Hopes faded of finding more survivors on Thursday from a shipwreck in which 200 migrants are feared drowned, as rescue ships were called to the aid of more migrant boats in the same area of the Mediterranean.

“We are witnessing a genocide caused by European selfishness,” said Palermo mayor Leoluca Orlando as the Irish navy ship LE Niamh docked in the port carrying some 370 survivors of Wednesday’s disaster and 25 corpses, including three children.

Orlando, speaking on Italian television as hearses arrived to take the bodies away, called on European leaders to do more to prevent such disasters and to allow more refugees to re-settle in their countries.

After the survivors disembarked, some were escorted back on board to see if they could identify the dead children.

Police said they had detained five men suspected of having piloted the boat that overturned on Wednesday and of having had a role in trafficking the migrants.

Vessels from the Italian and Irish navies and humanitarian agency Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) saved about 400 people from the fishing boat, thought to have been carrying up to 600 people, mostly Syrians fleeing their country’s civil war.

They found no more survivors after scouring the waters overnight. Italian vessels continued to search the area on Thursday, a coastguard spokesman said.

      For how long ………. ?
Until our people open their eyes to identify the
root cause of these deadly problems .
      My main question which bothers me most is ;
For how long will last daily mourn for youngs
life lost in strange places far from their sight ?
The serious consequences didn’t ring at many
ears , yet . That is also disturbing weakness .

Dead or alive to Isaias & Yemane Monkey & associates. Should we wait & wait until they finish eating their tails. The international community will not lift the sanctions, even they should not think about it.

Recently, I was washing my close in a coin laundry , put a load in , while I was waiting for the cycle to finish , a young fella approached me and asked, ‘where you from man?’, I hesitated a little bit, and answered ‘from Eritrea’, the fella retorts, ‘damn! what is going on in that country man, everybody is drowning’. I can feel the chill of adrenaline cascading down my spine in a hot and humid south Florida morning. I gathered myself , and muffled, ‘there is boogie man there ,and chasing the people out.’ the young punk smiled, and I asked him, ‘ how do you know about this?’, and he says,’ man! it is all over you-tube.’, and he continues with a swagger, ‘I aint drowning for no boogie man, I kill the mother f….r!’. I nodded with agreement, and smiled , and he gave me a fist bump. IT IS A SOMBER TIME TO BE ERITREAN.

This is very sad, people are perishing in the dangerous seas, as every year. Assena, in particular has been warning people from time to time, but what can desperate do?
The only solution is to remove the drakula regime from its illegal power.
By the way Assena , Erena and another radio are widely heard in Asmara.
A relative who was high on Areki, and devoid of fear, was listening to Assena via satalite, and he asked me to hear it.
According to him assena and others are giving hope to the oppressed people. He added that no one is interested on the mafia controlled media any more.

Many innocent children like the cute boy on the picture from such unprecedented crisis. As little as this boy, they do not know where they are going, they do not know what is happening, they do not know why they are starving, they do not know how risk it is to the informed destinations. For sure, they have been asking themselves why they were born to face such intolerable sufferings. Although it is good to see this baby’s rescue,it is heartbreaking how our children are in great danger. I wish for this little boy a bright future.

Note to demo.archive.assenna.com: Please stop calling these people “migrants”. That is a term that BBC and friends use to distantiate the citizens of Europe from feeling anything for these people. These are REFUGEES! Refugees and other vulnerable people deserve the protection and assistance to which they are entitled under international law, which gives them a RIGHT to seek for asylum. By referring to them as “migrants”, the mass media led by BBC are trying to rob these refugees of this right.

As an Eritrean opposition website, demo.archive.assenna.com should take first initiative to speak these refugees’ cause. Not regurgitate what BBC++ keep repeating again and again hoping to make it the new truth. Remember Iraq?
