A number of the major news agencies reported on 15 March 2012 that the Ethiopian armed forces carried out military raid in three different localities inside sovereign Eritrean territories. Without any qualms, the Ethiopian government’s spokesperson, who announced to the international media concerning the gratuitous aggression, also added that more attacks may be carried out in the future.
We in CDRiE unequivocally condemn this unprovoked and unjustified attack on Eritrean national sovereignty and call on the government of Ethiopia to immediately cease its threats of further escalation under any pretext. We urge instead both governments to seek peaceful and legal resolutions to their disagreements.
The attack on Eritrea’s sovereign territory is a very dangerous development that could lead to fully fledged confrontation with likely devastating consequences on the lives of the peoples of both countries. This will also exacerbate the already volatile political situation in the region.
Eritrea and Ethiopia have yet to recover from the effects of the last vicious and senseless war which resulted in the death of nearly 100,000 people and many more maimed limbs. War is the last thing the peoples of the two countries need. Not only are the devastating effects of the last war still apparent, but its root and proximate causes still remain unresolved. Many, if not all, of the salient conflicts in the region are directly or indirectly related on the one hand, to the unresolved border dispute between Eritrea and Ethiopia and on the other, to the mutual suspicion and hatred between the leaderships of the two countries.
CDRiE calls on the international community, in particular the United Nations Security Council and the African Union to take immediate action to nip in the bud the fledgling violent conflict before it is too late. The international and regional communities should bring pressure to bear on Ethiopia to comply with the United Nations’ Charter and other principles of international Law.

Responding to Mr T’s good question of “why?”
Abdela Jabir had been very vocal against G-15 along with Ali Abdu since 2001 but recently he had been removed from all the news outlets completely. He is feeling the cold and may be ready to jump at any moment.
Ghirma Asmerom is a very talented and capable professional diplomat. He is very ambitious and opportunist, somehow and rightly, he may feel that he had not been rewarded well enough accordingly. His counterparts in Ethiopia, Kenya and Sudan are doing very well but he had been neglected and ignored by Issaias. I feel, he is disappointed with the way things are going in Eritrea.

Will Issaias die like Gaddafi in his own birth place in Asmara or will he run away to Qatar like Mengistu did to Zimbabwe?
My answer: Issaias will flee to Qatar with his wife and children.
weldu March 18, 2012
And Qatar will hand him over to deki meret….and he will face his charges not in the hague but in asmara….I would give him life sentence in Sembel sjin….
Samar March 18, 2012
The press release alone is not enough, Isaias begs you to protect him from Meles Zenawi. CDRiE has to act urgently and join Isaias in his wars. The people of Eritrea will take a comfortable seat and watch you.
In fact CDRiE has released a press of its condemnation. They have confirmed to the people of Eritrea without skepticism they are a satellite of the regime.
Angesom March 18, 2012
Thank you Samar. You said the truth as it is. CDRiE would best fit in Meskerem.net I would advise them to read Romanticizing Ghedli from the heart that they can come to their senses.

I am against war; but not against a light strike, with virtually no effect on the Eritrean villagers….The light strikes do the job more better than massive attacks; the idiot, lunatic dictator in Eritrea will be more demoralized, and humilated; his sleepless nights, etc do the rest.
Cidre and people like me should be flexible, and appreciate the miracle of light strikes…Light strikes are without damages as long as every effort is done to minimize loss of lives- which is possible-, and the villagers are protected, and able to go with their lives in one way or another- which may not be worse than their situation, provided the next steps are carried out with great care as well.)
The dictator may flee much sooner than we have been expecting…He will be unable to bear the extra humilation, demoralizations; the generals may respond negatively to his messages despite their long years of useful idiotism…..The dictator’s wife may be clever this time, and advise the dictator that he should flee to Qatar, instead of risking the safety of his family, etc.
Cidre and people like me should be flexible, instead of being unselective bunch…
Samar March 18, 2012
Solomon,
I don’t see in your comment you and CDRiE are the same. They totally condemn the dictator to be touched by any force even by an Eritrean force, at the time you call for light strikes. I think you are in different worlds. Please, read their press release then speak about selective and unselective bunches.

There is no International Law, International Humanitarian Law, Human rights law, or equivalent laws which condone or else support or defend kidnapping of innocent civilians be they foreigners or Ethiopian citizens. Why did you keep quiet while all these were going on???? A country has all the rights to defend its people & its territory from the incursion of terrorists, pirates, hostage takers. What a shame you people kept quiet when the bodies of Eriterians are slaughtered by the same totalitarian state. Now, you started showing in favor of a butcher state, a totalitarian dictator & host of more than seven terrorist organizations. Please first study the laws and then argue or call for help. The intentional community will be advised to take care of its mandate & its responsibility. Sovereignty in terms of terrorism, piracy and kidnapping of tourists, in whatever name, is an empty set according to the international laws. Sovereignty has become just a buzz word. No one can sit silent when innocent people are butchered, imprisoned, and all inhuman treatments are conducted over them. Please look at the conventions and declarations of the AU, the UN and other regional legal instruments. America watch out of your spoiled and double faced citizens!!!!

CDrie is another outlet for the Isaias regime. They are always against the seemingly good of Eritrean move. I’m very suspicious of their intended presence in the Eritrean Political and Civil arena.

Isayas may be gone sooner or later , but what is next? “SELF DETERMINATION UP TO INDEPENDENCE”? like Ethiopia or secterian conflict , or what is gonna happen to this unfortunate beutiful country my heart bleeds when I think about her !!
