Once again we remind assenna readers that we don’t allow articles with pseudonyms and anonymous by-lines; especially for articles and comments which criticise individuals and groups of people. Those who dare to criticise others must have the courage to do it in a transparent manner. In such instances, contributors must use their real names and should provide us with their telephone number. Generally, we prefer even general comments and articles to be submitted under real names of individual writers. This editorial policy doesn’t apply to contributors from Eritrea for understandable reasons.
A few hours ago we published articles about the Eritrean Community in Toronto and EYGM member in the UK by mistake and we have withdrawn them for this very reason.
We apologise to the individuals affected by the articles and comments. SORRY!!

Dear ASSENNA
Amaniel it is not your fault to apoligize, we the ones who try to corrupt the forum
are responsible for the blame. There is limitation to freedom of speech. Sometimes
it is necessary to take action to preserve the reputation of this website.
To anyone who posts unpleasant remarks to irritate readers:
1st step, give them adivice. 2nd step, warning. 3rd step, dismiss them out.

dear ahmed saleh
what you said is right. but assena is deleting our comments and preventing us from commenting. so where is the democracy, where is tolerance, where is your stand for the G-15 which the action of the assena is doing like the dictator so in the future of Eritrea assena will kill and imprison G-4million people of Eritrea.
look now they will delete and prevent my comments.
shame on them really.

Hello Amanuel,
Contrary to to opinion of some paticipators here, posting has nothing to do with courage/coward, it is the question of communicating in a way suitable for my wellbeing without attacking someone. People have the possibility to reply any comment here.
Assena was the only free website for me where I/everybody had the chance to air my/his opinion without fear of the DIAs scattered in the world. Amaniel Please don’t forbid anonymou comments.
Until now I have read no articles/comments that have such a weight as you exagerate/claim!!!
The contents are important, not the real names or their telephone number of a publiher. This would seem as if you want to introduce a censoring system like DIA is doing ! At the same time you are legitimating the regime in Assmara.
Thank you for the service you are affording for nothing.

As I stated free speech have limitation. To preserve
the credibility of their website they have to take
neccessary action against corrupt minds before it is too late. The same practice exists in western media.
To keep the work in order you have to set rule and
regulation to control the task.
Asme April 6, 2012
I can still read your comment/compliant about assenna; which refute you baseless accusation.
Sara April 7, 2012
Asme what a great point you have made, keep up the sharp mind working brother.

I always advised that let people share their views with using offensive language. We are adults and we need to respect each other. I may be against the idea of Senait, but not necessarily against the person of Senait. We have to be able to distinguish the opinion from the person. Disrespectful language and vulgarity has entered into our culture with HGDEF. Let us all uproot this cheap tradition and regain our woreja culture. I am also asking our sister Senait to control her emotions and regain her delicacy and gentleness as a woman. Amanuel Iyasu is a highly respected person and does not deserve to be treated like that.

Sorry: Read without…
Senait April 6, 2012
Amanuel Eyasu,
By removing the article, I think you gave the issue much more credence and weight. Truth hurts. It must be hurting. The intentions may be to protect one or two the people mentioned in the article. As long as, they are public figures they will be subject to public scrutiny and the more they want to hide their past involvement and wrong-doing the more they will attract public attention and curiosity. The only real solution is for the people involved in the issues to come upfront and refute the accusation by presenting their side of the story.
I admire your efforts to fight the PFDJ. But we also need to weed out all type of corruption within us. A corrupt is a corrupt irrespective of the camp he or she is in.
As to your new standard, this is a double talk. It does not hold water. By your actions, I get clues you are not free from group think. Your excuse is a bogus one. For me, this is a learning moment and opportunity I never sought. We need to practice what we preach; otherwise we are destined to fail.
Final note: I am not the Senait that hurls insults.
Asme April 7, 2012
As indicated on the above by assenna staff, this is not about suppressing information. If an article is written genuinely to correct mistakes made by any individual or group the writer need not be anonymous. Unless of course they are in Eritrea.
semere April 7, 2012
What we are trying to do is to build up a democratic culture whereby readers express their opinions with respect and politeness. One may not agree with the idea of a contributor but there is no need of character assassination. That is the style of HGDEF. When they know your opinion is true and fail to prove you wrong, they search your weaknesses, or as often happens, they invent some. The usual arguments they say that you are CIA, Woyane, Agame, etc, because they know this are sensitive and explosive topics. And by doing that they divert us from the issues at stake and often they manage. Like this article, the real issue is if Assenna should continue to publish everything or avoid some ill-mannered comments. But we are attacking each other and forget to comment on the proposal of Assenna. So far Assenna is the only web that gives space to all, even though it is opposition website. The other websites are one way: either for or against HGDEF. We want to maintain this culture by making it more qualified, professional and democratic. We only need to check our language to keep up its standard.
Ahmed saleh April 7, 2012
Thank you Semere. It is a matter of respect, politeness and acceptance as Eritreans.
For those who show no manners because they prefer to exploit the opportunity of free
access in this forum. ASSENNA have full right to protect the credibility of their site.
They work hard to reach in this standard and for the sake of those voiceless brothers
and sisters I support the move they took to let us know not to take for granted.
Commentators with good will regardless of their opinion do need to worry as far as I
concern. We experienced good writers retreat from participating in dialogue because
disrespectful personal attacks by some HGDF sympathizers. So to make the forum
pleasant and attractive to readers particularly our youth something got be done.
semere April 7, 2012
Ahmed hawey,
Thank you for your views which are always constructive. Exactly this is the roadmap for building a democratic culture. Eritrea belongs to all of us, and we have the right to express our ideas. HGDEF and their supporters want us to swallow everything they say. We refuse breastfeeding! I am sure we shall soon outnumber them and Assenna will be shine as a respectable website. I propose to nominate Amanuel Iyasu as the Minister of Information for “Eritrea after HGDEf!!!!”

Only good hearted and righteous people think positive and wish good to the person who deserve aknowledgement. Thank you , one love brother.

Thank you Amanuel about your advice. It is true when everyone wants to express his opinion he can do in a civilized way. It is true in recently days I have seen many bad words and I think it is from the PFDJ. supporters here insulting and criticizing people here as usual. I hope everyone of us to be positive in this regard.
Thank you.
