The plight of Eritreans continues at home and outside unabated. Eritreans have become so passive that no one has raised a voice to support our compatriots. There are many heavy weight intellectuals like doctors, professors, UN directors, party leaders, ex Ambassadors who could have joined hands and made a concerted effort to resolve the issue. They could at least have presented the issue to EU, UN, AU etc. But it seems Eritreans have either become hopeless, passive or opportunistic. Therefore, it remains now to GOD the almighty. I n this case I don’t blame the Italians govt only, but the EU as well! They must be able to solve the cause of the refugee problem. This means they should force the autocratic and dictatorial regimes at home to safeguard the people’s rights by establishing democracy and be accountable. If they don’t do this Europe will definitely be flooded by refugees. In fact Europeans except Sweden, Finland and Norway are harvesting what they saw a hundred years back. During the scramble of Africa, they partitioned the continent, exploited its mineral resources, enslaved its people, and killed millions of people in wars and in the triangular slave trade. So, the flooding of refugees now is a child’s play in comparison with what they did to Africa and Asia. Africans and Asians are only coming for safety and to sell their labor. Period! If the EU doesn’t want this, let it force the brutal regimes introduce accountable governments. May GOD save our brethren.
