the maximum against the interests of the wider population. Deep down he knows he has been used as PFDJ’s propaganda tool. At this particular juncture in Eritrea’s history he must have realized to whose interest he must use his talent. Okay, let us say he made the decision to side with the majority once and for all. Please, allow him the benefit of the doubt and refrain from any unfriendly gestures towards him. If we are patient, keep watching what his action is going to be like in the months to come. Let him prove for us what he is all about now. As the saying goes,”Rome is not built in a day but the idea of building Rome came in a day.”
It sad to hear how many husbands and wives stand on opposite sides of the Eritrean political spectrum. Within the family, such differing views filter throughout their day-to-day interactions and all the time. Yet, they live under the same roof airing their opposite view points which become harmful and damaging to the relationship. It is not normal! Imagine children who live in such households/parents and the confusion they are forced to experience from these antagonistic relationships parents have. In particular, for children in their young minds the formative years are critical and parents must take notice. These types of parental relationships turn to be damaging when children learn most. In the end, for the couple the relationship becomes unsustainable and break-up follows. No wonder how many failed marriages are seen here in exile? Are couples ready to break up their ‘Home’ for an ideology back home which is bankrupt from the get go? Where is the love? The family is the cornerstone for any country. A healthy family relationship is the foundation for nation building. Save your children in order to salvage the nation of Eritrea!

The Eritrean families have been the target of the dictator and PFDJ system from the get go. The dictator has been using divided and conquered system to break up the Eritrean nuclear family for 22 years. He recruited a family member to spy on his or her own family. Turning family members against own family is the classic way of governing as a dictator. There is also the bold action he has been implementing, taking the Eritrean father away from his childern and his wife. Eritrean childern are being raised by single mothers; It is not because Eritrean fathers are deadbeat fathers, but because of the dictator and PFDJ’s social engineering. To creat a dysfunctional and ruthless members of socity, one has to dismantle the family unit. When we read the American history of black Americans, We find evidenced of social engieering during slavery. Blacks were denied from having families. Family were broken up for the purpose of total control. As we know, legal slavery has been over 200+ years ago. However, the black American family still suffers from lack of unity. The dictator’s hope and aspiration is to creat long-lasting dysfunctional Eritrean family. This should be concerning issue for all of us. If we can’t agree on every things, we should be able to agree on keeping the Eritrean family intact. I ask the dictator and PFDJ’s system supporters to think hard about the risk of creating dysfunctional socity out of the Eritrean family. People need to think hard about their action; it is easy to mold a dysfunctinal socity, but it is hard to get rid of it. It will take down many generations. We can do something about it right now. We can get rid of the dictator, the PFDJ’s system and implement rule of law. We have the chance to fix the problem. The dictator and the PFDJ’s system had done lots of damage to our country, but the lose of strong family unit is far worst than any damage. We have to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
