The UN is getting ready to lift the sanction from Eritrea. When will the Government of Eritrea Lift the sanction from his own people?

I am glad the UN is planning to lift the sanction. But it is important, and timely to ask why the sanction was placed in the first place? And who was responsible? We should not

I am glad the UN is planning to lift the sanction. But it is important, and timely to ask why the sanction was placed in the first place? And who was responsible? We should not forget the root cause, and the chain effect that followed. The first step was the PIA single handily escalated the border conflict to a war to prolong is power.  Ethiopia failed to win the war on the battle field, and launched a diplomatic battle. We lost the diplomatic war, thanks to our stubborn PIA. Ethiopia was able to bring the super powers and African countries to its side to fabricate a rezone, and slap Eritrea with a sanction. Not because the world was out to get us, as the PIA wants us to believe. If that was the case , look at Iraq, and Libya. But because the PIA was planning to destroy Eritrea’s economy, as it is evident now, this was a blessing on disguise. And he used it as a cover for all his ill intentions. The sanction was only for arms, military related products, and not economic sanction. Why is the UN lifting the sanction now? Ethiopia wanted it lifted. What are we going to pay for it?  God only knows. On the last 4 months PIA lost 2 covers. He can’t blame woyany anymore, and he can’t use sanction as excuse anymore.

In the coming days you will observe a lot of celebration by the Government. They will declare victory, as if   the lifting of the suction is the result of our able leader, and we should trust him. And they will give us a lot of false hopes. Don’t be confused by this drama. If there is going to be any economic progress in Eritrea, the constitution needs to be implemented. Policies that encourage nationals, and foreign investment needs to be put in place. Banking systems and all ministries need function, as they should. And all nationals need to be invited to play a role in their own country.

Peace and Liberty to Eritrean people!

If UN is ready to lift the sanction on the brutal regime ,who will lift the sanction applied on ordinary people who suffered a lot under isayas’s regime? Thus is my point in manner question and request to whom may concern but I think ” the human rights ” No concern ! .is that the duty? If so, the word ” right ” should disappear from the whole text of Un manual. .

The true sanction in course , I should say, Eritreans never allowed to practice sovereignty as people far back post colonial era and still now ! Ethiopian weird expansion ambition. They failed on fight dearly than the battle of ADWA but now seems to try again thanks isayas ወዲ ምራጭ።

UN Sanction 1907, imposed on 23 December 2009 was lifted on 14 November 2018. The Sanction was an arms embargo on Eritrea; nothing less and nothing more. Isaias and his cliques routinely flouted the embargo as you would expect of a mafia state.

What does the lifting of the Sanction mean to the long-suffering Eritrean people? NOTHING. The Sanction had ZERO impact on the Eritrean state-controlled economy, despite the economically illiterate regime’s repeated assertion to the contrary.

There are two Sanctions that would bring the Eritrean regime to its keens which the UN should consider as a matter of priority:

      1. Impose UN Economic Sanction on Eritrea until the regime lifts its Economic Sanction on its own people. Demand the regime to allow the private sector to flourish, dismantle forthwith the national service and build institutions that safeguard the rule of law and commerce.

      2. Impose UN human rights sanction on Eritrea – sanction on the country until it frees all political prisons and the rule of law is fully implemented. The US already has a religious persecution sanction on Eritrea and the EU is in the process of formulating a human rights sanction of its own. However, a UN human rights sanction would isolate the regime even more and expedite its demise; which is what the Eritrean people desperately want.

      Eritrea forever, death to dictatorship.
