You diď good job,we would like to hear and learn more from Dr.Bereket he is icon of Eritrea he has contributed a lot and he can contribute more please try to get him back again he is a library for us.he is one of our Idols.
Am listening this while on my final exam , inspired me more on my study, how blessed he was to finish 4 years course in two years. Hope the new young generation to learn that they can make a difference by being persistent and hard working. Thank Assenna and Dr Bereket.
I second to the thought . He was gifted student with high IQ to
graduate in two years at that competitive high school . He was over qualified to serve either in Ethiopia or Eritrea .
I think he might found opportunity to advance his talent if he stayed
in his job with world bank . That is one of the reason many African
intellectuals face hardships and harassment from governments officials that forced them leave for foreign countries .
I know you are going to delete my comment but want to tell you how sorry I am that my poor people supporting you without knowing how undemocratic you are. Gud save us that none of you coming to power.ካብ ዘይትፈልጦ መልአኽ ትፈልጦ ሰይጣን።
Free speech must respect the street law not to cross the line . I
read your deleted comment and you try to disrespect Dr. Berekhet
with personal attacks .
Assenna has full right to defend the integrity of their guests .
You also have a right to oppose or criticize with polite manner
rather unnecessary words of hatred .
I listened to your interview and gained some insight. I hope Ammanuel asks you:
(1)Why you returned to Ethiopia in 1974? Some people suggest blind ambition as a motive.
Is there any truth to that?
(2) In 1974, the Eritrean armed struggle was well known. Why did you make the choice to go to Ethiopia rather than work with the liberation fronts? What was your view of the liberation fronts at that time?
(3) As a man of the law, did you raise any concerns about human rights issues with Isaias, when you were still in cordial terms with him?
(4) How did you originally make the choice to work with the EPLF rather than the ELF? My information is- it was the ELF who helped you escape from the clutches of the Derg? Is that true?
I really think we can benefit from some non flattering and honest conversation. The younger generation can benefit from honest history. I remember a time when even asking a very mild question about Isaias was enough to cause one to suffer in Eritrean communities abroad. Inside the country, it was unthinkable. Is it really any wonder that Isaias became the monster that he became? I believe we helped him become one.
A question that II couldn’t find an answer is how come our educated
patriots missed to identify Issayas’s wicked political agenda from realities on the ground in Gedli era and after independence .
I hope Amanuel raise the question to understand the reasons behind
our weakness according Dr. Berekhet observation based in his eye
witness account . Because he is experienced person to survive three
regimes “Haile Selassie,Menghestu Hailemariam and Issayas Afewerki”.
I express appreciation for your interview of Dr. Bereket Mengstab. I admire Dr. Bereket because he is honest, despite his short coming as a person. He could be a shining beacon for young Eritrean youth and future politician (Like you I might add) the way to move forward.
Two things I would like to ask D. Bereket are:
(a) Did he have concern that Esayas(HIGDEF) endorsing the Eritrea constitution at the time?
(b) What was the reason for selecting a presidential system instead of parliamentary system in the draft constitution, as we see “the presidential system” does get abused by dictators all over africa. Which system is more suitable for Eritrea moving forward. As I may recall, the Eritrean Federation was based on parliamentary system and it worked well during its tenure.
Dr Bereket Mengistab??!! I understand this is a case of an honest mistake of swamping names. But I also think it is a gross mixing of two Eritrean personalities who are at the most opposite spectrum of life in every sense. Lmao!
