Welcome Refugees Policy; Is a Solution or an Illusion for Eritreans?

The refugee crisis is in its highest pick after the WWII according to Al-Jazeera and BBC news rooms. This refugee influxes is resulting a number of geo-political dynamics at a global scale. Most western governments are taking refugee crisis a serious matter. They are taking up many refugees on humanitarian ground and some for political motives; even using refugee’s intake as a political tool to bid elections. The causes of migration are multi-faceted that differ from region to region, among which war, famine, natural disaster, ethnic conflict, political tension are common. Most of the countries and regions contributing to the highest number of refugees in the world today are affected by one or combination of the above factors further blazed by external forces (war in Syria, Iraqi, Somalia and Afghanistan). All the above dynamic are beyond the ability of the ordinary people to overcome them.
Let me come to our Eritrean situation. Eritrea is the second largest contributing of refugees to date (according to media and UN reports). However, when we see the root cause of Eritrean refugee exodus, it is none of above factors, but only dictatorship. If this trend going to continue, sooner than later, it is going to challenges our very existents as a people and nation. The kidnapping, killing and death of our fellow Eritreans is becoming the norm of the day than terrible news. The magnitude of damages that has been unfold in the last 10 years are clear indication where will be ending in few years (generation are diminishing, institutions are demolishing, our image as people is stereotyped, ignorance is promoting…..etc). In some ways, we are lucky that our situation is not so far complicated by external factors. Therefore, unlike the other refugees our destiny is on our hand; however, if we as a people failed to do our part, there is no doubt someone will step in and the situation may take a different twist.
What are the solutions then? Continue to rick our very indispensable life in the deserts of Sahara, Sinai or the brutal Mediterranean sea? These are all much more dangerous than the dictators at home; he is not a mighty, but only a human being ruled by common human sense like every one of us. In the final analysis, unless we furiously fight back this dictator and protect our rights being in Eritrea or outside, our fatless migration or influencing refugee policy (welcome) will not be solution. My final petition to all Eritrean from every walk of life, including, human rights and political activists and civic organizations and individuals is to tighten our belt and work together!!! Work together!!! Work together!!! to fight back the tyranny more strongly than he can withstand. Let’s not entangled by our personal emotions and differences; rather Our aim is crystal clear, to end dictatorship in Eritrea and prevail democratic Eritrea where all its citizens will enjoy the fruit of their labour equally with no fear and operation. Therefore, whosoever believes on our prime goal, regardless of ethnicity, religious sect, origin (if Eritrean in sprit) should be welcome to join the struggle. If we continue to flight among ourselves, we choose to prolong our agony; it is not the fault of anyone, but ours.
In recent month we have seen people in Iraqi with a might power taking onto the streets of Bagdad demanding electricity and water supply. Our situation is much more dire that deserves struggle and sacrifices.
Let me close up my note by a quotation from one the greatest man in humanity, Albert Einstein which is related to our situation “The world is not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything” . This means, we are not only responsible for our action, but for out in-action also”
Please note that objective and purposeful comments contributing to address our current situation are most welcome.

There are two schools of thought here in the diaspora, there are that say..
1) there is enough Eritreans in the diaspora, so the rest should stay in the country and fight,as there is more than enough population in the diaspora,to replace that sacrifice their life in the process.
2) this are that have already lost hope and say ,”hizbe tigrinya are changing in to tegaru ,as demhit have bred more than enough befgore they left Eritrea….so ,we are back to square one ,as it has been for 3000+ years.
I am not sure ,if there is really a good choice here.I wish there was a third option.

I agree with Frewengel, like I always say, blame no one , but ourselves , this is a self inflicted wound. The tyrant and his accomplices are executing the mission that they set out for, to wipe out the Eritrean identity and it’s core value. And they are doing it from every angle , and with every weapon at their disposal to annihilate it. Now, my fellow Eritreans, it is up to us to counter this assault by assembling every arsenal we have got , and launch a well coordinated counterattack , politically, diplomatically, psychologically, propaganda,….if needed militarily. Otherwise, if we maintain the stance of the status ques, I don’t want to contemplate the ensuing consequences.

Dear Frewengel,
I completely agree with your analysis of our current fair. We are complaining and moaning day in day out others to play our own role or to sort our problems. We accustomed to blame other for our suffering and we look into UN, CIA,AU,Ethiopia and NGO’s etc to sort out our problems. We never being honest and look at our self. Flying form our country won’t relieve our suffering but aggravated it to max. We became confused and lost our direction as people. The very victims of the horrible organization you can see them courting with their tormentor after the escaped the cage( Eritrea). They don’t know their rights as citizen and their abuse would be acceptable as normal. It would be very very tough to turnaround Eritrea from its current situation. But it is worth trying as last push. there is still little chance to salvage Eritrea i.e to eliminate PFDJ immediately without but or if. The only way to deal with the monster is head on.

When we act like responsible people for ourselves honestly ;
WHAT DID I DO WRONG TO HURT MY COUNTRY ?
Then we might acknowledge our inclusive faults to create our
own EVIL in the land which costed its precious children to
finish off its next young generation . If we made EVIL how
come impossible to destroy him especially the know how
high post politicians blinded to fell at prepared deep hole .
The writer stated ; we are not responsible only for our action
but also for our out in-action . That is exactly majority of our
people have shown their side weakness the whole world to
witness at the expense of their fellows misery . Time to rise
up and advocate for right against wrong to save those in need
in support the call of DELEYTI FITHI voices . The more we
unite for common goal the more we get stronger .

Dear Frewengel: your assessment of the refugee situation is accurate. You are right the solution lies in the hands of Eritreans in that you expressed the need to unite to present a strong challenge. There is a problem the people are not realizing their power. It is a situation seen in many countries in the past . When People internalize the system that oppresses them they simply give up to fight back. They accept the status quo and prefer to run away. It needs a leadership that has the capacity of influencing people or campaign to raise the level of consciousness of the people which is totally absent. Amanuel Sahle is trying his best in this area. His writing is invaluable but it has to be organized in a teaching material and taught in group studies.
