Tigrinya and Tigre are the two main languages of Eritrea spoken by over 90% of Eritrean population Tigrinya being the primary national language of Eritrea while English and Arabic languages are both considered the two main foreign working languages. In the old classic Google maps Tigrinya and English languages were rightfully used to denote all the name of places including cities, towns, roads, etc. But right now Tigrinya language has been made to disappear not only from the Google maps of Eritrea but also from the 70 plus languages that Google Inc supports.

This is wonderful idea. There is nothing like supporting once own languages, identity and history to represent Eritrea’s image. Our brave tegadelti brothers and sisters fought for decades for us to shine in own history, our own land, the blue sea and of course our own languages.
May God bless them, the greatest gift our heroic Ghedli and the brave tegadelti handed us back were our languages. We all have responsibility to shine in our languages and identity.

muhammad you are wrong to object this “Google Tigrigna initiative. You better Keep apart promoting culture from political belief. If you have an issue of ethnic domination and may be you do not want to see Tigrigna as Eritrea’s national language, this is a serious political divergence, and that is not how and where you present your case. Culture and language is a property of a Member of that ethnic group while a one’s political program is not necessarily for every one. So in my view if you are sincere Citizen, you need to apologize to the very gentle man, for your narrow minded and dismissive attitude ! It is unthoughtful and disruptive of important substance in my view.

Eritrea is a political curve but Tigrigna is a component of a culture. Eritrea is a Colonial political product of the late 19th, Century, but Tigrigna is a language of an Ethnic which predates Eritrea by thousands of years, my Argument is he is entitled to his belief as much as you are but Tigrigna is a property and Identity of all Member of the Ethnic. Coming to your grievance with his denial or view of ethnic Tigre , if it is true, It is appropriate to challenge him on that particular view on another platform. In my own view no one have any higher moral ground to deny the existence and progress of any ethnic group including the development of their culture with out interference. If Kebessa denies Tigre what happens if Whites deny Tigrigna. Justice have to be viewed from wide angle. All men are born equal! and all ethnics are born equal too!

Let me try once more, this time in your preferred language. I am not talking about what ever entitlement you’re trying to preach here.
I am after fact checking. He’s using the synonymousness of the two ethnic names Tigrigna and Tigre to mislead Google by claiming 90% of the Eritrean people belong to Tigrigna (50% + 40%).
With regard to the platform, I think this is where that factually wrong misleading information is currently being published and I don’t have any reason to go to aigaformum to challenge to Tesfazion. Afterall, I don’t belong to that forum in any way.

I think the admins know what they are doing. The owner has showed us that insulting Eritrean Muslims is inquencequential.
When he posted a video in which someone insinuates that google was under pressure from , letting the viewers understand who they are, but falling short of naming them.
A notorious hate propaganda master is being offered a platform at Assenna.
Tigrigna belongs to all Eritreans, but if it becomes an issue and others are forced to swallow it, it’s a disservice to the language itself.

As long as this supports Eritrean identity and languages that includes our own Tigre-Tigrinya characters, we have a responsibility to support it. This is not about the opposition or supporter, this is about our own languages.
This was the prime reason, we fought for 30 years and fighting still to preserve it.
May Eritrean history, languages and identity reflect Eritrea’s image, like our Tigrinya Guayla, Tigre poems, Kunama dance and Bilen songs.

The issue is the so-called Agaizian Nation project leaders and their sympathers among us.

If Tigrigna Nation was in anyones agenda before, we can safely assume that the proponents must be irrelevant as they are in the very small minority! Eritreans have come a long way in forging Eritreanness and want nothing to do with Tigrai or Ethiopia except to be a good neighbor.
