Some of you are born in Diaspora. Some of you are born in Eritrea and raised in Diaspora. Some of you know very little about Eritrea; yet, you proudly identify yourself as Eritrean.

We, members of the Network of Eritrean Civic Societies in Europe (NECS-Europe), believe that the targeted sanctions solely against the regime and not the Eritrean people are appropriate. As we are highly concerned with the deteriorating human rights situation in our country, we would have preferred to see the Resolution 1907 to have included the human right situation in our country as the compliance to lift the planned sanctions.
