NAIROBI (Reuters) – Two little known Eritrean rebel groups said on Friday they had killed 12 government soldiers in an early morning attack.
The Red Sea Afar Democratic Organisation (RSADO) and the Eritrean National Salvation Front said they carried out the raid on Thursday in Kermed, Adi Metras, Ingra Abo, Adi Tela’a and Meshal Akran, all in southern Eritrea.
“The enemy units were engaged for nearly two hours,” the groups claimed in a statement.
“They suffered both human casualties and material losses that included 12 dead and more than 15 wounded, in addition to various types of military hardware.”
The claims were the first since last year when RSADO said it killed 17 intelligence agents and wounded another 37 in an attack on army barracks.
There was no immediate comment from the Eritrean government but authorities in Asmara often dismiss foreign-based opponents as “puppets” acting under the orders of foreign governments.
Eritrea accuses arch-foe Ethiopia of working to destabilise the Red Sea state, while Addis Ababa declared openly in April that it would support Eritrean rebels in a bid to oust President Isaias Afewerki’s administration.
RSADO says its operations are in response to Asmara’s refusal to grant autonomy to the Afar, whose homeland straddles Eritrea, Ethiopia and Djibouti.

Amanuel iyasu , your report was not suported by facts in the past. One of your reporting in the past was Eritrea sent 2000 comandos to help Gaddafi now can you proove that before you jump to another lie such as the one you just posted?

This is a tit for tat game between Meles and Issaias. This is not going to solve the political quagmire in Eritrea. They are just killing one or two conscripted Eritreans.
The only military solution if there is one is that a full invasion by the Weyane forces. The rest is simply waste money and time.

Any military action destroys innocent people’s life. Eritrean people suffered for so long and paid
heavy price on the last 50 years. Before you say something have consideration for those civilians
because it is not their fault.

If the regimes become totalitarian and does not give any platform for its citizens to discuss their issue, the people will take their cause by force which is the only thing the regime understands.PFDJ is killing and imprisoning our youth day and night so it is better dying while struggling for your cause instead of in undercover prison.

Haven
Are you blackmailing the family of Dawit Issack not to be associated with the campaign that shows the plight of journalist who are incarcerated in unknown prison. I do not understand what the family of dawit get by not supporting his cause, as we heard from one of the gurds of the prison , most of the prisoners in Era Ero in bad condition, one of them is Dawit whose mental status is not in good situatuon.
Regarding Assenna, it had the liberty and the responsibility to reflect the day to day plight of the Eritrean people, who cares about those opportunists who want to benefit by the suffering if the people. In fact we applaud and respect the work of Dawit, who is also a winner of many awards for serving his nation as an independent journalist.,

part 1
Generally speaking weather the photograph and story is true or not, I t is not hard to guess from which kind of interest group the message has written .Defiantly not from true Eritreans from those who fighting for regime change, democracy, justice and to liberate our whole people , but it is from Ethiopian side Asab Port dreamers, and from those group who have jealousy because of the mining boom in Eritrea who liking to instrumentalize the Afar and Kunama tripes as if they suffered differently to full fill their own dream and agenda. That´s why i many times try to remind what PM Meles has tought around 10 years ago during the inauguration of the Ethiopian Embassy, while he be asked regarding Port Asab, he was said; “ As far as i know all the Afar Eritreans are seconded, and gave them their voice for the freedom of Eritrea. And Asab is not belong to Ethiopia, but to Eritrea. However, if there is legal way or means to gain port Asab back, we will do what ever we can but for that we need your consultation and knowledge.” Even he was promised to employ and pay foreign advocates.
truly, Truly i say to you October 22, 2011
part 2
I think for PM Meles interest we may all remember what socalled Canadian professor and advocate has said it, during the first EDA conference (Wae´la) at Addis regarding kunama and Afar. So in short this message is not in the interest of regime change seekers Eritrean. That´is why many times say to my brother Temesgen Medehane who trust and romanticising the Ethiopian regime like socalled Yoseif Gebrehiowt , “ yes indeed the Ethiopian support to the Eritrean refugee is appreciable, but the view they have towards Eritrean independent and sovereignty even the wish they have to see Eritrea as peaceful and prosperous independent nation is un trustful and questionable .” So if we are talking about the necessity of army struggle, like the people of Libya marched to destroy the dictator, we need not ethnic tribal rebel motivated army struggle, but the whole Eritrean people participation, including the refugees in Ethiopia and Warsay Yikalo brothers and sisters who are under slavery.
Haqqi Nezareb October 22, 2011
Truly, truly….
You said on your post, “So if we are talking about the necessity of army struggle, like the people of Libya marched to destroy the dictator, we need not ethnic tribal rebel motivated army struggle, but the whole Eritrean people participation, including the refugees in Ethiopia and Warsay Yikalo brothers and sisters who are under slavery”. There is an organization formed recently by Eritrean youth in the refugees camps, you can join the movement. As your comments regarding ethnic groups organizations, it is their choice. If they think it is the only option they have to remove the regime that is wrecking havoc in their life hood, let us respect their choice.
weygud! October 22, 2011
what should we do?
1) we want changes , freedom, justice and law.
2) Isaias is refused to do this and making Eritreans to its slave.
3) we hate war and we hate to kill to each other.
So! what is the solution?
How should changes come!!?
Barentu October 22, 2011
Short of full invasion by Ethiopia, this type of news will not solve any except making it worse.
Gadafi has been deposed and made history mainly because of NATO forces.
The only “NATO” forces in the region are the Ethiopians. Do not count on the coward Arabs to help in this case.
Selam October 22, 2011
There are no such government troops they are Eritreans going further they are our brothers, sisters, cousins…… this kind of news not welcomed Assenna (Amanuel ) if you are really interested for change I am sure you have contacts tell them to stop killing their brothers.
