People’s integrity is questioned when information about their shady or corrupt practices comes to surface. Even if Elsa is doing a good job she is a human being and she needs to know no one is untouchable nor can anyone do us they please with impunity. By the way, as human rights advocate she needs to remember that she is at the forefront and people are watching her every move. That is why she should have been transparent and accountable. One more thing why did she not disclose the amount of the grant? Why did she want her brother in law and his wife to organize a meeting for her when there were others who were more than willing and who could have accomplished the task better? Why did she oppose reconciliation among the Teshamo group? The writer is not simply accusing Elsa of wrongdoings. He is giving examples and raising issues that help one see Elsa in the proper light.
Grants are given because our people inside the country is living under dictatorship. Grants therefore need to be put to good use. Be transparent and accountable first, folks.
