I will have to digress again. I just finished listening to an interview where an English VOA programme interviewed Isaias as he is staying in New York. For starters, Isaias is pictured sitting on a lazy sofa where he gives an impression to the reader as if Isaias has been drinking his brains out. I ain’t kidding. You could as well sense it in his tone of voice where he sounds sleepy. As I listened with an ample interest, his interview with Al-Jazzera a few years back flashed in my mind as Isaias accused or tried to embarrass the anchor when Isaias said, “I am sure you got the list of questions from Langley or some special interest groups.” I say, it was kind of de ja vu as Isaias said to the VOA guy with a stern warning to use his head instead of being fed with list of questions that “distort” the real picture of Eritrea. Of course, Isaias said it to the VOA guy, when the latter asked Isaias if Eritrea is a pariah state with out a functioning democratic institutions. Isaias went on to say that, Eritrea has the highest level of freedom of press and speech where the people have an access to find out the truth and have an access to express their opinion as they see it fit. When he was asked about opposition groups, he went defensive and said, there are no opposition groups but if there are one would like to know how much money are they getting to disseminate their propaganda. One thing that stole the show is however, when Isaias was asked if there is a drought or a famine in Eritrea. This is what Isaias said with a sarcastic tone: We have an ample food in Eritrea to the extent that if the international community asks us, we would be glad to ship enough food to Somalia. And I say to myself, Eritrea is super lucky to have a leader like Isaias. No wonder, yesterday Eritreans came out en mass to see him and worship the ground he walks on. No wonder the whole world is envious of him.

this is not your Eritrea, this is the country where people get respected. It is good lesson how these people terrorize their own obedient and loyal citizens, but now they can see that the fear is broken and ISSIAS always used to come through front door now he has to run keeping his tail behind. This scenario sends the message that these people and others associated can not walk freely in any place, they do understand one thing, Betre. They think that because the Eritrean people keep silent having a big heart they thought that they are their subjects for ever.

It is also a message for the Eritrean Defense Forces , no more to keep their silent, and continue become the subject to threaten their people. These people are under terrorist list , they do not have any where to go, no one likes them even in Africa.
The youth in Eritrea can not suffer in the hands of its abusers but take the matter into his hands, and gone stop wondering around the world, looking for home. We have home once these people gone.

Just Remind your president to send the excess food to Somalia.

  • tokorba- calling a spade a spade is not an insult September 27, 2011

They gave monkey what he deserved. He is the man behind all the nasty things in eritrea. He is the one who conives with the mad man and prisons, tortures and kills innocent people, leaving alone betraying his friends like Petros and wedi kekiya. Ofcourse it is in his blood. He was found naked with weini gebrezghabiher in the field (meda) who was at that time the wife of yosief. And it is not a surprise to see him with a lady in NY. The guys called him Agame. They did not insult him. They called him by his sub-ethnic identity. That is all. He is from Agame, just like wedi medihin berad. His mom is. Abuu ukua kab hindi yu haki zereba. So this guys called a spade a spade. Way to go brothers. You did make him aware that there is a saying in tigrigna…kem kedem yimesilekin wihij yiwesdekin. congratulations bros.

Let me add you something about Yemane he is one of the most coward tegadaly. kab gize ghedli jemiru ane kab zifelto Yemane bi afu endahasewe eyu zinbir. Nay esayas kurkur silezinebere tiray eyu ember yemane kem sebay ab zikone awdi wigie iytirekbon eka. I remember when he was shivering and running a way from wind noise (he thought it was mig plane) in shabait. Kidmi kulom manajus hadimu ab ghereb tehabiu.

  • Mesker September 27, 2011

Yemane Was Confident Walking on the streets of New York, He ignored the vulgars, gangs, streetboys and idots. They have no guts to strech their hands, they have only defecated throug their mouth, simply they are losers who live on social security benefits in their youth age

    • Concerned Eritrawi September 27, 2011

      To Mesker,
You stated “They have no guts to strech their hands,” The young Men are much more better then you and your master. they did what they intended to do. They gave him a life lesson that he will take to his grave with him. Made him think of life and death but they are very human being unlike the gang himself.

These are not HIGDEF supporters who live with the public aid, these people have to work this is America, but Monkey and his co,are stealing Eritrean money and they use it to terrorize their people. In fact it is shame to see the Eritrean officials, married man, who is taking a woman( may be she is the wife of someone) in public, no officials do that, this is the day to day life of these officials and PIA, drinking, sleeping with women and partying in public in Asmara. I am really sorry this people to lead the niece Eritrean people.

But these young did a wonderful job, which will be history, and show how low life the Eritrean officials, even PIA, used to pull some one girl friend in Asmara night clubs and you deaf supporters keep on praising these low life people

    Gerima says:September 26, 2011 at 4:27 pm
Yemane, the diplomat, went to their Hotel to get their names and details but the gang don’t even sense that. Idiots!

@Gerima, simply that is not true. I do not know what made Yemane went in the Hotel, but he has no right of having any names of the hotel guests from the personal I mean no hotel policy/rules can allow that unless requested by the authorities.

There is no denying that Ato Yemane has many questions to answer. It is understandable that the young men have a boiling anger in them as Ato Yemane is one of or the main architect of the misery of the Eritrean people. It is commendable of them that they did not resort to physically harm him.

However, one of them vented his anger unwisely. I say this is a lesson for everyone: we should not call names but stick to facts (which there are many in case of Ato Yemane). He is lucky he can walk in New York while his teachers like Haile Duru, Petros Solomon, Mahmud Sherifo, and many others have not had the chance to see their loved ones…some of them have died in the hands of Ato Yeman’s regime. The country of Eritrea is turned into a big prison, with no rule of law whatsoever. People are languishing in detention camps, and many more are dying of hunger.

Human beings cannot live without laws. Ato Yemane’s regime thinks they can govern without rules. His challengers showed him civility by not resorting to the same rules he follows to liquidate his opponents, and destroying the whole country. If they had hurt him physically, perhaps the laws of the civilized USA would have treated them much more justly.

The young men should be commended for their effort, courage, and civility (except the one slip referring to his ancestry).

It seems that Eritreans are being liberated from the fear Ato Yeman’s regime instilled in us all. Thanks God for that!!
