Please when responding to sold out people do not compromise . To politicize the war of Mereb after the war of GOLGOL-SELAE DAERO
is irresponsible and sickening comment . In GHEDLI the frontier units are strongly bonded like a family free from such kind arrogant
minds . So please talk about politics or politicians but leave the innocent brave men/women . For your information , most of known
experienced fighters in Kebessa hailed from highlands sacrificed on those wars . That is the truth , brother . AYTEZARUBUNA . If
you want I can mention many of them or go to those peasants of the region to tell you all . I am Asmera born and raised but thanks
God to know my people because of GHEDLI .
Remember when Ghedli were liberating the cities and Weyane claimed Badme behind their back . Then when Ethiopia
reclaimed again to make them retreat , then ELF again waged a war against WEYANE to kick them out from our land .
After they get rid of those betrayers who ELF did a lot of favor , EPLF started their campaign against ELF by
saying ” AMMA ASFAFAHIT ” . I was young to understand the whole truth back then to feel suspicious at everything .
Well at the end ………………………………………… what more can I say . see yourself .
I AM WONDERING this man named “Haile” how he perceives and interprets things from the past and now.each time I read his comments theyare very confusing for me sorry to that – his stance is nor clear who he disagree and who he agree.
Every journey of evolution has junkies and evils greedy people at the same time good people that paid price for real result. how come it was wrong according to haile to mention the evils(these dragged the evolution back and the good ( these paid price and raised it up to the next stage).
I do not see wrong from yemane.
Brother Ahmed,
I wish every Asmera person was as geniune as you are. Even on the cyber screen your genuinity is felt. what you stated in your comment @ “ahmed saleh on September 6, 2014 at 2:25 am said:” has ABSOLUTE TRUTH. As my cousins (in particular my hero Fanus) who died for ELF were all from the Seraye meraguz/tekela area. we knwo of so many relatives & distant relatives and their deqi-Adi who died for their people under the front ELF. These frontline tegadelti were the true Honest heroes not the likes of Sebhat Efrem who enjoyed life out of harms way. Frontline tegadelti gave it all & have nothing to do with all the betrayers: The leaderships, the cadres, the messengers who knew real well. Now they claim Isaias decided it all. He did, But, they executed it all, didn’t they?
Life’s surprise packages took my cousin & I to Eritrea to witness History at those critical history of Gedli of 1977/78. No plan we were just those mischief, perceptive (ala the Asmara QenTe menTi kids) Addis kids following our grandma & her friends who headed to mendeferra & surroundings (Tekela, meraguz, mechaEda) woredattat…
Our trip ardous as it was on buses, lorries, on foot to get to Mendefera (enroute Mekelle, Adi grat, Zalanbessa) our first taste of a free town of the then Eritrea was tsorona. When we got to tsorona after about 8HRs of walk (?I think as we had elderly in the group) at around sunset tsorona center was buzzing in setting up a stage. we being the curious kids, snooping around and mingling suddenly came face to face with huge crowd. Darkness fell and those generators were turned on. The stage was set to receive the big mouths. To our surprise, an afro well built familar face showed up to the stage with his krar and we were stunned. The people roared. My cousin whispered. Hey that is Bereket Mengesteab. I hushed my cousin not to speak Amharic. Even as kids we were not sure if we were safe amonst “our people”. we were surprised to see Bereket in person as we only knew his voices. Then came the songs. He sang this. That is how people like Bereket Menegesteab played a key role to build the Eritrea the now is. In exaceberating & pouring oil to the dangerous firs of civil war that consumed our ordinary tegadelti.
He sang this:
ዋህዮ ንዮ በላ ዋህዮ ንዮ በላ
ሕንፍሽፍሽ ዝኣመላ ….
..my cousin & I looked at eachother in these tigrigna words that we never heard before. He asked me what is ዋህዮ ንዮ በላ ? what kind of lady is he singing for? you heard that female name before? I said, no. All I know is his Melinu ዘዋሪት ማኪና… He laughed and we kept imaging & wondering and even admiring the then Berekt. Typical of Eritreans he betrays the real Eritreans those who set out to free their people in all honesty.
..and a certain Haile came afterwards and sang
ገመለይ ገመለይ ዛ’ባዓልቲ ግርማ
..we loved this song although we had NO idea what its message was….
so Ahmed, brother, what Yosief G.Hiwet writes about the forceful peasants giffa, the forceful kuadere albeit their meager resources, we witnessed it in 1977/78 right around Menedefera. ELF was hit big time when Derg was pushing hard & disloding it from Adi Quala & Mendefera. ELF forcefully recruited so many young peasants. we were right there in the surrounding of Imni haili witnessing history unravel. Many in short training became victims of Derg’s then powerful, high-moral bullets.. painful histroy. we were just glad we didn’t stay there to grow up in that environment. But, that love for the ordinary never left our minds. we just feel sorry for those who are betrayed.
brother -don’t kill yourself arguing with people who are as cruel as DIA. Eritrea probably has 1% good nature, humane people. forget the rest. what you see is what you get!
The irony is – Bereket Mengeisteab is a true reflections of the majority of Eritreans. It is a statement that is valid. Reality on the ground speaks for itself!
He blasted EPLF then with this songs ዋህዮ ንዮ በላ ዋህዮ ንዮ በላ back in the days… and he has been a bed-fellow since when ?? as for EPLF as a front, as a criminal organization, how many times it used, re-used Eritreans (individuals – remember our ordinary frontline tegedelti were individuals with dreams of life, with dreams to live & die a natural death) and if it is really time it puts them to rest before the maker calls them, it has. Remember all these (to mention just few) that EPLF/PFDJ used, re-used & ultimately, inevitabley put them to rest (And why do I have a feeling all these “Isaias decide it all” knew the mode-of-Operandi becasue they executed it):
a) the Adetat of maids all over the world that gave it all
b) Our sisters tegadelti who were later, post-Ind, betrayed by their male tegadelti husbands in going for the city girls.
c) how about singers, dancers: use one when popular then discard when their popularity dies out. Now who played the biggest role in this game of use & throw? As before, All Eritreans who were after fame, name, wealtht both inside & outside Eritrea. If Eritreans HAD any sense of rule-of-law from the get-go, they would have asked it at dawn not at Dusk as they now do.
d) city girls used, r-used, misused. Eritrea as a nation along its culture trashed in particualr after UNMEE set foot. The girls, the people were lured by dollars from the new arrivals, the new predators….And Eritreans typically slept on their mind. The Asmara mothers tasting dollars or to be equal to those who have children abroad even justified their girls’ becoming “child prostitutes” …
…irt is too much to take about how Eritreans think and are wired.!
No body brags than Eritreans in the word “sacrifice” but to only use it for their individual gains. Sebhat Efrem and others used it then, so many new Sebhats are using it…
Remember the Er-Americvan girls how PFDJ used them. PFDJ sure knows the mindset of Eritreans.
But who is PFDJ? Eritreans! That simple! Sebhat Efrem is an Eritrean, majus is, Petro Solomon is, Derue is. What were they doing when their country, culture was being devoured? THE KNEW FULL WELL! Strange they decided to be killed/imprisoned -dead-men-walking- by their tormentor that they served so well and knew so well! if this was not an imprisoned mind of theirs to his, then what is?
Dear brother facts
It is irresponsible and betrayal to entertain with political skirmishers

selam Ma E Kobay,
On the issue of Jebha and its crimes, we are not that far. My short coming may have been to distinguish between its leaders, cadres and the poor tegadeltis who were used as pawns. On the other hand, your focus was on the area that you grew up, please use that to extrapolate the crimes Jebha had committed in other regions of Eritrea, plus the ones I mentioned. I repeat: the criminals in Jebha were not different from the criminals in shaebia. They all have used Eritreans as their condoms, especially to the christian-Kebesa tegadelti.

Jebha were criminals but I believe the top leaders were criminals.
1. they used to grab food for their army from the farmers of seraye through their selected agent QAdere and they beat farmers mercilessly if they fail to provide food for their fighters.
2. They robbed farmers property and their animals – goats, sheeps and cattles and fed them all.
3. They used to recruit kids younger than 10 years old – if their family hide them they arrest their family too.
4. they claimed they were so smart and sophisticated that they had the ability to crave out a pure bone out of the legs of flies.
5. they designed HiJum according to the Fighters ethnicity-these Christian highlanders first rows then the muslim second rows. this happened June 1978 at the fiercest war on the Mereb escarpment mountains and a particular named GraT TsaDiK flat Plains. The war also took 31 nights and days none stop (hand to hand combat, several anti air craft guns, heavy artillery, BM rockets, heavy air bombardments), extended on about 60km from south north of tigray and into the highlands of seraye villages.
6. they Jebha attacked Qohain villages and farmers in the early 1970s for no reason and the Qohain responded with organized army just to revenge them because they saw their family killed and maimed. The moment the Jebha aggression happened on the innocent Qohain villages,The evil greedy Asrate Kasa the then governor of Eritrea responded with arming Qohain for his benefits that he landed a big helicopter full of guns, bullets and bombs and binoculars so they can fight back Jebha though the Qohain again taken advantage and purposely drawn to war they never interested. the victims of Qohain villages and people by Jebha were few however the rest people fall in love with the modern guns they did not knew where they had headed and they could not figure out the tricky behind the free guns and bombs offer from Asrate Kasa Amharay.”
