This is a good start by the Secretary. We need to write and submitt written testimonials to the Secretary’s office detailing the horrifying actions of the regime against our people. The more information we provide the more possibilities there are for a practical action by the US against PFDJ. Keep on fighting. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

It was a great day for Eritrea! This year, every Eritrean worth his/her name celebrated May 24, the day Eritrea got its independence from colonial, feudal and backward Ethiopia 23 years ago; that is, wherever they happened to be, be it in mainland Eritrea or in diaspora, be it in civilian Eritrea or in the national service and, oh yes, be it in free Eritrea or in its prisons and concentration camps. On this day, Eritreans of all stripes set aside their differences, if there were any to begin with – given that theirs is a land of hade hizbi, hade libi (one people, one heart) – and Muslim and Christian, highlander and lowlander, peasants and urbanites, Warsai and Yikealo and regime supporters and detractors, all came together in guaylas throughout the land and in diaspora. They danced, ate and drunk to their fill until the wee hours of the morning.
But this grand 23rd Independence Day anniversary, as celebrated in 22 years past, won’t the subject of this article. Rather, the focus will be on the one thing that made this year’s celebration unique among all the others past: the more than 10,000 political prisoners of the nation were allowed to celebrate the week of festivities in the same manner as the rest of Eritrea – with a big festival of their own that included seminars, parades, carnival, sport activities, marches, concert, bands, drama, fashion show, pictorial exhibition, guaylas, food and drinks, etc.

To R.I.P Eritrea: To start with, that is an ill will to Eritreans. Can’t you find a better name or title for yourself. It is an irony and looks you have no hope left in you.
Individuals like you write non-sense to give legitimacy to current regime in Eritrea by crying foul for the promising and positive development work is being done somewhere else. When is a candle a choice of the majority against a light bulb from an electrical source? This kind of behaviour is seen in many instances to make our predicament to look okay and even legitimate. Accepting dire situation is not a virtue instead it is vice. Population of Eritrea is facing every day death and life situations. But, still we make it look alright!
The restriction placed by Norwegian Immigration service prohibiting Eritreans to travel to Sudan and Ethiopia in order to transit to Eritrea tells a story on its own. We opt to take a roundabout ways in order to do illegal travels (prohibition ignored) after claiming asylum. For some telling lies is a normal act with no second thought. Rules and regulation are the foundation of a law abiding society . Actions have consequences too. It is such behaviours which delayed the progress to fight injustice against the current regime. At the same time, yearly May 24 comes we talk of independence celebration. What independence are you talking? Is the guyla which is the given and accepted as a flag? Guyla did not take us anywhere except making us forget the real issues the country faces.
Compromising and doing what suits us against the interest of majority came to look normal. Shame on us as a community of people who make a blind eye to what goes on in today’s Eritrea!!!

Well said Luna! They are hopeless waste of space! They turn their back from their responsibility and behaving like animals. They lost the decency and love to be repressed. Guyla is the only thing that matters and of course the hand out of the west. They dance for the independence day as if the country is free. Their very sisters and brothers are fleeing from the land of hell the very day they call a day of independence.
Thank you Luna for conveying those words of wisdom but don’t expect any sour search from those zombies.
