The majority of the liberation fronts and rebel groups that sprouted in the Third World, in the Fifties, Sixties and after, had been known for their admiration of Maoist and Marxist philosophies, and for nations committed to those philosophies, therefore, they saw very little or no virtue in the Western style of democracy, which is based on free press, democratic elections, and three separate branches of government: the legislative, executive and judiciary.
