    Mesfun Hagos
    way gud!

anta eti Amanuel, what is wrong with Amanuel eyasu? what a double standard! we thought he is with the people but we are wrong, Amanuel is ready to betray his people for money. we now know you what kind of person you are.

don’t worry we have not forgotten what you said to our fathers(g15) too.
what a lot of of rubbish.
Mesfun Hagos, why do mention his name, it makes my blood boil.

      Genet-original:
Why don’t you read the G-15 open letter and his interviews with the newspapers in 2001. Also you need to listen all his audio and tv interviews thereafter…..he has answered most of the questions but people don’t even read/remember what he said and keeps saying. Sometimes I don’t even know what people want him to say? He talked a lot about Isaias and his workings…..you cannot expect him to tell you want you want hear. This poor guy was the first to be frozen/demoted in the 1980s (and he said it himself), in 1987 he was kicked out of the politbureau of the eplf and he said when he was commander of Nakfa front, Isaias directly dealt with commanding officers, In 1994 Isaias proposed round ups for the 1st round and Mesfin as minister of defense opposed that and refused to go to Sawa and worse when Isaias ordered the shooting of Sinkulan he had a big fight and resigned as a result. Everybody know these facts. Also people need to know that when Isaias decided to not pay salaries of tegadelti in 1993, he was on the side of the mass poor fighters and as a result he almost won the 1994 eplf congress elections. He is known to be a just man and above all he has said openly he is ready to face justice if people think he has committed any crimes and to do that let’s bring democracy and the rule of law in our country and he is trying to contribute for that too. So, if people are fair and just why don’t you treat him as ‘innocent before proven guilty’? It is shame that young people are waging war against old veterans in their twilight instead of daring the evil dictator and removing him……disrespecting old people is the work of lames! Let’s be fair at all times my fellow Eritreans and humans! Thanks

You do have a snippy attitude. “disrespecting old people is the work of lames” Asking old people question and clarification is not disrespecting them. Don’t be an enabler. Justice, are you aware of it, all these “facts” you listed about Mr Mesfun Hagos, how he was against, but still these things happened. And still are happening to our people. Again what is your point? Has he been working with any group to unite our people? Why did he need to form his own group? With his back ground, he could have been a force to be reckoned with. Has he been straight with us about what happened in the past? I just think, he may has difficulty relating to Eritreans who are not former fighters. FYI, The young Eritreans have been giving and giving, but getting nothing in return. No body said, Mr Mesfun Hagos is guilty of any thing. Get it right. What I said was and still saying, he has not done enough for young Eritreans that is measurable. He is not that old. He could use his commander experience, to advocate for young Eritrean who are in foreign countries and suffering. Around 1993, did he do any thing, when Eritrean fighters were round up for speaking out?

Now we are getting closer Genet-original! I also share your frustration that he could have done much more, given his popularity. At least we shouldn’t pelt him with stones for doing his bit in yet another struggle. By the way he openly admitted that the eplf leadership including him failed big time…..the way I see it he and his colleagues failed big time and ended up becoming victims. Also Mesfin is not trying to become the next president or anything at all, so calm down guys. Trust me it is not up to Mesfin Hagos or any of his generation now, it is up to us. The youth are doing nothing and worse those organized have started squabbling on petty things rather than daring the regime. Look at the youth organizations, they are worse than the old guys……who is to blame? Let’s not find a scapegoat for our collective failure and the indifference of the large sections of the youth. Let’s stop bickering and galvanize the support of our people. It is our time and let’s seize it! Let’s stop the blame blame lame game…..so we don’t become lame! Stop focusing on petty things, action is the way to go…..The old generation has done its bit (for better or worse) and now let’s shape our own destiny for the better!

Mesfin Hagos was the second on command after Issayas in EPLF forces . Clueless to understand how him and associates
played a losing hand to hand over full authority to a lone man . Besides , if he abandoned his comrades and army
forces who showed support of his leadership , don’t you hesitate to throw support on such kind of people ?

  • Selamawi March 26, 2014

After the arrest of G-15 Ato Mesfin Hagos was touring Europe and America. He was then respected and many people flocked to listen to him. He was saying that he was planing to return to Eritrea to join his colleagues i.e. in prison. Many of believed him and pleaded that he did not put his life at risk for the sake of the Eritrean people. Unfortunately, he did not live up to our expectations and he chose to work with selected individuals (especially former tegadelti.) The wave of the masses did not gather pace the way it started and I have many regrets that Mesfin Hagos did not play exemplary role. Sharp individuals such as Dr Tesfay and Ambassador Hibret and other could not work with him, and left, disappointed I surmise. Ambassador Adhanom formally separated from him saying that he was going to repeat old mistakes presumably the shadowy sides of Sahil eara.

Ato Mesfin’s reputation went down hill not only due his destabilizing role in the opposition camp but when many accused him of the sinister role he played in liquidating innocent Eritreans – he was one of the founding members of the infamous internal party, and some suspected him of being pfdj’s long arm with a purpose to paralyze the opposition camp and to subtly preach DIVISION amongst some sectors of our society.

I am disappointed that the man we believed to be self-less and full of wisdom, and visionary did not satisfy me as a statesman for the following reasons:

    1. He did not defend his old comrades (G-15) when they have been accused, absurdly, of regionalism and treason. I have yet to see his counter arguments against the ugly divisiveness of pfdj – especially along the lines of awraja and tegadala/gebar and shabia/jebha… I have yet to hear his contribution to challenge and reverse the pfdj propaganda in disseminating regionalism and other excursionist lines.

    2. He has not shown any sense of urgency to address the core issues, giving the impression that he does not mean business or he does not have what it takes to be a leader/statesman. He did not use his contacts back in Eritrea efficiently in a timely fashion to bring about change.

    3. He did not reach out to other opposition groups to create a united front against pfdj. He could have worked with the likes of the late Ahmed Naser (RIP) but inclusiveness does not seem to come to him naturally. If my memory serves me well he was not in favor of National Conference when one was being proposed.

4.I am almost offended when he failed to issues official statement responding to the accusations leveled against him. Dear deader refer to Tesfay Temnowo, Redee Mahari (Alena, the author of Tilmi Zei Kirdad), et al.

    5. He is in good position to tell us all how the pfdj operatives work but he has chosen to remain almost mute, sadly for us all. I am not being curios, but I believe that information is power and I know that the current pfdj regime is gaining from secrecy and deception. Information is power. If Ato Mesfin speak and expose the secretes of Ato Isaias, the Eritrean people are empowered.

    5. Surprisingly Ato Mesfin Hagos seems to think that he should remain in the leadership for the rest of his life. I am disappointed he is stuck in his past (which many have found to be dubious if not devious)and he cannot respond to the current political exigencies.

I hope he will experience some kind of change in his heart and tell it all before journey ends. I suggest him play conciliatory and unifying role in the inevitable journey to victory by the Eritrean people. I mean all the citizens not just one faction or sub-faction – wereda awraja…(=political madness).

May Ahmed Naser rest in peace, and may God grant us reconciliation and peace in harmony. Amen!

Mesfin Hagos belongs not with those of sun rise but he’s comfortable with those of already belong to sun-set. He lived in dark age and still dwells there. Just ask me: What did you do during MAI Habar’s massacre? A duck sitting on Isayas’ knee, and now mute like a one year child?
Believe me you change nothing, you will gain nothing, and you will deceit nothing. We have enough of your cover-ups!! You may pretend, manipulate, play cool yet you are as criminal as your boss. Believe me the struggle will be clean and honest only when you leave it and disappear.

    Dear SYR,

bygons – apology accepted. Thank you.

Why i debate with you at all is B/C (independent from the contents of your comments) you sound cordial to me.

But watch out, i am not contented that fast (you exceptionally can call me „negram“ if you want). 🙂
Therefore i have some more points:

    1. Imagine one of the youngsters who was a victim of bedouins sitting in a cyber cafe e.g. in Israel and reading exactly that statement i was criticizing…Wouldn’t she/he need your sincere apology more than me?

    2. Reading your comments i repeatedly saw misunderstanding in the forum due to the interpretation of your words:
You say something symbolic, „expressionistic“ or „figurative“ but is often understood literally. So why not choosing a „literal“ form of language for e.g.
factual statements (political statements/analysis) but a different form for more „expressionistic“ messages (e.g.. poetry and the like ).
Than (i assume) you could convey your messages without hurting others and at the same time your qualities (humor, directness etc.) could come more into their owns…

I am with Selamawit2 on this. You have a talent and use it for Eritrea’s advancement, not selling ti to Ethiopia.
