A number of the major news agencies reported on 15 March 2012 that the Ethiopian armed forces carried out military raid in three different localities inside sovereign Eritrean territories. Without any qualms, the Ethiopian government’s spokesperson, who announced to the international media concerning the gratuitous aggression, also added that more attacks may be carried out in the future.
We in CDRiE unequivocally condemn this unprovoked and unjustified attack on Eritrean national sovereignty and call on the government of Ethiopia to immediately cease its threats of further escalation under any pretext. We urge instead both governments to seek peaceful and legal resolutions to their disagreements.
The attack on Eritrea’s sovereign territory is a very dangerous development that could lead to fully fledged confrontation with likely devastating consequences on the lives of the peoples of both countries. This will also exacerbate the already volatile political situation in the region.
Eritrea and Ethiopia have yet to recover from the effects of the last vicious and senseless war which resulted in the death of nearly 100,000 people and many more maimed limbs. War is the last thing the peoples of the two countries need. Not only are the devastating effects of the last war still apparent, but its root and proximate causes still remain unresolved. Many, if not all, of the salient conflicts in the region are directly or indirectly related on the one hand, to the unresolved border dispute between Eritrea and Ethiopia and on the other, to the mutual suspicion and hatred between the leaderships of the two countries.
CDRiE calls on the international community, in particular the United Nations Security Council and the African Union to take immediate action to nip in the bud the fledgling violent conflict before it is too late. The international and regional communities should bring pressure to bear on Ethiopia to comply with the United Nations’ Charter and other principles of international Law.

Combo,
you wrong i think. In my view Gen Abraha Kasa will be very crazy one day and kill Esayas Afwerki by shooting.
inshalah
Who will be the first to betray Issaias Afewerki or the Hgdef regime?
Will it be …:

The true colour of some Eritrean organizations and opposition groups are revealed. To mention the EYGM, CDRiE, and EDPD are clearly extensions of the PFDJ….I have lost a complete trust on these groups.
They are confused to the level that they are doing favour to bloodsucking ruthless dictatorial regime in Eritrea. They press release is just a copy forwarded to them by the PFDJ from Asmara.
My question goes as, why these groups never made any condemnation against the Eritrean government support to the rebel groups and terrorist groups.? Why they are rushing up to condemn the Ethiopian government?? Don’t they predict that all these attack was about to come? Who is the wrong doer of the situation? You all must remember that Ethiopia as a nation have the moral right to attack such terrorist safe haven, just like US in Afghan?? Also it meets legal requirement to chase down the evil adventurers in the region. Regardless to the approval for such an attack from the international community, Ethiopia has the right to defend its own peace.

This is something nonsense. Eritreans should tell Isaias that he should rule Eritrea, not the Horn of Africa. why is he supporting this 10+ LFs in Eritrea. Ali Ebud, the minister of “truth” told VoA the other day that his government will countinue to support more LFs in Ethiopia. If he does, he should tolerate the consequence. As for the Ethiopians, we should not tolerate Isaia Afeworki’s adventurism any more. What sould be the role of Eritreans, to my mind, they have to tell their leader to stop spreading terrorism to his neighbours. Other things are beyond their control and even sphere of influence.

Haki Ytakeb,
Yes I am proud agame. You said you can destroy Ethiopia from its flank. Too late too little. you tried it in 1998 Euroupean calander and you failed. you tried it for the last 14 years but to no avail. Now is the time to know your limit. try to reconcile with the reality. You said they are not terrorists, they are freedom fighters, well non of your business. If you are saying you will support them, then you have to accept its consequence i.e. don’t cry.

Since you come to this forum with respect to express your view, You
are welcome especialy as wedi Tegray. Because only honest people do
not forget our common past. But let me warn you not to fall to those arrogants.
You think they care about those peasants on the border who suffered enough
since Derg time. About Agame stuff do not worry we are all proud Agame, proud
Akele, proud hamasien, proud Metahet, proud amhara, proud………on ….on ..
We are stupid human beings with ego, that is all.

To respond for your demand to Eritreans as responsible people to stop HGDF action, you sound like blindly after victims instead you
identify the victimizer. How the hell in God sake can we stop him when the whole world is wacthing the misery of Eritrean people.
Have a pity to our people brother, it is out of our control. Do not
forget Weyane played a role too in his game for control before
Badme war.

Ahmed,
hank you for your civil approach. I agree with you and basically I am against any stereotype. Being an Agame or Hamasien doesn’t mean by itself. to come to your point, I am sympatetic to my fellow Eritreans in the border. But, you we have also the issue of security to the people in other side of the border. This people are crying for the 10+ years and the government has the bligation to provide security, which is the basic function of any government

If we could not secure ourselves safety how can you expect us to secure you.
Don’t you see more 50,000 refugees in Ethiopia in couple of years. As a friend
of Eritrean people join us in this battle for democracy and friendship with our
neighbours. I promise you we will not let you down after what you did to our
young refugees. A FRIEND IN NEED A FRIEND IN DEED, you proof that big time.
Hopefully we will meet in Asmera and Mekelle. CIAO.

I understan that all Eritreans are not in a position to influence Isaias’s behaviour. But, don’t forget, Isaias is only one person. If the people stand against the regime for example, if they oppose his adventurinsm, he my change his policy of intervetion in others affairs. Isaias is not a magical leader, he is exploiting Eritrean elites choavinist mentality. Therefore, the first step is avoiding this backward mentality and say to him stop meddling in others’ affairs.

Maybe 5 villages,…but I hope it does not go any further.

Dear Cedrie,
This is the first time that I have seen an opposition or civic group that defends eritrean interest regardless how the current government is running the country. I applaud your unconditional policy defending our sovereign country. I was searching one legitimate political organization that have a good perhaps better policy than the PFDJ regime. I and several silent majority will join you soon.
Let’s defend our sovereign country unconditionaly and implement the constitution.

I am sorry to inform you that the comment I posted was cut off. It was a very serious reminder and stressed legal questions. I don’t understand why the admin took it off. HOWEVER, I would remind you of your flaws. 10 You do not send reply whenever letters are sent to you. why? are you organized based on friendship or awraja or what have you? 2) This issue must be viewed in terms of political and legal issue. If political it would be condemnable. if it is viewed legally, I would advise you to go back and see all the international and regional legal documents (assenna why did you cut the former reminder?). 3) Is this aggression or not? What took place before this attempt is made, be it months back or not? Who provoked it? What is it objectives?
Again, the UNSC has no ground to consider this case whether it is raised by Russia or Communist China or for that matter by any other member. The SECRETARY GENERA, based on the specific article concerning his share has no ground to raise this case( I feel sorry not to give a detailed explanation because this is not the place). His unwarranted remarks since 2008 are also not to be forgotted. Well! To do what you have to do before you raise any issue concerning the security of the Horn is your share.
