Berhe,
in your comment: “Berhe Domenico on October 16, 2014 at 11:55 pm said:” you stated it eloquently.
However, it is not just the postcolonial era that “Lib. movements” or “democratic or communist” states that killed their own citizens, fighters, or POWs or cross border killings, rapes, and what not … but rather it is those who are so ambitious and have the Devil’s ambition to control, dominate other human fellows THINK AHEAD of the 99% citizens.
These absolute evil human creatures [“the likes of Isaias, Hitler, Stalin, the Ethiopians (the Mengistus, the Emperor, the Meneliks, the Grazmatches, the dej, the kegnatzm…) Idi Aman, Pinochet, who not and what not] all believe in onething and one thing: POWER at any cost!
And to get that POWER any parameter is stuck into the equation. That equation is politics (poll & tricks). The parameters for it are everything: deliberate lie, killings, secrecy, con, pretension, everything that we all know but fail to work together to negate.
How come these few control us, kill us while we the majority citizens know all the tricks that they play. The very top & key
thing:
a)THEY, unlike us, those few power thirsty are so PROACTIVE & Highly organized, highly networked, who work day & night to create Institutions. The institutions they create, they know will control us, whip us, kill us.
–Who hatch & create these institutions? They, the few, very few – that includes the best minds.
–who execute these institutions’ orders? us all! (the ordinary citizens, and their foot soldiers along with us)
b) We, unlike them, the citizens do NOT work together to create institutions that protect us.
We in fact do not give ourselves space & time to look into the crimes from the logical, practical, rwalistic angle so we get out of it. remember we have the best minds as them. But, but, we, unlike them, do NOT believe in creating institutions because our ego, I know it all attitude blind us so bad. And they benefit from these. No humans challenge their beater without a solid institution.
One can’t challenging a cruel Institution that kills with a fist or just a few voice. It needs a powerful, organized Institution that has set its eyes at the prize. nothing else but the prize.
Ethiopia’s “God-elected” Emperor downed b/c soldiers (organized by their conscience unit leaders the like os Mengistu, General Atnafu Abate,…) and the youth movement EPRP … so on… in the end the unthinkable happened.. the emperor system, institution that institutional destitutted Ethiopians in the mind & pocket & dignity uprooted. And what followed, Derg, mAgain in the name of Ethiopia, killed its thron challengers; EPRP, meison, what not.
–And Who was derg? Ethiopia’s citizens whose leaders that created it as institution and forced citizens to join by visible and the invisible force of FEAR & intimidation, killings.
–And who was EPRP? Ethiopia’s citizens whose leaders that were so zealous of the throne as well. whose leaders created it as institution and forced citizens to join by visible and the invisible force of FEAR & intimidation, kiilings if they refuse.
In the end the powerful institution that work together to survive become victorious & Derg swallowed all b/c Mengistu shrewedly as isaias, defeated his key opponents. In the end, mengistu was defeated by another powerful, determined Institution: TPLF. (Eritreans love to brag TPLF wouldn’t without EPLF. But one has to admire TPLF dynamism when you look at EPLF and now PFDJ. what a comparison!” … by leap & bounds TPLF, to its people, is a saint comparing to EPLF & PFDJ)
How come all these educated Eritreans fail themselves & their citizens in failing to create an Institutions?
in particular those who have absolutely had the upperhand to see things at the onset of 1991. That says something about Eritreans be it the educated or the layman. Just forget 1991 and how about 2001 onwards. 13 years is a long time.
Facts on the ground say it all! It is not b/c eritreans are not that smart people who don’t understand things but it is just you do not work together. high emotions, ego, quickie judgemental, blackmailing, fingerpointing is far bigger than working together that create institutions that save your ass & your country. your excuses make us shake our heads: when challenged and if your friendly, your answeres are: “Eritrea’s politics is complex” no wonder Isaiss succeeded!
Only Institutions (good ones) will cleanse the mess after Isaiss is gone otherwise those scavenegers (the like of manjus,…) who care less about eritrea & its people will again succeed him and ensure the continuity of his diluted mess.
Think ahead with the form of Institutions if you care! Look at your citizens (geneneration of Derg & 1991 onwards) and they the majority cannot even read/write one good paragraph of either Tigringa. could that be harsh to say Derg & PFDJ made eritreans to be semi-literate! How many percentage of Eritreans that you know of (abroad) succeeded with higher education, intellect that can understand what Institutions (good ones) do? without them you are toasted in every aspect!
In the last 2 decades alone, ethiopia has made a stride in creating higher Institutions that we the derg generation didn’t have. And countless of its last 20 years generation benefited. And Eritrea?
The cruelty of eritreans who even migrated at the age of 15 argued that Mai nefHi is opened and Asmara U. is still in use. These PFDJ benefactors or whose siblings, relatives are PFDJ high echelon are arguing (knowingly) that all is Rosy in eritrea’s “progression in their eyes. And its regression, in their eyes & deliberate excuses it is a new country that needs half a century to even not able to maintain & function one Historic Univrsity. How cruel can Eritreans be?
And when their relatives are swallowed by PFDJ then they come back and become Opponents unashemedly!!! WOW – just wow!
it is just we are having difficult time cracking our eritreans’ mindset.
I’ve read your posting twice. In almost 20 paragraphs, you made no sense to me. Here is why:
1. Yemane’s interview was mostly focused on killings and assassinations. Why did you end up comparing Eritrean and Ethiopian higher education?
2. Your point was simply one: we need to get organized and have institutions to fight dictators. I agree. You don’t need 20 paragraphs and invoke the entire Ethiopian history to make that point.
3. In more than one paragraph, you speak in the third person about Eritreans. I find it curious that you do – it comes across condescending and you may as well be non-Eritrean (which is fine).
4. Your comparative analysis of EPLF/TPLF and progress of higher education of Eritrea and Ethiopia is flawed. It has some factual elements but it’s not the entire story. Little knowledge is indeed dangerous. And yes, things Eritrean are complex.
5. If you elect to write almost 20 paragraphs, please check your typos and writing before you post. It’s simply a sign of respect to your readers.
Now, what’s your opinion about the essence of Yemane’s interview?
You are an opportunist. You knowingly served the con artist like a slave when he was reigning supreme and could lavish you with all the things your heart desired, promotions, prestige etc., and now because his real identity and motive has been exposed and his end is coming by leaps and bounds, you jumped off his bandwagon into another with a greener meadow.
What struck me the most was when you said, you deserted the EPLF because it was not worth dying for. I am astonished with the depth of your ignorance. You did not join EPLF, you moron, to die for EPLF but for the liberation of Eritrea and its people. EPLF is a means and not an end(goal).
As a former collage guy and veteran within EPLF, you ought to have discovered for yourself that revolution is not a bed of roses but a two edged sword that cuts down reactionaries within and the enemy without.
And when you figured out that the con artist isaias afeweerqi was behaving in a manner unbecoming of a genuine revolutionary, you ought to have taken the corrective measure then and there instead of looking for others to do the job. And remember, you had a lot of opportunities in Somalia to do away with him and spare the people of Eritrea from the agony they are now going through.
To tell you the truth, I do not like to hear any thing from a deserter and cry baby like yourself. Bygones are bygones, they cannot be retrieved back. But unlike you cry baby and deserter, the Mighty EPLFs, despite the numerous obstacles the con artist was laying down on their way to bring their revolution to dead end, with dignity, tenacity, bravery, they achieved their object, not only that but also they liberated Ethiopia as well. No One Can Tarnish The Mighty EPLFs!!!!!
Dawit Meconen,
Do you have to be “Muhur donkoro” all the time? The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance…..BUT it is the illusion of knowledge. Please just spare us from your normal recycled garbage, you are just being a hypocritical and a show-off fellow. In short, you are NOT a man enough to criticize or question this jigna & kubur haw Mr Yemane T/Gergish. PERIOD. Dearest brother Yemane please just keep exposing the poisonous people and God bless you brother. Thank you to brother Amanuel of Assenna as well, genuine Eritrean people and Mama Eritrea are very proud of you two brothers.

You know that Dawit is the kebessa’s brother of old Ali Salim. I consider him like a soup nazi 🙂
This is how I view it: if Dawit makes a noise about any subject, I consider it that must be a comment that results a maximum damage to HGDF.
Dawit….you can make your points without the use of pejorative words.
The focus here is not Yemane but a great deal of Eritrean history that many of us were not privy to. I’m personally grateful that Yemane is alive and openly sharing with us all.

Great interview and thank you jigna brother Yemane as well as Assenna’s brother Emma. Poor Eritrean people got victimized and betrayed by the jungle lords so called ELF or EPLF “liberators”.
