demo.archive.assenna.com sources in the US confirm, the famous Eritrean artist Yohannes Tukabo (Wedi Tikabo), who has been in the US for PFDJ organised official tour abandons the dictatorial regime in Eritrea.

Wedi Tikabo has been sent abroad by the PFDJ along a group of artists for propaganda shows, which the regime often uses to dissuade the decline of its support base among Diaspora Eritreans.

In light of the recent Lampedusa tragedy, which shocked the whole nation and the world, excluding the regime in Asmara, Yohannes Tukabo’s decision was both timely and morale.

ewaye neskum si grim emba! wasn’t it just yesterday we lost our brothers and sisters? they haven’t even buried but yet Wedi Tikabo became your first news feed. He is not reported dead….he asked for asylum (which there is no confirmation to it, all you guys said was sources US confirmed) and even if he did ask for asylum does not mean he became an opposition, maybe he has personal reasons, its known he has close families and close friends in States. And if he did join this so called opposition what is Eritrea going to gain or lose… nothing…he is a singer not a president of Eritrea. But this defiantly shows how guys were/are not even mourning for our brothers and sisters since the attention went to singer and since most of you are celebrating because of this!…oh wait why would u mourn…this site is funded by TPLFs….& you know what is beautiful about that there is a proof for it. Stop running around on your enemies site, be real, be smart and get out of this site.

Guys why are we giving this guy a big deal. This is just a singer who sings when 500 young Eritreans die not to long ago in Atlanta . If we really respect our brothers and sisters who lost their life’s few days ago in Italy then at least lets forget this guy til they get buried please. Plus let’s not get excited when people abandon the regime, it sound like they did now what’s going on , they just got the point. Everybody who support the regime know what is happening and they know what they are doing so please whether they abandon him or not change is on its ways so let’s not give them credit.we are doing the job and we deserve the credit not them specially those who are on EYSNS

  • You made my day October 20, 2013

Wedi Tkuabo, if true, you really made my day.

Let me all give you a funny story that happened at my home this morning:
I logon to my laptop and as I always do, I check the Eritrean news by visiting the various Eritrean sites. As it happens, I checked Assena first, and wammo, I see a picture of wedi-Tkuabo with “Breaking News”. I ask my self, could he have done it? God, I hope this is true. Once I read the first two sentences, I let a big “yeeha” and woke up the wifey. Now, my wife is an ardent supporter of PFDJ and her favourite singer happens to be non other than wedi-Tkuabo.
When she asked what is the big commotion, I told her that her idol has now switched sides (to my side). She did not believe me, at first. I told her to check it on the net and tried to show her on my laptop. She stormed to the kids’ bedroom to check the news for herself. Then the shouting started. The insult to wedi-tkuabo, ‘america nEretrawyan human traffic tigebir kemzela abiyi miskir izi iyu:: deHan gin, mengistina kulu felitwo alo, iti kulu mistir abzi kereba gzie kzirgeho iyu:: wedi-tkuabo kaa dehan, nai taEsa wereket ferimo mis mengistu kemziseriH rigitsena iye..bla blah, blah::” At this time, she noticed a smirk on my face…. “You and your likes are the cause of this misery, witsaley, witsae…” So, I collected my laptop and drove to my nearest Starbucks from where I am typing this:-)

Not sure what is going to happen with my marriage, but I am sure happy about wedi-Tkuabo’s decision to side with his people.

Hahahah, this is a nice piece of creation. But you better read your wife’s head before your read wedi Tikabo’s head. Him and his wife are doing great. He should be worried about you and your wife’s, becuase it doesn’t look good. You hate HGDEF more than you love your wife, right? and your wife loves HGDEF more than you. IMO —- You better separate guys.

      • Wedi Tororonto October 20, 2013

I have a friend with this type of situation (he hates DIA, wife loves PIA). The husband was a PFDJ member but he saw the light and he wants nothing to do with his former organization; the wife was (and still is) a member of the National Union of Eritrean women. She is the “nsu niHna, nihna nsu’ type (an Isayas poster carrying type). The funny thing is, even though they have agreed to make their house politics free zone, whenever there is bad news about Eritrea, the issue surfaces (he belames DIA, she blames “the kedaat”). You can imagine, there has not been peace in that house for a while now, but they are sticking for the “sake of the kids”.

may you took it like a big deal but he is like single person may be he could have a handful contribution but at the end of the day is he becomes below zero so it doesn,t mean the eritrean sovirgintiy is gone with him okay remember that .so what i wold like to say is we are living in the comparative world we don,t need to bother about the indivisauls unless you guys you need big lessons to study i think your brain is changed on your mouth .which is un naturally .

  • Segen October 20, 2013

Very happy for you wedi Tikabo, I do not think you can say no for singing an keBri yeHwaTna, I just hate the ppl dance on that night.

  • Simon October 20, 2013

It’s in not a big deal, what’s point if he did what Kahsay Berha did. I hope he will hope Yonatan shekortotino in radio erena.

    • Sami October 20, 2013

It is a big deal..watch any pfdj meeting including Isias trip to New York you hear wedi tkabo song as sound track (tsebelale, yegermenalo, and many more hit songs. Pfdj supporters love weditqabo..they write his songs and post at their websites to memorize the song. To hear this guy left them is a big deal. I hope he rewrite some his song like yegermenalo (in this song he blame the world).now that he is in free country why not tell the true and blame pfdj.

of course this a big deal and is a breaking news. Guys if want to defeat the regime, you should understand the politics and the propaganda. We should embrace and capitalize on the breaking news. This is a damaging news to the regime. Don’t be destructive like the regime supporters. It is a journey and is that journey many big figures will join and it is best to embrace them and cultivate them to your advantage. Other wise there will be no progress. We will be stuck at one stage. Some many of our youngsters were drawing to this guy. And the regime clans like Monkey had used Wedi tikabo effectively towards their advantage. Of course the regime supporters will tell you,he was a hero and nationalistic back then. And now they will reverse or forget what they say back then and tell you he is nothing but a simple guy. Even they will go further to say We have lost so many heroes in our history. Please learn to move forward when a hear a good news and stop being destructive. As such this a good news and embrace, cultivate and move with winning strategy.
