The sources that are closely monitoring the extremely alarming situation are in touch with citizens who live in the affected areas and express their dismay at the regime’s silence and cover up.
We present you the raw information as we have received it so that the internarial community, including relevant UN agencies are kept informed about the alarming situation. The international community should get involved proactively in the effort to control the epidemic as the secretive PFDJ government is weak to deal with the serious health crises on its own.
In the last few days more and more news are coming from the affected areas about a cholera epidemic rapidly spreading in the Gash-Barka region.
1 – The epidemic seems to have started in the Dembelas and Qwohayn areas
and is sweeping through the Gash Barka region;
2 – The government health structures are totally unprepared to face the crisis;
3 – The only response to the disease so far, on the part of the government, has been to
isolate those infected and treat them with some sort of flebo-infusion, and nothing else;
4 – Other than that, movements from village to village, marriages, tezkars, and
any other forms of gatherings are strictly forbidden;
5 – All movements into and from the area have been barred, Aqurdet being the outpost
of the limited zone, coming from Keren;
6 – The weekly market days have been halted;
- People are instructed not to exchange greetings by hand-shaking or other forms of
physical contact;
4 – Even worse, the government has sternly warned the population not to spread word
of the epidemic;
5 – Once again, the regime’s policy is: ሕጂ እውን ብጽፍርና ( “We will resolve it on our own”)
However, it is obvious that crises of this nature cannot be faced without the involvement of the
international community, namely the World Health Organization;
The alarming prospect is that a population already debilitated by hunger, poverty and all the
related problems, may soon come to the brink of yet another daunting tragedy.
Our pressing request to you, diaspora Eritreans is just to at least begin to call the
world’s attention to the extremely alarming situation.

No problem, our new masters the al Sauds and the Gulf Arabs will send us a lot of medicine. To our Arab gods this is not a lot of money, it is just few peanuts and changes in their Jelebia pockets. This is the reason we are dying for them in Yemen and walk proudly with our exceptionally unique Arabic identity

Even natural disaster becomes political game of insane people . Arab states might have
diplomatic relationship with our governments but those poor peasants children who lack
clean environment , medical access and proper nutrition are in danger .
Sure it can not be any problem for immoral and foolish person . After you fled into safe
corner you want to disconnect from place of your origin .

A caring government always takes action before any disease becomes epidemic. What about the tyrant’s non-caring authority, it waits and waits till the people die like flies and then for the first time announces about the plague when the epidemic disease continues to spread at an exponential rate. That is why the Eritrean people call the tyrant the number-one anti-people on earth because his administration made our people to expect horrible starvation and epidemic diseases by imposing on them shortage of food and water.
..
Our people are already suffering from the continuously spreading fear and panic. What is it going be with this epidemic disease added? If everyone in every house is not healthy due to absence of food and water, what are the people going to depend on for their first line of defense against the spreading epidemic disease?
The news obtained from the outside, thanks to Assenna and other independent websites, already put our people inside Eritrea on alert that the epidemic disease is spiraling out of control, reaching every house. Let’s pray for the people not to die in shocking numbers and let’s hope the UN would rush in to stop the transmission of the disease as soon as they can move in.
DESALEGN October 2, 2016
A disease outbreak is the occurrence of cases of disease in excess of what would normally be expected in a defined community, geographical area or season. An outbreak may occur in a restricted geographical area, or may extend over several countries. It may last for a few days or weeks, or for several years.
A single case of a communicable disease long absent from a population, or caused by an agent (e.g. bacterium or virus) not previously recognized in that community or area, or the emergence of a previously unknown disease, may also constitute an outbreak and should be reported and investigated.
Therefore the current Cholera outbreak in Eritrea should/must be declared and reported by the Government Eritrea to the relevant UN body, NGOs and International community.
AHMED SALEH!!! October 2, 2016
We must focus on those vulnerable section of the society like children and old people
where their immune system can’t fight to defend the attacking virus . Majority of the
population do live in poor conditions . Lets hope for urgent intervention before it spread
for the worst .
Eritrean government must change their failed policy of self reliance based on empty pride and work with international world to gain knowledge from professional experts in various
fields . Military rule must end and open the door for civilian role in state affairs . Bunch non
educated rank and file officials can not resolve this kind of problems .
