    selam ato yemane,
You are a heroic and courageous man. Thank you for speaking up and telling us the true history of Ghedli, that is the lies of Ghedli that many Ghedli romantics would not dare to talk about.

It is sad the Eritrean peasants, women and tegadelti were used and thrown for Issaias Afewrki.
it is sad to hear many Eritrea women and girls were abused and raped by Ghedli leaders. This crime was even wide spread in Jebha too but many Jebhas like to gloat on Issaias crimes but not to talk about themselves. The only heroic ex Jebha girl, I think she was Senayt Mehari, who spoke was put down by the Ghedli Romantics in Jebha

    Yemane,

If I haven’t already, I would like to thank you for clearing some of the fog from the murky Ghedli era. It is liberating to know and to understand this history. There are many who will go to their grave with their secrets. They do a great disservice to the cause they fought for and the Eritrean people.

I also hope that you were finally able to reunite with your parents and siblings. Like most Eritrean families, they suffered and endured more than their share. As a people, I believe we are among the most traumatized and violated. Relief for our people has been long overdue!

If at all possible, I would like to pose some more questions for You.

    1. I became confused by why you followed Adiam after your conversation with the hotel owner from Syria. Were you somehow intending to influence her? Or were you hoping to explain yourself? She could have been armed and dangerous. My instinct would have been to try to avoid such a person.

    2. In one of the previous segments, you mentioned that you met Julius Nyerere, who was the president of Tanzania. I believe this was also when you encountered the late Haile Garza.
I’m a bit confused by this. My recollection is that Nyerere unlike his country man from Zanzibar Babu was opposed to the idea of Eritrean independence. It was odd because he did support Biafra during the war of secession in the late 60s. I assumed he was worried about the Eritrean example encouraging secessionist tendencies in Tanzania.
You mentioned that he advised/recommended that Eritreans unite. Did he have a change of heart after retiring from his presidency?
Do you have any more insight into why he decided to meet Eritreans in Mogadishu?

3.Can you give some examples about your intelligence work in Somalia? When you were in Somalia, did you deal with Meles Zenawi?
I’m told he was in Somalia sometime in the 80s.
As you described, the reality now is completely different. There really isn’t anything that could be compromised by your account. But I think it would help your listeners to learn about some of your activities in Somalia.

    Thank you again.

    To Delia Fithi
You are pretending as if you like Yamane’s Interview actually at you are trying to create doubt about Yamane. Some of the buzz words you through out there such as Meles in Somalia, meeting Julius Nyerere and needing example of intelligence work?
Yamane is genuine EPLF fighter with issues about the organization. Issues that many of us raising at this time.
So you can stop pretending you rea not fooling us. I would respect your openion if you come out openly reject the issues Yamane raised.

    • Delai Fithi November 9, 2014

      Jack,

      1. First, please learn how to spell Yemane’s name properly.
      2. Please speak for your paranoid self and not hide behind a false “us”.

      • jackKangette November 10, 2014

My response to you achieves its goal; you understood that I know your intention. As per spelling error as long as you are around you will correct me that am fine.
To point again you continue to create division and doubt about Yemane. Now you are talking about Eritrean who grew or born in Ethiopia.

  • Mike November 9, 2014

Already – I hear you all loud and clear responding to my comment. Open to your calls that Mr Yemane is all great. No argument with that. But always leave the fact that others also have a mind of their own where they understand their own way as well. Leave some room to fall back. Do not be a fool.

Remember – Had Eritreans spoken out back in early 1990’s, it is possible that Eritrea would have taken a different path – a remote maybe. One side had to win, however, the battle and to this point I see Ethiopian gov. has capitalizing on it regardless they (Ethiopians) are right or wrong.

What are we doing about it?

  • M.HAGHOS November 9, 2014

Some of Eritrea people have been cheated for nearly two decades by Haile Sillasse because he was using religion tool for his crimes target as well Weddi Khommarit Isiyas with more smart ways for more than five decades ,because Haile he Sillasse and Isiyas are from the back ground all of them are Deqqi Wesen that why all of them have been had a hating mental to their community belong to.

    Delai Fithi,
In your comments & questions at these lines were simply excellent & spot on.

With all due respect to you, first a comment to you:
    a) you sounding an elucidated, educated person & writing elegantely and you being an Eritrean generation of that era (sensing from reading between the line of your comments) – just take yourself back into that era of Analog Information flow. Were you receiving instant, substantial, first hand information flow to make a decision of life-n-death?

One’s (Eritreans’ in Eritrea & Ethiopia at the time) location itself tells a tale [at the time (1974-1979) ] whether a person passinately joined Gedli or circumstance forced one to join Gedli. you know it. Those of us Addis kids have witnessed it when our brothers/sisters/cousins chose to head north towards Eritrea instead of West Ethiopia towards Kenya. why no body forced them to? But they thought their brothers/sisters/cousins/relatives in eritrea were waging a war to liberate themselcves. Never Crossed in our minds that our Eritrea people back then & after independence for instance would label us all kind of names. had our Addis brothers/sisters , the likes of Ato Yemane, Aforki Tekle who was a hot-shot & killed with the Menkae group, known this, they would have headed West instead.

so that era being in Addis & Eritrea itself had itself a story why each tegadaly/it from Eritrea and Addis joined. Willingly, passionately or soceital pressure and forceful recruits, and other reasons?

so you have to take yourself back to that exact era when you ask the decisions, and all those things taken by Ato Yemane & others.

Onething is for sure, Ato Yemane being in that position he was is not doing himself a favor
    a) by NOT presenting his historical narrations in a very highly organized, solid, detalish method.
    b) For some strange reason, he is trivilizing, simplifying what he is uncovering. he simply thinks he is just talking a chitchat episode. He is not. What he is uncovering costed so many ordinary tegadletis’ life in life & even after death. so many agonies & pains in the millions parents that are now understanding how their children their boys & girls were used by gedli that Gedli that millions saw it as sacred. can you believe the inner pain?

Our dead brothers and sisters who were the frontline hero/ines are NOT resting in peace after giving their dear life.

so all your questions & comments are good. But, take yourself back to that era. It is easy to judge that analog era from a digital era because the digital era has made every knucklehead Eritrean abroad an intelligent and the rest has become chawchaweta of 20 years while Gedli leaders are doing what best they have been doing for the previous 30 years. For them it is .. the mode-of-operandi of meida ..to be continued by any means necessary in the liberated Eritrea and they have.

so imho, Ato Yemane can only be criticized in the manner he is presenting his historical narration. Since he doesn’t give it that much weight (i feel he’s become desensitized by Gedli) of the deep pain in parents he narrates it w
    a) with no emotions or accepting responsibility/accountability (although he set out to do good ) that his IG task could have costed so many their dear lives. No human being with intelligence & humanity can rationlize our brothers/sisters/people wasted lives by stating it was necessary to sustain Gedli. Because there was no need to kill so many haile Grza, Yemane T, Dayan Yosef, and the ethiopian.

But the truth was simply Gedli leaders simply lived in their utopia world where they did anything they pleased.

because they didn’t have to do the wrongs to do the right. And they knew what they were doing wasn’t to make the wrong right but to make the right wrong at any cost as long as they eventually, inevitably come to power. In the end those key players such as Petros Solomon had to pay the price, inevitably. YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW!

If Petros Solomon was for the people, he would not have hesitated to eliminate Isaias. However, deep in his soul, his conviction, execution of things, ideolgy, the blood-drenched soul HAD NEVER BEEN different than Isaias. And how one earth one expected him to be different in 2001 although he from a weakend angle called his boss to become teamplayer as before without alienating his buddies, his loyal executors? What does their plea has to do the people of Eritrea? Nothing, imho! They had already sold the Eritrean people to Isaias very very long time ago!

    Best!

    By the way,
ገዛእቲ ኢትዮጵያ (Emperor, Derg systems) ኣሽንባይዶ ንኤርትራውያን ንኢትዮጵያውን ከማን institutional killed, destituted them.

The only reason ordinary Eritreans & Ethiopians are at eachother’s neck is simply because these evil leaders exploited them with non-sensical nationalism that only benefit the few. Wherever this mode-of-operandi is used.

And today Shaelqa Dawit Woldegiorgis who be;lieved & served Derg in the highest position is still not coming to terms with “weyane”. Has “weyane” killed Ethiopians the way derg did? “weyane” to Ethiopians is heaven comparing to Derg yet the likes of Shaelqa Dawit are having sleepless nights the fact that their brethern from North (in the eyes os Amara like him Tigrawot are not good enough to lead or represent Ethiopia) . He is faiing his conscience to reconcile with reality. After all, under EPRDF, Ethiopia has remarkably joined the world while Derg devestated it in 17 years. Derg not only killed, maimed Eritreans but also Ethiopians in the ten thousands. And the 1984 famine in Tigray was under the nose of Derg that was its making while it spent 10mi dollar to build a wozaderoch statue at Cherchil road at the foot of Blacklion hospital.

so those of you Eritreans come to terms and reconcile with your conscience and embrace the Ethiopian people (in particular the people of Tigray) as your neigbors.

If you ask those of us Addis kids like myself who dearly undrestands citizens versus Institution (evil gov’t) , we simply love our ordinary Ethiopians., their language, their nature the way we had once loved our Eritreans from afar so dearly, so beautifully. T

The few always manipulate the mass so people like Shaelqa dawit must be watched out. & even confronted. Can you believe he is now with “Eritreans” to mend “people to people” .. can you believe that? He is refusing to embrace his Ethiopians (Tigray people) and yet he is working on a “organization that brings Eritreans & ethiopians” ? Heaven mercy mercy !

And sadly people like Saleh Gadi, Michael Abreha are telling Eritreans that Shaleqa Dawit was a good governor in Eritrea? Wasn’t his mission to seduce eritreans appearing an angel? Isn’t that what Isaias has done all along until he knew he was in control?

  • Truly Truly i say to you November 9, 2014

For Wdi Habtai´s and mike alike stupid argument, “Where were you up to now?” “what was your role, expose your crime self ? something bla bla!” I think Tegadalay Yemane self, our sister Helen and others because already gave very compatible satisfactory answer, adding two points:-
    a) Because he doing somthing now to compensate his people, it considers like repentance and apology
    b) even he killed whom ever since he was an ordinary soldier, who taking command from others higher officers than over him , understanding his military obligation task,
i do not blame or see him like criminal. saying that i don´t like to add any more. But understanding Tegadalay Yeman´s logic answer for his scares, it seems me the defected former PFDJ high ranking officials, like the former information minister Ali Abdu and others, even Mesfin Hagos be, the reason for their fear and silence not to expose the evil regime up to now, like we people expected to hear from them, the same fact and reason that Tegadalay Yemane´s scared about could be, as well the fear not to put in danger their rest family members and relatives life residing in Eritrea could be also, if in their perspective i positively could judge and have understanding about their fear.
In my view the fear that PFDJ injected upon All Tegadelties brain , i do not think within short time or years will leave them easily. In this regard specially Ali Abdu´s case could be more understandable. but as many of suspecting Mesfin Hago´s unwillingness to expose the regime could be out of the described reason. Because first he is not few years like Ali abdu lived in exile his silence could be because he self involved in countless PFDJ´s crime could be. However, now every Eritreans is understanding the true behaviour and hidden motive of Isyas, above half of his former blind supporters are not with his side. So there is nothing to fear more, Mesfin and Ali Abdu who new Isyas´s countless crime and hidden motive before and after liberation more than Tegadalay Yemane, if they want to get excuse fever and reliability by our justice sicker public, they do not to waste time. This is the right time to expose Isyas crime like Tegadalay Yemane doing. They have to realize they are are not more inside hell Eritrea, but in free democratic country. PFDJ by no means could take risk to jeopardize their life because of their popularity, if in case they try, they know as will be exposed by Western media, easily like in Tegadalay Yemane´s case. So no need to fear. Side and compensate your people. Learn repentance and humility from honourable Wodi Vacaro. Atleast to save your soul from everlasting unrest (perdition) after you die.
