The people of Eritrea are subjected to extreme human rights violations by PFDJ; the institution of the family is put under extreme pressure as the most productive member of the family is forced to work for free under the Warsay and Yekealo development project for an indefinite period of time.

The allegations she stated against him in her article, “Asmara Rose Responds to Saleh Gadi and the Awate Team” were not just unfounded but intolerant in our culture. Her article sent shivers in the cyber community that mobilized many of us to give a lesson to PFDJ thugs in the land of law.

In 1992, an old Eritrean lady came to Asmara, Eritrea from New York city in the United States. She was one of countless Eritreans who were returning or coming for the first time after Independence. But she was special and want an audience with the then Provisional and the now president for life Issias Afewerki. The old lady, Adey Desta, was a legend among Eritreans in the United States and New York area. She was like a mother to many Eritrean Immigrants and she helped a lot of people.

A friend of mine from the area where I live who was as frustrated as many of us by the negative reaction of some Eritreans to the EEPA Conference in Brussels said “ I bet if we were delivered Eritrea free of the dictator today, right now you would see all kinds of people from the opposition coming out of the woods to register their objection to the offer.” That statement is a precise description of the conduct we are witnessing these days.

The conference organized by EEPA( Externa European policy advisory) to align the US and EU policy on democracy and human rights abuse in Eritrea is a solidarity action for humanity and is welcome by the Eritrean people. International support and advice is a human action and must be appreciated. Strictly speaking, come the month of September, the people of Eritrea have mixed feelings for very good reasons. 18th of September is the day in the infamous year 2001(September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on New York City) when Democracy was officially killed and buried then and there and the reign of overt tyranny officially befell the people and country of Eritrea. The undisputed culprit: No other than the one and only, the self-styled-president-for-life Isias Afewarki.
