In Support of “Forum for National Dialogue” (FND)
We, the civilian elements who have been silenced by armed groups,
marginalized and side lined elements of the Eritrean Society,
patriots & fighters in the former ELF,
civilian elements of the former ELF,
patriots & members of the former EPLF,
civilian elements in the former EPLF,
last but not least current and former members of PFDJ,
are hereby extending our support and enthusiasm to the advent of “Eritrean Forum for National Dialogue” led by former EPLF patriots and former members of the current government (namely Dr. Andeberhan, Dr. Tekeste, Ambassador Abdalla Adem).
We support the fact that these individuals have made it clear that they are inclusive of ALL genuine ‘peaceful’ Eritrean resistance to repression, ALL Eritrean reformists, ALL genuine ‘peaceful’ Eritrean oppositions, and most of all we believe that these individuals have links with progressive elements in Eritrea and they are also effective in communicating and addressing the Eritrean aspirations here in the Diaspora.
These overtures proclaimed on Tuesday the 2nd day of February 2014 by “Eritrean Forum for National Dialogue” are very timely, exigent, overarching, and effective to the current atmosphere in the Eritrean society both inside and outside. These particular individuals can not by far be characterized close to the likes of Issaias or his tight knit cronies, that is indeed far fetched, ridiculous, and counter productive.
We have ALL made serious mistakes by condoning, not doing anything, or by not condemning the ruthless and useless Issaias Afewerqi’s regime. We are ALL invested in Eritrea. We ALL have stakes in the country and in our people. We are ALL to blame for the current plight of the country and people. These are the ‘tipping points’ stipulated in the Forum’s declarations and their Radio propagations, if we do NOT own our mistakes we are bound to repeat them let alone resolve them.
Forum for National Dialogue is the best thing that has happened since the inception and birth of the PFDJ in February 1994 – exactly 20 years ago (no accident there); it is only seasoned, tempered, and hardened veterans of the EPLF that will undo what is currently the madness defecating on the heads of the Eritrean population.
We sense a lot of cynicism but that is the trend nowadays. What makes this latest enterprise different from the previous ones that attempted and failed miserably, including those trials made by ex-fighters and seasoned characters? The difference this time is the manifestation of the hopes, thoughts, and aspirations of the Eritrean people by a broad based competent, committed, connected both inside and outside of Eritrea, and most of all with nothing to gain but ALL to offer – nationalists.
Some elements in the opposition are posturing their positions and claiming seniority or making a claim of higher status in the hierarchy of the waddling, swaying, and “defunct” opposition. Clearly, the Eritrean people can not afford to ‘babysit’, appease, or entertain a losing, ruthless, worthless, and bankrupt opposition.
This is NOT a power struggle we are NOT even there yet, it is not a competition either, and nor is it a sectarian manifesto – this is a mission to remove a despot “before” he destroys the Nation of Eritrea.

Eritrean patriots either in armed or political field products of ELF and EPLF should answer
for the call of unity . From past experience you
know better to identify the root problems which
led us into all obstacles of social and political life . It is time to wake up as Eritreans to tolerate
eachothers ideas and principle for the sake of the country future stability. We already lost the
culture of respect of individual opinion except ofcourse only for the untouchable HGDF mouth piece legacy . Let’s follow the steps of Wedi – Vocarro including Amanuel Iyassu mission for
reconciliation . It requires a firm stand when comes to national issue because of it’s obstacles
and complications . Just have a beleive solely on ourselves.

Dear monica
Absolutely you are right . EACH of us are brothers and sisters . We should approach each other on same manner with care and respect. But it take a struggle to bring that culture back
from those corrupted elements among our society.

This press release seems from a junion people who have the capacity to topple Isais. I hope they will do it but I don’t think they will get the support of the people in the opposition because they are insulting the opposition for doing their best in the past.

I think Medrek ( Forum) is inflated its importance to a point to blow itself and fall under its weight. And there are people here thinks Medrek is solution to rescue us from our abyssal situation. They are wrong for many reasons of few:
1) They are exclusive whereas the problem in Eritrea needs unity and inclusiveness.
2) They method of engagement lacks accountability and transparent.
3) They were high rank official of the ruling junta and they show disrespect to the people by assumed they are desperate they will not resist their help.
4) They belittle the long years resistance movement in one gross which is no appropriate.
5) They claim they have inside connections and to attract supporters which is impossible to prove. This shows how out of touch they are and to treat the diaspora with disrespect and deceitful acts. Assume they are telling the truth but what kind of inside organization needs support or permission from diaspora to carry-out change inside Eritrea. Let them carry out the so called change and then come here as messengers to bridge. Then it make sense other wise who are you kidding?
In conclusion Medrek doesn’t deserve that much duplicity ether in support or to oppose. It is already dead and the best is to ignore Medrek until it go through its slow death and I don’t see any point of this hype about forum.End off.

the writer says,

Really, Mr.Yonas Ghebregzi(abiher)
speak for yourself. Medrek is a group which consists of former high level EPLF/PFDJ officials. they are not inclusive at all. former EPLF/PFDJ members and fighters are in fact infuriated by Medrek. Medrek is PFDJ. in many ways a wolf is even better than a wolf in sheep skin. in a nutshell, pfdj is better than Medrek. Medrek is out to confuse Eritreans in general and the opposition in particular. Medrek is the worst thing that could ever happen to the opposition which genuinely aspires to bring fundamental change in Eritrea. SHAME ON YOU Medrek.

There is nothing to reform. It is time to overthrow the evil PFDJ and its thugs. It is time for radical change. The leaders of the ‘Forum’ need to go through some change themselves. These individuals have been serving the dictator and they need to be adjusted and cleaned from the old school of PFDJ. It is time for Smerrrrrrrrrrrrr…..
Radical change is the only way out. NO PFDJ any more.
