Nine members of the Eritrean National Football team, including the head coach Mr Omer Ahmed and team captain Haile Goitom abandon the dictatorial regime in Eritrea seeking political asylum in Kenya.

Two of them confirmed to demo.archive.assenna.com on the phone about their decision not to go back home to Eritrea. Samson was not able to continue his conversation, while another player who didn’t consent his name to be made public said “the endless national service, extreme repression and lack of freedom” was the main reason for his decision.

The Eritrean National Football team has been to Kenya to participate in the regional annual Cecafa competition.

Although the regime tried its best to minimize defection by calling many Eritrean semi and non professional players from abroad into the team, it couldn’t escape the embarrassment it faced for several times.

Two of the payers have been in hiding before the completion of the tournament, while the remaining 7 have just followed them.

12 members of the Eritrean national team have defected last year in Uganda, after participating in similar regional tournament. Almost all Red Sea football club players have also done the same prior to that.

Where is Dani the one who called me stone head, who is stone head, the one who does not understand Reality, and lives in a wishful thanking, or the one who accepts reality as is? I do not have time to write on the moment, but I will come back later to hear from the rat mind Dany.

Next time, YPFDJ members with their coach Yemane monkey should go to soccer tournament to avoid defection. Sound good for PFDJ gangs.

Instead paying round trip tickets to Kenya
I advise “the government” to open
the borders and let everybody leave the country!

We don’t care about the loser people who defected. We don’t need them, as long as we have our President and demhit in Eritrea. As i have stated in the past there is no hope in the weak young Eritrean men who are choosing to become white men and Ethiopian slaves. The next Eritrea’s national soccer team will be from demhit and they will represent us with pride.Viva President Isaias and Demhit!

  • denden December 9, 2013

    Eden,
thank you for being honest, but I am afraid demhit and its followers are not in to any
kind of sports, they are just ordinary “shefatu”. I am afraid it is going to take a lot
of time, energy and resources to engage them in to sport. or maybe Baba Isayas might come
up with something destructive ideas to make it possible, let’s wait and see.
thank you though, I share you paid.

    • Demhit December 9, 2013

      Eden,
This is good idea, from now on demhit should represent Eritrea in foot ball competition then we will not worry about defection from national team. Viva edu and demhi !!

    • Eden December 9, 2013

Hi denden, do you have any idea what Demhit means? You see a lot people including you think of demhit as shefatu people, but that is way far from the truth. Demhit has a strong and long roots in Eritrea, even way before Eritrea was created by the Italian. If you know your history before the Italian enslaved us that part of the world was ruled by Tegaru or current name known as Demhit. In fact, the tegaru who ruled Eritrea before the Italian were our President family members. So, as you could see Demhit is deeper than what you think, even you its possible that you could be Demhit if you are Tigrinya. For example, if you are Hamassien most likely you are from Tembien like our president, or if you are Akologzay most likely you are from Agama, etc.

        Who is us?
You are not an Eritrean. So go to Ethiopia. Eritrean issue is none of your business. You are trying to normalize the DEMHIT issue. It is the end of the road for you and the dictator. If you were real Eritrean, you will not even try to say what you are saying right now. The DEMHIT issue is driving most of the PFDJ and YPFDJ members to their sense and to their peoples’ side. Any one who thinks, the action of the dictator to have DEMHIT to roam the streets of Asmara is normal is only exposing him/her self as anti-Eritreans. Begone anti Eritreans.
        Eternal glory to our martyrs!
        Death to sellouts and infiltrators!
