VoA-Tigrinya has always been ‘home coming’ for GoE officials.
Look no further than the fact that VoA-Tigrinya can get access to any government official at any time speaks volumes for itself.
Thanks guys for bringing it into the attention of the chief. Indeed tewelde gave the dictator a free ride to spread his proppaganda without being challenged. He definitely failed to do his duty as a journalist. VOA if you don’t have the gut to ask the right questions let the Eritrean people know in advance when you arrange interviews and give the Eritrean people a chance to ask and challenge them.
It is high time to raise issue, I think the VoA has been a mouth piece of Shabia, Senait habtu from Asmara, why the VoA is paying some one who is reporting about the positive picture of the government , which is edited by Ali Abdu before it was sent to VoA. I think VA us established to highlight issues which are paramount importance for the people, as it is known the people in Eritrea, have no access to media like VoA but VoA instead of becoming the voice of voiceless it becomes a platform for the GoE and its supporters. But I would like also to thank journalist like Minya, who is unbiased and professional and fact finding. But I do nor like some of the programs such as Hizbi Nehezbi-some times it does not have any relevance except a battle field or a show for the Tihrayans and Eritreans of Shabia supporters
Though as a media it should give plat form for every body it should serve the need of the majority who are devoid of a voice.
Please don’t blame Senait Habtu. She is under a shark’s nose and if she dared say things not approved by the regime, they can swallow her instantly – never to be seen or hear from her again.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!! Professionally and clarity as well. Tewelde was not only soft on Isaias he was also cracking jokes with him. One might raise the issue of his families in Eritrea where he watches his steps lest provoke Isaias so that the latter won’t vent on the former’s family. Moreover, the onus should be on the person who formulates or selects the questions. If Tewelde is just an ‘errand’ who asks questions given to him by an editorial board, the said letter is targeted at the wrong person. But if he is responsible in formulating the questions, he has not only failed in upholding the very spirit of journalism but he has as well let down the very victims where he is expected to channel their grievances to the man who is playing with their lives. I would have personally preferred M’nia Afwerki to have interviewed him where she is more firm, assertive and with a forceful voice where Tewelde seemed at times petrified at the sight of Isaias where his tone of voice was cracking and we will never know if he had to change his pants right after the interview.
After declaring war against free thinking Eritreans and calling any Eritrean who refuses to tip toe their failed programs as “PFDJ stooges”, now they have started war against an internationally renowned free press: VOA. A free press is not a free press because those who are involved in the free press business interview people whom you think are your enemies. It is a free press because it operates its business without any governmental duress and interference. It shows how desperate these people are. Tewelde had done his job, and as a journalist, he has a duty to treat his invited guest with respect. Whether he asked the guest tough questions or not is not the warlords’, their supporters’ and the tragic OOSUB’s business.
I was almost ready to congratulate you and throw a garland on your neck on your success of finishing your post with out using the word “OOSUB”, where I sadly had to retract my congratulatory remarks as my eyes landed on the last line. Just curious though, is it you with a different dialect where the word seems to be corrupted instead of said, “E’sub” as opposed to “OOSUB”? Just curious.
First and foremost, I advise you that the word “OOSUB” is already patented. Any use of it without the permission of its creator is punishable by law. I am kidding. I have no problem writing it as E’sub although I have no idea why you wrote it as “E’sub” instead of “Esub” without the apostrophe. The apostrophe is usually used as a substitute for a missing letter in Tigrigna. You can also write it as “isub”. To me, it does not matter how you write it as long as the reader can read it and understand its meaning. Setting aside your callous sarcasm, however, I would like to inform you that there is no conventionally agreed upon set of rules how to write Tigrigna in Latin alphabets. I have even seen people using “X” for the letter sound “ts”. FYI, I had done all my elementary schooling in Tigrigna, and I am from a population whose Tigrigna is considered the … (here is a clue: Tigrigna…tetimugutolu). Temesgen, please try to be yourself.
Try to be myself? I wonder, what would be the golden path for me to find my inner and real self? Zen? Taoism? Buddhism? In case if you’re insinuating if I am trying to travel an extra mile in a bid to be more Catholic than the Pope, last time I checked, I walked, talked and laughed like an Eritrean even my significant other tells me that I make love like an Eritrean when she happens to hail from the Amara real deal. Ohh before you go, “No wonder, you’re rooting for Meles”, she happens to hate his guts and more often she wants to see him exit politics any time soon.
You said “…my significant other tells me that I make love like an Eritrean” , I hope you don’t ostracize me by saying “anta teregam; ab mengo seb hadar men eto beleka” However I would sure have asked her how she came to appreciate the distinction though. You see, you can’t be too careful this days! In one old tale there use to be a small town where the locals were excessively engaged in extra-marital affairs. And soon after having had an affair, the people would flock to their local catholic church and confess. The deacon of the parish who administered the confessions had too much to put up with this form of sinfulness and commits a suicide. Thus a new priest was appointed to the parish. In the hope of avoiding such tragedy, the locals and their mayor had then decided to confess with the new priest by simply stating that they had “fallen down” every time after having an affair. As the new priest started to be alarmed by the numbers of people to have “fallen down”, he decided to call the mayor of the city and pleaded with him to do something about the sidewalks, to make his point however he also mentioned to the meyor that the latest victim of such accident was actually the mayor’s wife.

Temesgen,
To tell you the truth, I have no idea what you are trying to say in your comment. Are you okay? You don’t sound the Temesgen Medhanie that I admire no matter his crude political stand. Let me tell you one thing, my friend. Stop trying to defy gravity by inflating yourself with Helium. Come down to the floor where the average Eritrean stands on, and then you will make sense. Take this as my sincere advice.

A Great Job for bringing to the attention of VOA head office.
I have noticed for a while that Mr Tewode was working in favor of the dictatorial regime of Eritrea. Tewolde understands very well what is going in Eritrea, but he was entirely working for his personal benefit and ignoring the suffering of our people.Who knows what he was getting in return for his work from the regime. More over, you can notice the influence he has to the rest of the VOA employees when it comes about the Eritrean regime. He is very incompetent and lucks professionalism.I cannot wait to see his replacement with other professional person and to listen a fair and unbiased broadcast by VOA in the near future.
I am glad to hear one western media talk positive about my country. Go VOA go. If you want hear shit about Africa listen to the rest of them. Listen up refugees nothing will satisfy you thats what migrants are period! until you die and then its too late. Why dont you dream positive one day and good things will happen to you like going back to your home land and reunite with your friends and family. And there is a free press in the western world you got to be kidding. You people First need to free your minds dont be tools for white people you are drugging your continent to colonization other wise shut up and do what you do for living . back home The Eritreans are struggling and succeeding and nothing is going to stop.

What you are talking is nonsense. But just for the sake of discussion assume Tewolde is biased journalist or work for his advantage (get money from ‘Shaebia’ – which is impossible like ‘kab zibees axmi’. So why you are surprised with that, if he is working beside his country Eritrea. I wonder why Amanuel is working for Woyane. I prefer to die like Gaddafi than working with bloody woyane.
Otherwise, if we have to talk truly about VOA; be it Tewolde, Minia, Mimi Sibahtu, . . . they are all working for their money just ordered by their bosses which is USA. In the history of our struggle for independence VOA was against Eritreans. Even now they don’t speak the fact. However, ‘betri Haqis tQeTn’mber aytsbern’ . Eritresns, don’t care about PR. Yesterday, Today and Forever SHAEBIA. ewe SHAEBIA.
This is very good. It is about time that we do such kind of activities. For next time I suggest three points that may enhance our power.
According to Wikipidea the mission statement of VOA is:
“to promote freedom and democracy and to enhance understanding through multimedia communication of accurate, objective, and balanced news, information and other programming about America and the world to audiences overseas. …The Voice of America is fully funded by the U.S. taxpayer. Congress appropriates funds annually. VOA’s FY 2010 budget estimate was $206.5 million.”
First, the letter should have been addressed to two other much more powerful entities. These are the USA State department and the USA congressional committees in both the Senate and the House of Representatives — the state department because it has overall sight of the activities of the VOA and Congress because it is the entity that appropriates the budget for the VOA.
Second, the letter should have highlighted that the ECG is composed of overwhelmingly tax paying American-Eritrean citizens. Congress understands the power of votes. And it listens to Americans.
Third, stress the fact that the VOA is violating its mission statement, promote freedom and democracy, since it has become a mouthpiece of the autocrat Isaias and his dictatorial regime when it comes to Eritrea.
I could not agree more!
It is evident this week the VoA is interviewing three PFDJ sale out so called PhDs, not only they are denying but also support the imprisoning and suffocating of the Eritrean people at home under the guise of ‘ dobena sure hansthsen’.They just repeat what their boss Ali Abdu and Yemane monkey said.
