The key thing here is not only change but also justice. I don’t think those involved in serious crimes will ever agree to be brought to justice if it’s left to them to make a choice, that should be obvious. Removing the regime from power means putting in place a completely new system that stands for freedom and justice. It doesn’t mean recycling Higdef’s bosses to take new roles without been accountable for crimes committed in the past. We want justice not vengeance. It’s the absence of justice that fuels revenge killings and chaos. Unless justice is made the victims will stick to their guns. A force like Medrek that claims to be working for change, must openly show that it stands for justice, else it will not be trusted.

We are speaking for our martyrs. We are not going to allow, a “former” PFDJ’s official to tell us we haven’t done enough. Can you spell it out what he has done in the struggle for democracy? No body is denying Mr Mesfin Hagos, his freedom of expression. What we are saying is he doesn’t have the right to tell us, we haven’t done enough. His freedom of expression shouldn’t be about scolding young Eritreans. I am for Mesfin Hagos to fully use his freedom of expression way long time ago. Since his miraculous escape from the jaw of a dictator, what has he been doing? Give us some evidences that he has been talking directly to us, the Eritrean people. I haven’t seen him doing any kind of initiative for our unite. So Justice, no body is going to give Mr Mesfin Hagos a blank check to behave as he wishes. Tell us, what has he, Mr Mesfin Hagos done for the young Eritreans, how have been pushed out of their homes, killed, tortured and raped? Has he used his credential to save even one boy or girl Eritrean? When his former comrades were speaking out about the injustice done by Isayas and his top dogs against our people, did Mr Mesfin Hagos add any thing? Or did he get defensive?
Mr Mesfin Hagos, I have nothing personal against you. However, as an Eritrean I have a right to remind you this is not 1970 or 1980,nor is it the time of gabar vs tegadaly vs EPLF/PFDJ elites. This is totally different time. No EPLF/PFDJ “former” elites is going to get away with fuzzy activities, by only listing his accomplishment, during the struggle for independent Eritrea. Nobody is discounting what you did before independent, but we are talking about now. And why it took you so long to come out? why didn’t you talk to the Eritrean people inside and outside Eritrea, directly and clearly what your intentions are? Why don’t you read the G-15 open letter and his interviews with the newspapers in 2001. Also you need to listen all his audio and tv interviews thereafter…..he has answered most of the questions but people don’t even read/remember what he said and keeps saying. Sometimes I don’t even know what people want him to say? He talked a lot about Isaias and his workings…..you cannot expect him to tell you want you want hear. This poor guy was the first to be frozen/demoted in the 1980s (and he said it himself), in 1987 he was kicked out of the politbureau of the eplf and he said when he was commander of Nakfa front, Isaias directly dealt with commanding officers, In 1994 Isaias proposed round ups for the 1st round and Mesfin as minister of defense opposed that and refused to go to Sawa and worse when Isaias ordered the shooting of Sinkulan he had a big fight and resigned as a result. Everybody know these facts. Also people need to know that when Isaias decided to not pay salaries of tegadelti in 1993, he was on the side of the mass poor fighters and as a result he almost won the 1994 eplf congress elections. He is known to be a just man and above all he has said openly he is ready to face justice if people think he has committed any crimes and to do that let’s bring democracy and the rule of law in our country and he is trying to contribute for that too. So, if people are fair and just why don’t you treat him as ‘innocent before proven guilty’? It is shame that young people are waging war against old veterans in their twilight instead of daring the evil dictator and removing him……disrespecting old people is the work of lames! Fellow Country men and women, as most of you are aware of Mesfen Hagos is a man of some agenda. I have met him in many circumstances every time he has never come to deliver but to listen and read the minds of the people. He is never honest and no body knows what his plan is.
If he was really working for change, he knows there was a way to do it. If people like wedi Bakaro has managed to get the attention of huge number how many more would Wedi Hagos received??? Lets not forget he knows more than every body else about Esayas and other big figures is PFDJ. He should have shaken the pillars of PFDJ over nigh. It is like setting a thief to catch a thief. I think we should try Ali Abdu to reveal the scandal with in PFDJ.
