The main criticism against Dr.Bereket is simply that according to “some members of the Executive Committee”, he was not sufficiently supportive of the Eritreans’ civil liberties. Specifically, he argued for the right of the government to hold a citizen in detention without charges for 30 days while they (the Executive Committee members) asked for 24 hrs and in the end they compromised on 48 hrs. He also didn’t want to explicitly say that Eritreans had the right to form political parties, his colleagues on the other hand did and that is how the constitution settled on “political organizations” and, finally, he allowed frequent insertion of the codicil “pursuant to law” on matters, including citizenship.
First and foremost, Happy new year to all! Above all, Brother, Amanuel Iyasu, a master of literature is a pride of all genuine Eritreans.
My take in your comments though would have another twist and tweak.
1. As opposition, our struggle remains limited to sensitizing our resignation. that is not to discount its impact in our people. Amanuel has done its part single handily. That is a historical phenomenon that should be kept in our history. Again, I am not belittling others contribution.
2. Dictator Isyas had always being the same one for decades and never changed his goal. As people we misread his intention.
3. I would rather say, as people we are not only muted but also terrorized to biblical proportion by his agenda. I would rather say as people we are dead, not Isyas, although close to it.
I think I was afraid this might happen…..all power is now on to “drafted” and so called “being drafted” constitution. The later being a joke and worthless to say the least – after the president implied that a new one is being drafted (perhaps by marshans) the whole Eritrean mass in the cyber had a field day…..Wasted time and wasted energy. Result is distraction from what we all need to focus.
The next fault line came – assenna’s survey regarding the constitution – It shows what I think was wrong with the constitution to begin with -but still the old draft has some traction – but survey on cyber and with specially Eritreans….that is a no no….i.e. you will never get a scientific result not even a guessing result. If people are not honest inherently then no measure is real and scientific. I do not fault assenna on the survey but sometimes we get trapped by an evil man/system and get diverted from the real thing/issue to the less important issue at the moment. I pleaded not to give it time but Dr. Berekt had to be interviewed for it…..
Conclusion – we react to things and most importantly aggressively react when the worthless man in asmara sneezes…. Let him say all that he has to say – people have heard him of course and perhaps gotten sick of his comments. There are times and events that you simply ignore and keep pressing – that will burn him and his-likes to death.
Peace to all and focus to the days to come where all will enjoy Eritrea in fair, justice, and freedom filled streets. Assenna- focus harder. You are leading and set you 2015 goals even higher. Best wishes and success to you.

Usually, you have the habit of posting short and sarcastic comments, mainly to defend DIA and to undermine the Eritrean fight for legitimate gov and rule of law. Now, you are asking question and I think that is good for you.
I see that the one question I asked you out of many is bothering you greatly. It is classic how DIA defenders and PFDJ fanatics are single-minded and self-centered. You are no different. Feel free, to answer the one question that is bothering you how ever you like. Keep in mind, where did you come from means, how did you get to be the way you are? How did you get to be this self-centered and support a system that is sabotaging a nation and its people? How did you get to believe there is a gov in Eritrea who works for the people and with the people? Hidat, don’t runaway from these questions. I really want to know your side of the story. I know, you are not stupid. Now, Is asking for legitimate govt and rule of law for our people and nation wrong? If any given govt is working for the people, there is no way that govt will deny its people RULE OF LAW.
The Eritrean people deserve a constitution that they believe in. NOT a Dictator’s a sham or so called constitution.
Hidat, Do you know North Korea has a constitution. But only works for the ruling party and above all, works for the cult family of Kim II-sung. The North Korean party is called “Workers’ Party of Korea” However, this party has noting to do with the Korean people or workers. If it was the Korea’s peoples’ party or Koreans workers party, it wouldn’t allow to have a 27 years old, inexperienced young man as their “Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army” and gives him absolute control over the govt and the country. But they did. Because the constitution and the workers’ party have noting to do with the Koran people.
Therefor, DIA can’t be given the right or the time of a day to be near the drafting of any constitution in our country. He stayed in power with pure manipulation for more than 23 years. DIA has been given all the opportunity to do right by the Eritrean people. He failed, not only himself, but the Eritrean people. However, he never fail to entertain the world with his yearly interview about the state of his dictatorship over our nation. DIA said, he has learned so much since 1997 or since shelving of the 1997 Eritrean constitution. For any Eritrean capable of thinking independently, will know how much we have lost since 1997. Be it, in human lives, resources, repetition and future. DIA has succeeded in destroying our country’s social fabric, like no other oppressor. The Eritrean people suffered under many oppressors, but DIA takes the cake, because he was allowed to divide and conquer from the basic family unit. That is why we the Eritrean people are suffering greatly at this time. We allowed DIA to plant a cancer cells inside our families. We have all the experience right in front of us. We don’t need DIA to tell us what is going on. Now, What we need is wisdom. Wisdom and more wisdom…..
We always have something to get embarassed about everytime Isayas comes on the TV. This is because we fail to learn from the past. We should know by now that he never comes up to wish us a happy new year but rather to spoil the year right from its beginning. Only fools expect something positive and constructive to come out of his mouth.
We have spent more than 15 years speaking about the declaration of the ratified constitution which he now declared it null and void as a new year’s gift to the Eritrean people and it shouldn’t surprise us anymore if his so called new constition takes another 30 years to be ratified as once announced in his Algesiera interview where he stated that it will take more than 40 years for Eritrea to have a contitutional government. Past experience can help us prophesise that the 1st couple of years will pass analysing what he promised in May 2014 and what he really meant to say. That usual game of words !
Another couple of years will pass redefining the word ‘constitution’ as it is not yet clear what he understands under it. And if things do not seem to work for him, he might either provoke a neighbour to a fight or simply come on the TV to tell us that he has learned a new lesson and it’s not yet the right time for ‘party hashewye’.
That same old vicious circle !
While we are still arguing and fighting with one another on trivial issues like religion and tribe, Mr president for life knows quite well that nothing will stop him from getting away with anything he wishes to do at anyone time. We still don’t know if we are to blame him or our own selves. We simply keep barking up the wrong tree. Worst of all are the diaspora blind supporters who permanently fail to realize that the constitution is a rightfull property of the people and not of a single person. They are so much fixed on opposing the opposition group even at the cost of their legitimate right as Eritreans.

Compliments and many thanks for ur high-caliber journalism.
The despot is completely naked! He has thrown the last straw and proven in no ambiguous way to every Eritrean and to the world at large what he has always been and is: a swindler par excellence!!
How much misery, how extensive a humiliation should our nation endure until the swindler Isaias is made to disappear from the scene? Folks, it’s high noon to get rid of the swindler and his criminal grouping!!
