Watching and listening to the video makes one feel sad and proud at the same time.
Sad, because people like Bitweded have been made to disappear from the face of the earth by the cruel dictator and his henchmen. Even sadder, the Eritrean people have allowed this to happen instead of raising their voice in unison to say “ageb”.
It makes one proud to know that we once had people like this guy who stood for justice no matter what the consequence.
It is true that people get the government that they deserve. We are being lead by an idiot because we allowed him to, instead of getting leaders such as Bitweded because we allowed the idiot to wantonly arrest and kill his perceived enemies with impunity. As you said it, a Psychiatric illness is a factor with this “thing”. You can pick your diagnoses, from split personality to bipolar disorder with manic depression to deranged personality. Or people will call it down right, crazy nut job.

Biteweded Abraham, you are such a resilient hero, who could remain focused on the ultimate goal of national unity, the rule of law, liberty and equality of the people in all shapes and forms for the benefit of this generation and all the generations to come. In spite of 74 months in jail, to be able to find such reconciliatory words and tone so forgiving, however, not forgetting instead of exacting revenge is quite amazing. The like of this statements can only come forth from great leaders the like of Nelson Mandela.
