“i was talking about the religious extremists (both Christian and Islamic) who were jumping at each others throats in some articles posted on Assenna. i noticed some of those two groups were either threatening Assenna or calling it names.”

Assenna is doing a good job by raising the most important issues to the day for most of us. However, it has been very slow in putting an editorial policy in place which goes with it. For instance, when they allow someone who says he is fighting radicalism, to post his articles, then obviously such articles invite people to express their views about it. If they want help people to focus on the main issues at hand by general public (fighting tyranny, refugees, national unity ..etc), all those side issues on which people are most likely to lose precious time should be stopped right from start with proper editorial policy.

we all know Assenna is run by volunteers. we also know it depends on Eritreans’ contribution. i say it is easier to criticize those who are making tremendous effort to give the voiceless Eritreans a voice than to actually contribute in that regard. contributing writers are not necessarily trying to cause problems when they post their articles. however, if we find we disagree with what they are saying we can express ourselves in a respectable manner. and they would respond accordingly. your comment is made in a way that subtly undermines Assenna. if that’s not malice, i wonder what is. faultfinding is not helpful at all. try to encourage those who are trying all they can to make a difference.

Sister, constructive criticism is an essential element in any successful work. Only those who think they are above criticism call it “malice”. Did I say they are doing wrong ?, no. I said they are doing well, but could also do better by introducing a written editorial policy that everyone should respect, beside avoiding controversial issues right from the start.
Dhab, when if you don’t help them look at things from a different perspective, you are in some ways undermining their efforts, and hence what they are doing for common good.
Conformism is an important element of which a tyrannic mindset is made.
