Indeed General Uqube is a man of courage. He tried his best to bring the dictator into his sense but as any dictator would do, DIA instead of accepting his mistakes he punished the honorable General. Very sad!

This is really horrible to read,
I am really sympathetic to Oqube Abraha. Oqube looked very innocent in his letter and thinking for real change. But the response from the brutal leader was really terrifying. I can feel the pains of oqube Abrha, specialy when he got that letter noting his suspension from all positions. Oqube Abrha’s last response (letter no.6) was really heart breaking. God bless your family Oqube.
But what always susrpreises me is that after working with this barbaric leader for more than 20 years, how it came to be that they did not know how brutal this man was.

In a civilized government, this communication between high ranking general and President is serious. One can expect investigations etc… but EPLF/Isayas is led by force , not by democratic ways.
The G15 are ” Gedaym” tegadelti. They know isayas and his paranoia. They know him because they have seen him how he eliminated many brilliant tegadelty who stood up for him. They know how many smart intellectual people died in ” halewa sewra”. AND YET g15/General O. decided to challenge isayas . The letters are asking trouble in a way a suicidal ..Did he thought isayas has changed after 1991?I do not get it!

When I read the letters I just feel sorry for those naive generals and some of the G15 guys who were always two step backward from Isayas. Isayas is brutal dictator but a dictator who is smart and very clever guy who can read the mind of his ministers and army officers. He is a lion in front of all these helpless individuals who behaved like lazy dogs who had been working for decades with him but not good enough to make the right decision in the right time.He never did a mistake in 50 years to fail in the hands of his opponents.How on earth you write a letter to dictator to tell him he is doing wrong…what did he expect? Thank you General for your constructive idea or I step down from my presidency? Even Petros Solomon was not good enough as a man head of the Security to know who exactly who Isayas is…all end up in Era Ero because they were not good enough to go one step forward before the dictator. The same way Mengistu ,a simple soldier, killed all the Generals who had a master degree from Royal Academy when they planned to overthrow him. The Generals could not see the reality on the ground and disagree to shot down the plane in the air ..but Mengistu landed safely and killed them all and danced on their funeral.When you speak with dictator, speak the language he understands, when you use force use force so he can not have the second chance to come to you.If you are not sure please keep quite and save your life and the life of others.Do not bring other in danger because of your useless plan.I hate when i hear the G15 excuse ..we knew that we will end up in prison..we wanted to be more Democratic …bla bla how can you be democrat in the land there is no democracy and rule of law?

For our amusement even some of their workers in Eritrean gov. offices managed to buy a house for themselves where
many working Eritreans couldn’t afford to own the same value . That is why I like to call it DIRTY POLITICS .
