There is no formal constitution, and every male starting at age 18 must enter “national service,” which is forced labor of indefinite length (evaders are jailed or killed). People with unsanctioned religious beliefs are imprisoned and tortured, as are journalists and activists. More than 50,000 Eritreans have escaped to refugee camps in Ethiopia. Western officials allege that Afewerki is aiding Al Qaeda–linked militants in Somalia.

incomplete information
The ranking is not fair. The organization in charge of raking seems had no enough data to evaluate the dictators.It did’t display even few of Isayas’s crime.Had the organization with adequate information about the current situation of Eritrea and it people Issayas would be #1 Dictator plus devil.

What is important is not the mathematical or scientific accuracy if Isaias Afewerki is first or second. The issue at stake is why his name appeared among the top. For any sensible Eritrean that alone should be a cause for a serious concern. Even those who support him, if they care for the nation, should question “why?”. Some will surely repeat the same old rhetoric: “this is a fabrication of Woyane and CIA”. It is high time they stop fooling themselves, before it is too late. For us Eritreans, in and out, we do not need any proof. We know that he is the worst dictator that Eritrea has ever witnessed. Undoubtedly these publications are cause of panic to the dictator and his circle, more than anybody else. He played around with fire for too long and now things are already blowing on his face. If Isaias and HGDEF betrayed Eritrea, God will never!

If you are at least to my age, do you remember in 1994?
they called all villagers to one photo station to capture their image in order to prepare the PFDJ membership card. there was no any mobilization and discussions to brief what is party what it is used for…… so and so forth.
do you get surprised what I tell you that I was told to go to the photo station to get an other new identity card.not the PFDJ membership card. at that time I cannot tell that I was very surprised by the selfish and deceiving behavior of the government.
for now it is enough for you how it is formed the so called PFDJ party. but if you ask how he is working now? just it is used to charge monthly contribution some money from the people no more than that.
and please try to follow what is really happening in Eritrean from our brothers and sisters living inside Eritrea.

We don’t get bothered by such silly ranks as we are very familiar with it, it might sound a new for you guys but for us we know that Eritrea and PIA have been put in the list of the bad names since the day Eritrea announced its self-reliance policy,infact such news make us more closer to our beloved brother(btsay)cos we understand that every successful leader who opposes their agenda is a devil,to mention some(nijad,saddam,albashir etc) but the alikes of Mubarak, al asad, zenawi etc are angels, so sister its not a lack of data but they have nothing to produce to defame him other than these sick info which has been taken from the haters and desperate asylum seekers.

unfortunately I always dislike any comment to point finger to woyane and CIA. Because the dictator used this tactic to divert the real situation in our country and to disgiuse the crimes he is committing. therefore let us forget the WOYANE and CIA. these to evils never think good of any country and people. but they want to take the advantage of our crises. and we never know what their actual relationship with the dictator, we should not be deceived by what they talk in the media. so let us ignore them and raise the facts happening to our people and teach each other how to be knowledgeable about many tricks that originates from the dictator and some opportunists even among us who seem against the dictator but who work for their own advantage. if we stay discussing facts we may be better people after the downfall of the dictator.

Sorry, i found this comparison unfair and unacceptable. How can someone ranking dictator Isayas behind Kim il Sung? Atleast dictator Kim Il Sung and alikes except Isayas are all come to power through every four or five years normal elections and through publicly ratified constitution, weather the other world call it their elections fair or not, or accept or not. Additionally despite I know I am comparing the beautyness among monkey´s, I can say these dictators,except Isayas they have achieved a lot for development of their nations and for giving higher education to their people. It is also possible to say they are too loyal and working more or less with rule of low with relativing jungle lowless Eritrea´s regime, because their youngsters and the employees for instance , they have normal life, they studying what ever they like, they have possibility for marriage who ever they love etc atleast … and the employees also get normal salaries. So by no means the Eritrean dictator should to be able comparable with humanbeing dictators, his position should suppose to compare with animal kingdoms to where he belong only. because the regime is lowless like animal. Even I guess the hyena animal kingdom might have better its own rule.

Probably dictatorship is part of human being or a selfish inner side which believes that self is always right.In spite of many advisors, dictators they tend to listen to their inner side.We have seen many dictators in this planet, they are always corrupted by they have over their people. Issias is not different from them but there is unique situations where we should be worried, Eritrea does not have rule of law or what ever called constitution. One of the most important tools to cultivate democracy and transparency is by the ability of the country in creating strong institution such as Parliamentary,judiciary and executive bodies.Rule of law is the most important tool for the people to have a normal life in their daily activities business,social situations , relationship between the people and government and other bodies. DIA is intentionally destroying those attributes by replacing by his own game.

The notoriety of Ato Isaias Afwerki’s dictatorial regime is known to the world. The world finally has opened its eyes. What is surprising is that the PFDJ did manage to put on masks and appear healthy and participatory and ‘popular’ something which it is not. Its systematic human rights abuses (it liquidated its veteran fighters especially those intellectuals). It also hunted what it suspected as dissents or potential dissents. The PFDJ central group continues to purge all potential opponents in the cruelest ways.
PFDJ governed the country with law of the jungle and yet it claimed to be pure and “incorruptible” Astonishingly many believed it…
Mr Isaias Afwerki is so scared of independent thinkers and the educated class that he has closed all institutions of learning (e.g. the sole university of Asmara, and the many monasteries are left empty because the youth have been systematically conscripted…)
The biggest problem we have is that there are Eritrean citizens who still support the ruthless dictator. They cannot see what the world can see. They cannot feel what their brothers and sisters are going through. They cannot discern the wheat from the chuff. It is sad to see Eritrea represented by such tyranny and yet some of us are happy with this.
God forbid Eritrea from descending to further abyss.
