this young woman telling that’s what’s going Eritrea, we already know, she should have made a difference inside
she should have spoke her mind not to listen to those people telling her what to do, that would have made a difference, now she coming to the free world news talking about it. I understand she was a scare. I know I was my understanding she will never go back to that country again, as long the dictator is around, either way that would be useless, she should have made us the opposition before she went, woulda gave her some kind of training. I don’t know what kind of Hellboy getting from her. united against dictator.

I agree with the lady’s observation and experience, and when it comes to the infrastructural condition of our country, it is in a dire situation It is not only Asmara, but the whole nation. Folks, after more than 15 years overseas, I have been back home a year ago, and it is very sad to see the Italian era main roads connecting the major towns are not maintained and upgraded for years, and are crumbling beyond recognition. There countless pot holes on the streets and boulevards of Asmara, and most of the metal covers of the drainage system are either rusty and old or completely gone. the drainage and sewage systems have never been cleaned and maintained for years, and therefore in some places there is street flooding during the rainy season, and Eri Tv is a witness by itself to this sad situation. Also, with frequent power cuts in most parts of the city, and insufficient lighting in most streets of the city, sometimes you can’t be sure where your foot might be landing the next step you are taking while walking, and it is quite scary. It is very very sad to see most of the historical buildings in the capital are so faded and falling apart, and it is so sad to see the image of the once clean and beautiful city is tarnished beyond imagination. For those who doubt this ugly truth ( people such as erikid and Adeye Adeye) all I can say is that just look at the recent pictures of Asmara that have been posted on Asmarino.com. One picture is more than a thousand words, those pictures are not fake ones in any way, and that what I exactly witnessed, and that is what the way things are, and I bet the situation is much more worse by now. I have been to Keren, Akurdet, Dekemhare and Mendefera, and the situation is similar is those major towns as well. For example, according to Gazzeta Hadas Ertra itself, the residents of Akurdet made two major appeals in less than 2 years ( one as recent as a month ago) to the “government” regarding the dire situation of those architecturally beautiful Italian era historical buildings. As far as the national economy, and the standard and cost of living of our people is concerned, that is a whole different story, and to put it in short, except those who are well connected to the corrupt officials of the regime, and those who get a decent amount of money from their family members overseas, the majority of our people are really really struggling with daily life to make the bare minimum. In fact, it breaks your heart to see many destitute elders begging out in the streets in many parts of the country which is quite unusual in our society, and it is very alarming to see the social fabric slowly but surely disintegrating, and the traditional community support system being eroded away. It is also very disturbing to see a whole new young generation without hope and future inside the country, and always thinking about pursuing a better future somewhere else outside the country. When it comes to the overall mood, spirit, and sense of freedom of our people around the nation, the reality is not the way people such as erikid are claiming, it is rather sad, and there is a great deal of distress, frustration, and above all there is a great deal of fear and mistrust among people deeply entrenched by the security apparatus of the regime. After more than 15 years away from home, I couldn’t believe my eyes to see people are so tense, reserved, so subdued, and lost trust to one another, and like so many of my compatriots, I have never ever thought our people will be subjected once again to such kind of fear, repression, and indignity, and I truly feel an imaginable sadness everyday. May God / Allah help us our peaceful struggle for hope and positive change, and may God / Allah change the hearts and mind of those compatriots who are living in complete denial, amen!
