If anything has captured your otherwise captivating interview, it is what you just underlined in this particular interview when you said, “If a more organized and more structured guerilla warfare had started in Tigrai earlier than in Eritrea, Isaias would have gone there instead for his sole aim has always been unhinged and unbridled satiety for power.” I concur! Having said that however, I disagree with you when you branded the people who are raising a more relevant question about the merits and imperatives of Ghedli as a whole as none-Eritreans when their indignation stems out from the end result of Ghedli where it is the breakdown of the nation and the social fabric as well. One of the talking point or should I say strong argument about the said people is that, Eritrea’s protracted struggle for liberation was not only based on a “fallacy” of historical justification, it was also based on a propaganda machinery which fed on the people an intense animosity towards anything Ethiopian. As it turned out however, the historical justification as a launching pad not only loses its credibility, the previous regimes of Ethiopia had been benign in comparison with Eritrea under the cruel hand of the tyrant in present day Eritrea. The said argument however is not an intention to reverse the course of history and bring Eritrea back into the folds of Ethiopia-proper so to speak rather to assess the past with a candor so that as the much more exhausted and over used saying has it, we won’t be condemned to repeat history. uncounted civilian casualties under occupation are

And to the question of relationship between army forces

The fact that EPLF failed to transform itself into a functioning democratic government is basically because it had never been a functioning institution to begin with. All the blames and accusations everyone is putting on Isaias Afewerki is not because we suddenly know who Isaias was, but his comrades tolerated his growing dictatorial leadership. They gave him a blank check and allow him to do what he did. This continued to this date and the current generation is paying the price. Shouldn’t the blame also go to all the tegadelti who let this happen on their watch. They joined the armed struggle to free their people and they ended up not being free themselves. Can you comment on the failure of the hafash tegdalay’s failure to live up to its expectation, then and now?

First of all very glad that you not only survived the hardship of the Ghedli but the assassination attempts on your life by the EPLF leadership, but also for your courage and commitment to speak out the truth as you have witnessed it, at the appropriate time. You have had the wisdom to have been able to analyse at an earlier stage that things were not going right and took the risk to leave the organization. I have known you several years back and your account is one of the few most authentic reports that I have heard, so far. I hope other senior Party and the organization’s cadres will follow suit.
