By Petros Tesfagiorgis

In the Amhara owned social media there is an awful hate campaign against the TPLF and the People of Tigray such as: ኣስደሳች ዜና፡  ወያነ ዳግም ሞተች : Pleasant news TPLF died for the second time. It is simply a death wish. It is sawing the seeds of violence gripping Ethiopia every day. The hate-campaign has impacted these tragic violence in Ethiopia.

The campaign is of epidemic proportion and the standard of decency is shamefully low. It is provocative, threatening and may lead to armed clashes, God forbid. As usual the victims of conflict are the ordinary Ethiopian citizens not the campaigners because most of them do so from their comfort zone in the West. They and their family can’t be displaced, murdered or maimed as is happening in many areas of Ethiopia today particularly in the South. We Eritreans are very clear that peace with Ethiopia means   with all nations and nationalities in Ethiopia and not to be used as a weapon to undermine the people of Tigray.

However it is Abiy who allowed Isaias to interfere in the internal affairs of Ethiopia in order to appease the extremists Amhara. As a result of side-lining the people in the peace process and interfering in the internal affairs of Ethiopia, the resentment of the people of Eritrea against Isaias is growing fast. The attempted murder of General Sebhat Ephrem should have been a lesson to Ethiopians of what is brewing in Eritrea. PM Abiy has shown no interest in the people of Eritrea. The least he may have done is to show some concern to Eritrean refugees trapped in Libya and plead the UNHCR to take them to  a third country or join in the refugee camps in Ethiopia. They are starved, tortured and subjected to other forms of violations.   See Photo of Eritrean refugees in Khom, Libya.

The only consolation for Eritreans is that on the border there was great happiness as Eritreans and Ethiopians greet each other, tears flowing down their cheeks.  It is a sign of genuine people to people solidarity.  It is peace building move of a kind that shined during the armed struggle. After all it was the military cooperation of TPLF and EPLF that defeated the Soviet armed and trained army of the fascist military junta led by Colonel Mengustu Hailemariam.  Of course the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) has also contributed a lot to the defeat of the Junta (Dergue). OLF together with EPLF had a lightening attack that destroys military garrisons of the Dergue in the South.

The Tigreans were clear of the right of Eritreans for self-determination and supported the independence of Eritrea like the rest of the world while the Amhara wavered. Even to this day, while the peace process is unleashed many Ethiopian writers keep writing undermining the Eritrean struggle.  Few Eritreans that support Isaias  have failed to see the big picture and are siding with Isaias against Tigray.

By Activist Julia Tranchina- human rights lawyer in London:

The Tigray politicians, intellectuals and the youth are taking the threat seriously and are organizing conferences and debates nationwide to analyse and understand the whole motive behind the hate campaign and the extraordinary witch hunt.

They organised demonstrations in many cities.   The demonstrations were the biggest expression of a popular culture of defiance and reflects the combative mood of the entire Tigray nation when they find themselves under attack. It was also a show of unity and confidence.

During the demonstration, The Tigray regional State Vice President Dr Debretzion Gebremikael   gave a talk with calm and restraint. He appealed for the rule of law, which is in short supply, and criticized the Abiy Government for failing to protect the victims of Ethnic conflict and called for active involvement to end it. The hate-mongers does not accept this constructive criticism because it came from Dr Debretzion. The hatred of Tigray blinded the hate-mongers that Debretzion is reformist who is putting the welfare of the people of Tigray centre stage. Interestingly he expressed his priority to combat the main enemy, poverty. This has reminded me of a big Poster at Meskel Square Addis Ababa during Eritrean Diaspora civil society meetings in 2011. The posters had pictures of Late PM Melles Zenawi with children – It said “we will inherit our young development and not hunger”. I stood mesmerized and murmured “Cry my beloved Eritrea” Eritrea that won the war for independence but lost the peace when Isaias started the war with Ethiopia and further declared war on the people of Eritrea, subjecting them to extreme repression. It gave rise to the influx of huge number of refugees to exile.

The disease- of hate has deeper roots in the body politics of Ethiopia. It is an attack against the federal system that ended the supremacy of the repressive Amhara feudal system and gave the ex-oppressed nationalities self-rule, dignity and identity. The ex-oppressed nationalities have achieved visible and effective political representation and they would not let this supremacists abort the federal system in order them to rule    from the centre “Addis Ababa, the seat of Menlik from where he build a strong feudal Empire by invading the Oromos.  They know they can’t reclaim their supremacy they don’t have the power.    But they took as a holy mission to take revenge on TPLF.

The hate promoters are so insincere and vicious they never mention that Ethiopia is transformed from years of poverty stricken country into a country who scored the highest economic growth in Africa. Do they remember the 1972 famine which killed 2 million Ethiopians? It heralded the downfall of Emperor Hailesellasie, who tried to hide the famine? Do they remember the 1985 famine when the Band aid singers, led by Sir Bob Geldof, raised millions of dollars – to fed the hungry in Ethiopia? “The title of the Song was “Do they know it is Christmas” The song is sung every X-mass in UK ever since. As I write this article I have listened to it on the radio.  But I can’t help thinking “Do the Eritreans men, women and children trapped in Libya know it is Christmas? No. they don’t know. They know they are in hell and no Isaias nor Abiy the soul mates  want to know. The campaign by Eritrean in the West is so weak except for few Eritreans and human rights activists who are making a difference. Some Eritreans refugees were lucky, they are being rescued and managed to go to a third country.

Since the reign of EPRDF such terrible famine became history. There were draught but the EPRDF had laid down effective support structure to avert any famine – they distribute food from Ethiopian resources with some international help.

TPLF/EPRDF have connected the whole country for the first time by building an amazing roads and railways. Giving lots of support to rural development and the historical building of the Millennium dam etc.  As a result today Ethiopia is the most respected country in Africa.

The federal system is spearheaded by TPLF dominated EPRDF under the leadership of late PM Meles Zenawi- He was hailed as a leading African Statesman. He was a member of the group together with Embeki the ex-president of South Africa and Tony Blair the then prime minster of United Kingdom – who worked on a projects to make “poverty history in Africa”  After Meles’s  death a number of us, Eritrean human rights activists and from the opposition were invited to attend his commemoration in London. There were a number of prominent British people. Among them was Gordon Brown UK Prime Minster – and Clair Short development secretary both expressed their experience dealing with him. They talked highly of Meles as the most able statesman and competent African leader. But the hate-promoters are morally bankrupt and mediocre not to acknowledge these facts.  There was no leader in Africa that have that kind of high credentials internationally.  Yes Meles was no Saint. He has reputation to be intolerant to the opposition and for the shooting and imprisoning of demonstrators.    His Government had uprooted more than 70,000 Eritreans and Ethiopians of Eritreans origin from Ethiopia to Eritrea   during the senseless Ethio-Eritrean war in 1998. Ethiopia committed gross human rights violations in the process of deportation. Citizens for Peace in Eritrea (CPE) has documented all these violations. It was documented by Professor Asmarom Legesse.

The hate campaigners are not benefitting the people of Ethiopia they are distractive. Ethiopia has many external enemies and they will rejoice to see Ethiopia weak and divided.  As a matter of justice to the people of Ethiopia and as a peace activist I don’t want to see that.  In fact it is in the middle of the war in 1998 that CPE that includes me, Tewolde Estifanos from California, Professor Asmarom Largesse and four others, embarked on lobbying for sustainable peace with Ethiopia and made people to people solidarity at the central of our peace campaign.

CPE held peace building conference in Eritrea.  And then aimed to meet Ethiopian civil societies in a third country.  –Kjetil Tronvoll – a researcher at Norwegian Institute of Human Rights, University of Oslo arranged for me and the professor Asmarom to meet the then head of ERSHO Dr Gatachew Kibret in Norway.  It has become difficult to arrange conferences but agreed to help deported victims in both Ethiopia and Eritrea instead.

The hate-campaigners would do positive contribution to Ethiopia if they live up to the spirit of re- conciliation, love respect advocated by PMAA instead  of sabotaging it.

Merry Christmas: Let peace prevail

 The end:

NB: In his season’s greetings, Kassahun Chekole director of Africa World Press and The Red Sea Press announced that the Eritrean distinguished professor of Anthropology Dr Asmerom Legesse has been honoured with an honour degree from Addis Ababa University: He is the author of Oromo Democracy.  The order was rendered by Ato Lemma Megersa the governor of the Oromo region.

“the Eritrean distinguished professor of Anthropology Dr Asmerom Legesse has been honoured with an honour degree from Addis Ababa University”

    Petros Tesfagiorgis

It’s painful to see an intellectual of his caliber not defending the cause of his own people.

It is embarrassing and depressing to read this. If They are not Eritrean and don’t care about the well being of Eritreans, they need to go away and leave us alone. They need to stop calling themselves Eritreans. This is not the time to be globalist or Africanist. We Eritreans needs our home land secured for our people. Our homeland is being emptied out of its people. Why don’t they write about pushing for rule of law in Eritrea; Releasing prisoners; Holding DIA accountable; Is that so hard? What about writhing about the hate of DIA toward the Eritrean people, over and over again. Please stop writing about other people who are better than you. . woyane don’t need your sympathy. They don’t care about you and they showed all of us who they are and how they feel about us.
      End of story.

      • Petros Tesfagherghis December 26, 2018

        Dear Genet:

.You are denying freedom of (expression) writing when you say, “please stop writing about other people (I assume you mean Ethiopians) who are better than you (Eritreans).. Ethiopians are not better than Eritrean people. The difference Eritreans are subjected to brutal human rights violation that crippled them to develop economically and socially. . You have undervalued yourself and the people of Eritrea.. I can’t believe your are that much mediocre and ignorant. . First you need to liberate your mind from mental oppression before you judge people. Also you write as if I am not a member of just seekers bent on exposing the gross human rights violations in Eritrea. .

          Petros
You just called me ignorant, because I called on you for being reckless with your priority. When you spend your time writing about what woyane have accomplished for Ethiopia and you are irritated about other Ethiopians hate toward woyane, you are going to be challenged. You are in denial, if you think you are in the same league with Woyane leaders. You aren’t. Woyane leaders educated their youth, built colleges and world class Universiitise in Tigray. Did they give you anything? They held up our people hostage for 20 years in support of DIA. They dislike our people more than DIA. They never talk to the Eritrean people directly for the past 20 years. So Petros, don’t get upset because I didn’t like your message of “poor woyane, people hate them” We, Eritrean don’t care. You need to talk to many Eritreans as possible to feel the despair we are feeling. You, writing about “poor woyane other Ethiopians hate them” will exacerbate our pain. I am not going to call you name as you did, but I recommend for you to talk to more Eritreans as possible to learn more about your people than spending your time being woyane sympathizer.
          Good day!

@Petros, I am not if anyone denied to express your opinion. The piece you wrote in this woyane-Friendly is to blame the Amhara, Afar, the Oromo people. The Amhara and other people have every right to their after all they have gone through. Mr. Debretzion is just emulating Isyas by showcasing in his trivial and insignificant tours.

I briefly met Dr :Legesse once. Despite all the acclaims I head about him, I was underwhelmed by his poor grasp of things. Everyone can have a Dr or a Professorship if he/she is prepared to slog it out for years, These grand titles mean nothing if they are not applied in practice. If Dr Legesse is claver enough to see beyond his nose, he would not be a PFDJ cheerleader in the first place. He is an opportunist who will have no place in Eritrean history and for the matter in Ethiopia’s too.

My advice to my fellow Eritreans, including brother Petros, is to stop worrying about what is happening in Ethiopia at least until we solve our own problems. Our people are literally been butchered by a lunatic dictator day in and day out, and hence our aim should be how to change that. As a veteran freedom fighter, I would urge you, Petros, to focus on raising the spirit of the Eritrean Defence Forces so they can take action. They have the right tools and Eritrea can only be liberated from Isaias through the brave action of one of them. That’s what we need, our problems will never be solved by talking. Action, Action and Action is what we need. May 2019 be a year of Action!

    Eritrea forever, death to dictatorship.

    • Kidane December 25, 2018

I agree with you 100%, Asmara.

    • Genet-Original December 26, 2018

      Asmara Eritrea
      I agree 100%.
It is frustrating to see the so called educators/educated in total out of focus. It is embarrassing to read a such writhing that focus on defending Woyane leaders. How can we tell them that WE DON’T CARE ABOUT WOYANE!!! They were in power and now they seem to be out of power. This issue means zero to us. We observed Woyane leaders and its people in action for the past 20 to 27 years. To most of Eritreans, their situation is none of our business. End of story.

    • Petros Tesfagherghis December 26, 2018

      Asmara Dear
You said “My advice to my fellow Eritreans, including brother Petros, is to stop worrying about Ethiopia. Asmara” I wish it is as easy as you said. I have every reason to worry about Ethiopia.. The people of Eritrea are allergic to wars and conflict.. The 1998 senseless war with Ethiopia has arrested our development and prosperity and destroyed the fabric of the Eritrean society. For Eritreans peace is everything. At first I hailed the peace with Ethiopia. But we see there is an ethnic conflict in Ethiopia.. Issaias is colluding with Amhara extremists to isolate and weaken Tigrai. It means we are involved in the internal conflict in Ethiopia. it is dangerous for Eritrea.- w want peace with Ethiopia not conflict. We have to oppose it, and write about Ethiopia and express our opposition to wars..

To suggest saying, “to focus on raising the spirit of the Eritrean Defense Forces so they can take action.” is a priority, you are absolutely right. . It is the way forward, I assure you me and my fellow justice seekers in UK are trying hard to form an umbrella committee or a group to represent all justice seekers in UK.. The fragmentation is so awful it has crippled.the justice seekers advancement and it is now easy.. There were a number of vigil outside the European Office in London- in the Foreign Office and Libyan Embassy, Ethiopian embassy, UNHCR to rescue Eritrean refugees trapped in Libya. It is disheartening to see only few Eritreans attend and it is causeless of the fragmentation..

    • Agebblu December 26, 2018

@Asmara Eritrea: I agree with everything you raised and it is so difficult to figure out why people like Petros are blaming the Amhara and other non-Tigrean people I guess Petros and orher Tigray-Friendly opportunist are caught in surprise . In a long the change that is taking place in Ethiopia will affect us positively. I just want confirm my solidarity with Afar (congratulation for the leadership) with Amhara people.

    What the hell!!!
Too bad we can’t say Our beloved people and country are having a marry Christmas. The worst part of this writhing is it shows DIA and the so called intellectual are worried and sad about Ethiopia and its people. When I say Ethiopian people, that very much includes the woyane leaders and its people. By the way, there is no nation called Tigray. Tigray is one of the 13 province of Ethiopia. Tigray is part of Ethiopia and Tigray people are proud Ethiopians. They have been in power for the past 27 years. The writer seems to need a remainder about how the woyane leadership in collaboration with DIA committed systemic genocide against the Eritrean people. Why don’t you use your brain to save your people and country from extinction, rather than advocating for Woyane’s well being. You are out of touch and you have no idea how we Eritreans people feel at this time. We hold Woyane equally responsible for the destruction of the Eritrean families for the past 20 years.

Please Assenna think, before you post a compounded piece of writhing such this. It is so obvious that its main message is to advocate for woyane leaders. We don’t have time for this.

    • k.tewolde December 26, 2018

Dear G.O. your point is crystal clear and your argument valid.Apparently the writer either doesn’t have a sense of urgency or possess the luxury of time and space to venture into telling the story which has nothing to do with easing our pain, sometimes it makes you wonder…as the saying goes,”NATA GEDIFAS NAY HAMATA”, who gives a flying rat about woyane and their money laundering reeling enterprise while our people are eating dirt and living in a terrestrial inferno under the diabolical rule of their cousin.Yep,it is easy to click away anything in the keyboard after unwrapping gifts and taking a couple of shots of eggnog, however as the song goes..”do they know that it is Christmas time in Eritrea..?”

      • Kiki Tzeggai December 28, 2018

This post has a better introduction than it seems at first reading. It guides towards an enhanced outline of what is expecting us. That is agree to disagree and work together for a better Eritrea.
No matter how many times I read it, part of me was a happy reader and part of me joins the readers such as K. Tewolde, Genet Original,Simon G. and more. I wonder where my friend Petros’s priorities are. I also want to say, “Who cares about Tigray/Ethiopia? Should we – for the same matter – ignore our country’s problems and divert our focus towards Indonesia being destroyed by a tsunami first and a volcano following? Or by events developing in Sudan?” For, Ethiopia too is a foreign country with own ruling government and nothing to do with our own country – Eritrea – in need of OUR immediate help.
However, “who cares” is not a rule of life among Eritreans. We feel for people in pain, but how could we help if we are not helping our own people and each other? The day will come – once we fix our country and hold hands with one another- that we might have the time and the financial luxury to help others. For now, Tigray/Ethiopia is just that! Others!!
Our problems might seem similar, but we have nothing in common. A thesis about neighboring countries’ problems is the worst we can possibly start with. The rising global problems in the Horn of Africa cannot produce a “global” peace of one-size fits all. We – Eritreans – have internal problems and lack of unity that outline the statement of failure! Petros dear brother of mine, please, let me advise you to use this structure and guide us towards our own land in need of restructuring it.
        – We face the questions together.
        – We agree on the thesis statement
        – We outline the needed united front to face those destroying Eritrea (neighbors to the south are front line, and please, let them take care of their own. Eritrean fighters drove tanks into Addis Abeba to show them the way and that is enough)
        – We get higher marks from our people in need of our help, rather than neighbors’
I thank you for all you did and still do for Eritrea. You gave it your life.

To those who use pen names :to hide their identities: : Genet, Agebblu, – etc
Here are some tip’s to reflect on and improve your level of consciousness – to understand the complex situation of Eritrea/Ethiopia
    1. Out of 27000 Eritreans who crossed to Tigray when the border was opened 24,000 applied for
refugees in Endabaguna (Tigray): Tigray. That itself is an important factor for the safety of Eritrean
    refugees in Ethiopia.. . .
    2. The passionate rendezvous – the embrace – the expression of happiness and hope when Eritreans
and Ethiopians meet in Zalambasa rendered them to become peace bridges., harbinger of
genuine peace at a time when Isaias side-line the people in the peace process… That may
embarrass Isaias and may be the reason why the border is closed

3.. The fascist military junta – who burned many villages in Eritrea – bombed civilians from the air was
defeated by the military cooperation of EPLF and TPLF::.that brought the freedom of Eritrea…
4..During the referendum in 1993, where 99% of the people of Eritrea voted for independent – it was
PM Meles who supported the independence.. The Amhara ruling class never accepted the
independence of Eritrea. : Even today as the process of peace is taking place. Many writers
undermine the history of our armed struggle.. That is why Ethiopia don’t want to demarcate the
boundary.today. .. for many of them Eritrea is coming back to its mother Ethiopia. As far as we are
concerned we are sovereign country and the border must bee demarcated.
5.. People make peace with those who fights against.. We fought against Ethiopia so make peace with
them. and not be select with one part of Ethiopia and perpetuate hostility with the other…
6.. Don’t forget you can even go to war with your brother. e.g Civil war War between EPLF and ELF.
Today members of ELF and EPLF are at peace working together for the common good..
    7. Understand where your interest and your survival lies. There is no permanent enemy or friends . win
friends than. .perpetuate enemies.: Share the pains and sufferings of the people of Eritrea and be
responsible for your actions and do contribute to peace than campaign for hatred.
    8. The people of Eritrea have suffered to much for too long. . . . Eritreans are allergic to war, we
want to win peace with those we fought in the past. . Yemen, Djibouti, Sudan.. and Ethiopia.
    . .

    • Genet-Original December 26, 2018

      Petros
I think you are too sensitive to criticism and you are missing the whole point. Yet, you are complaining about Eritreans in diaspora not participating. You need to do some reflection about your ideas. Don’t you think that everybody has a right how to present her/him self on online discussion? It is your choice to splash your smirking mag to the whole world to see. LOL. I don’t think anybody mind that. But don’t expect to get credit. What matter is the message. I still think your priority is way off. No body said you shouldn’t have a voice. The fact of the matter is your voice should be used to advocate for your people first. As far as Eritreans concern TPLF/woyane’s leaders have no credibility. Mark my words, anyone who advocate to side with woyane at this time will have no credibility. Petros, young Eritreans were told by woyane leaders in Tigray, “shabya was biting you with sticks, we, woyane will melt you like HIV aids” That was when our young people run for their lives in to the hands of human traffickers and in to the open sea.

One question for you is how come you didn’t become a strong Eritrean opposition to DIA in Ethiopia, when woyane leaders were in total control of Ethiopia? If Woyane’s leaders were useful for the Eritrean people, They could have looked good in the eyes of Eritrean people. If only presented to Abiy and DIA a challenge by confirming a strong Eritrean oppositions to counter the many Ethiopian oppositions group DIA had cultivated for the past 20 years.

The argument of Eritrean Opposition are too fragmented is not going to cut it. Because DIA had many seating ducks Ethiopian oppositions and still managed to present them to his advantage. So many questions. Please, don’t try to shot your critics up by being passive aggressive. It is not a sign of wisdom. I hope, you consider my points instead of indulging in tit for tat with assenna commentators.
      Have a good new year.!

        Geneta,
As I perfectly know that I am an outlier, allow me to say this.
        1. In this case, I think you have misunderstanding. Petros T. is not stating anything negative to Eritreans but preaching peace because (I blieve) he doesn’t want see another Rwandan genocide (if not worse) to our neigbours.
        2. Dr. Abiy is preaching peace but isolating the the Tigray people. This is not really about love
        3. There are close to 300K Eritreans live in Ethiopia, >90% of them in Tigray
        4. You could have simply say you disagree with his article (like step 5)and that would have weighed better.
        5. I disagree with brother Petron on Asmerom Legesse because this man strongly supporting DIA and that outweighs whatever good thing he did before. It shows no ethics to me, but brother Petros is with his people and against DIA
        6. I am not sure how old you are and your prior contribution is to Eritrea but in my case, I wish I have contributed 10% of what brother Petros contributed and still contributing.
        7. Oh yes, I have disagreed with brother Petros’s article (few sections), few years ago
        8. We all know both of your hearts are with the Eritrean people.

        • Genet Original December 27, 2018

You know I love you brother. You are one of those Eritreans who is not afraid to say, You know what, I was wrong or who takes the time to explain what you mean. That is called confidence. You make assenna great! But I am going to disagree with you on this one. I stand my ground.

I disagree with the idea of Tigray people being in danger of genocide. Are they going to be out of power,? Yes. Are they going to be held accountable for crime? Yes. Are they going to lose some of the land they incorporated in to Tigray? Yes. Still all these thing don’t amount to what we are going to lose. We are losing our people, identity and country. I don’t understand this notion of Sky is falling and extra attention to Tigray. For the past 27 years Tigray has been building their area and living their lives. You know what has been happening to us. I never heard Woyane leaders officially addressing the Eritrean peoples situation for the past 20 years. We even had an Eritrean mother giving birth to a premature baby, while she is drawing in the deep sea. No body said anything. In fact our nightmare was routinely ridiculous by the woyane mouthpiece websites like Tigraionline as a “fake country and people”

I understand and respect for any contribution to our people by any Eritreans. But that doesn’t give anyone the licence to behave badly. If anyone wants to write about woyane’s concern, It is better to take it to appropriate sites like Tigraionline.
          It is only fair.

            Geneta,
I am glad you disagree with me on this and that’s how we should disagree.
I have many things to ADD to your list, and one of the big ones is that they cooperate with EPLF to destroy ELF. To some people this may seem a minor but to me and many others this is huge.
Actually, one of their generals is now saying Ethiopia should have a Navy. Not sure why a landlocked country should have a navy but you can imagine what his intention is.
My disagreement with your comment to our brother Petros was I interpreted it that your questioning on his intention and I was trying to clarify that he has done great things before and he is still doing that, including his sister.

Mr. Petros may be of the idea that supporting Tigray is very important for Eritrea.
But what about Weyane’s attitudes toward Eritreans ?
They have started showing some interest in peace, only after they lost power in Addis, and Tigreyans left Amhara and Oromo regions after being exposed to ethnic cleansing.
It’s true that Eritrean refugees are living in Tigray, they should be appreciated for that. Although, the fact that many Tigreyans used resettlement opportunities given to Eritreans is not a secret anymore.
What is happening in Ethiopia is their exclusive business. Our priority is removing dictatorship and peace with Ethiopia. How Ethiopians are conducting their business is not of much concern to us, because their internal matters, are off limit.
Why Mr. Petros fails to see that a lot of Tigrayans are now openly speaking, in presence of Weyane leaders, about creating Greater Tigray at the expense of Eritrea ?
The Saho and Jeberti, whose ethnic cleaning is on the agenda of so-called Agazian, would like to know why Wenaye leaders allow this fascist gruop to operate openly in Tigray ? . Why people like you keep silent on these issues ?
Don’t you think this should be of concern to you more than Amhara marginalizing Tigreyans ?

I believe people make peace with their enemies and not with friends. That is the essence of peace. Calling for peace with Ethiopia does not make me forget that the TPLF dominated EPRDF have thrown out more than 70,000 Eritreans from Ethiopia in 1998. I. This is the worst humanitarian rights violations against the people of Eritrea. . .I have some photos of the victims on my visit to their camps in Eritrea – they were destitute and sad. . To expose this.- Me and few friends have come together as a committee (called Citizens for Peace-CPE-) for the purpose . of studying and disseminating information about the Ethio-Eritrean conflict and its human consequences.. It was partly the lack of peace – that is destroying the fabric of Eritrean society.. That is why I believe in genuine peace with all nation and nationalizes in Ethiopia. And not .. Eritrea to be part of isolating Tigray. Such action does not serve the interest of Eritrea.. TPLF is the biggest player in Ethiopia , make no mistake they are still alive and kicking and they are very much organised. .For those who think along the line of Isaias’s ” game over” the demise of Tigray are wrong. There will be no peace in Ethiopia without TPLF. Our peace remains wishful if we involve in the internal Ethnic conflict in Ethiopia..

However, I apologize for being defensive. You all have every right to criticize me. You don’t have to agree with me. We have differences but as long as we work together in bringing justice and democracy in Eritrea, some differences will not hurt anyone. We are comrades. . I will keep on opposing any injustices even outside the issue of Eritrea. I don’t think that will hurt anybody::For your information you may have to know – I am not alone in this issue there are those who share my views. We need peace that puts the welfare of the people of Eritrea center stage… Peace that sidelines the people is the game of power hungry politicians. . …
La Luta Continua: Our struggle for justice and genuine peace will continue. . Love for our people and country is nothing without action.. So get organised at your locality and combat fragmentation….. . .
    . . .

    .. .

” I apologise for being defensive ” thank petros being flexible. However, despite your article is stressing how to stop the hate – campaign no matter with who, hate will never win. This is your solid stand but hard to be heard because wounded is always furious.

      Petros
      You said,
“I apologize for being defensive”. Good for you and thank you for helping opening the discussion further.
I think it is great you advocate for justices for everyone.

You said, “I believe people make peace with their enemies and not with friends” That is true, but something is not clear.
Have We (Eritreans) identified our enemies yet?
DIA is supposedly siding with Abiy/Amhara/ Oromo. Do we have to side with Woyane leaders? if we must, what is the purpose and what is the endgame for us as people and a nation?

You said, “I am not alone in this issue there are those who share my views” Since you have raised so many issues, which part of the issue are you sharing with others? Do you think your statement is a bit divisive?

As you probably know, over centuries, Tigray leaders don’t really have a good track records of the way they treated the Eritrean people. Why are we forgetting that Tigray people are Ethiopians and they need to fix their problems with their brother and sisters.

You pointed out about the deportation of Eritreans from Ethiopia inhumanly by TPLF dominated Etho GOV 20 years ago. Actually, it was the late Ethiopian PM and the chairman of the TPLF, Meles Zenawi who lead that inhumane act of deportation with some colorful statement. So, do you think TPLF leaders have taken any responsibility? Have they expressed remorse, before they have quarantined in Mekelle? If they have, how do you measure that?
What about the TPLF leaders working with the so called “agazian” who is openly calling for the slaughtering of Eritrean Muslim? The leader of this group is freely walking in Mekelle. How do we address this?

I just don’t want Eritreans to be punished twice, As they say, a fool’s child is punished twice.
Heads up, You will be getting some feed back from Woyane operatives to not apologize no matter what to your Eritrean brother and sisters.

One more thing, I believe, The DIA “game over” is not for Woyane, it is for us Eritreans.
I think you can lead the discussion.

Very interesting and a healthy debate.

My suggestion is that we have a much and much greater problem to warry about than what is happening or not happening in Ethiopia. That is the very existence of our own country under someone hell bent to sell it to Ethiopia and to destroy the very fabric of our society. Whilst that is at stake, I frankly wouldn’t give a toss what is happening in Ethiopia. If that makes me a simple minded person, so be it.

    Eritrea forever, death to dictatorship.
