* Ethiopia announced previous attack on Thursday

* Eritrea says will not be “entrapped” by incursion (Adds background)

ADDIS ABABA, March 17 (Reuters) – Ethiopian troops carried out more attacks on Ethiopian rebels inside Eritrea on Saturday, a day after Eritrea called for U.N. action against its neighbour for a previous incursion.

This week’s attacks were the first on Eritrean soil that Addis Ababa has admitted to since the end of a 1998-2000 war that killed 70,000 people. Eritrea says there have been others before.

“We’ve carried out further attacks on targets inside Eritrea. This time it’s in the north section around Badme,” a senior Ethiopian government official told Reuters on Saturday.

“We were once again successful. This strike was part of our plan to take proportional measures that included the attacks in Eritrea’s southeast.”

The official did not say who the troops had targeted, but said Ethiopia’s government would make a more detailed announcement later in the day.

Addis Ababa announced on Thursday its troops had raided three military bases in Eritrea which it said were used by the rebels. It also accused the Eritrean government weeks ago of planning to kidnap Western tourists.

Eritrea said on Friday it would not be “entrapped” by the military incursion, signalling its determination to avert another conflict with its bitter foe. It called on the U.N. Security Council to “take appropriate measures to rectify acts of aggression against Eritrea’s sovereign territories”.

A vicious row over the position of Eritrea and Ethiopia’s shared border was not resolved at the end of the war.

The Hague-based Eritrea-Ethiopia Boundary Commission ruled in 2002 that the border village of Badme belonged to Eritrea. But the village remains in Ethiopia, Washington’s main ally in the volatile Horn of Africa. (Reporting by Aaron Maasho; Writing by James Macharia; Editing by Alessandra Rizzo)

Is this going to stop here or is this Ethiopia’s plan to drive it’s tanks to Asmara
Where are the international communities, UN,,US,,etc.
I love to see the end of Isaias’s idiotic rule, but I dont wan’t to see or hear any wardrams.
We paid enough in 98-2000,,, for nothing. That war started slowly and esclated to a huge scale war.It could have been solved deplomatically and we could been leaving a peacefull life. No SINAI,,NO LYBIA,,NO PAIN NO HARDSHIP.
Now if history repits it self,,, the next decade will be just the same life to all of us like the last decade,,a dacede of DEATH,, MIGRATION,, PAIN ,, HARDSHIP,,, LONLYNESS,, SADNESS.

Peopleif you could please,, please,, please,, what ever faith you have there is only one solution to avoid this,, please pray to god with good heart.
May god bring a peaceful solution to this…NO WAR …NO WAR ,, NO WAR…NO ONE IS A WINNER FROM WAR..

      Petros:
I dont think Ethiopia has a plan ignite a full scale war but to show that patience has limit and if the DIA insist supporting the rubbish Ethiopian rebels, it might be the end of DIA. But sure we will also pay the price nothing can be done the ball is on the hand of DIA peace or war- come to their sense and give the power to the Eritrean people.

this is really sad that Ethiopian soldiers again attack in Eritrean soil, you can see clearly that hegdefawyan don;t have potential to retaliate or defend their border, i wish this could end the brutal regime but, the thing here is where the hell the so called TEQAWEMTY, if things goes the way it is something weird could happen which will lead us to the wrong path.but Eritrean information ministers said that sarcastically in his recent statement as if there was nothing happen on ground. who is going to die isayas or the already dead alive innocent Eritreans, i don;t think HIS SON ABRAHM IS GOING TO BE PART OF THE WARSAY. he can watch the war as if playing a game in his comfortable sofa, this what is going to happen. MAY ALLAH safe the innocent Eritrean soul from any aggressors and keep safe our country. the 1st up to the 3rd offensive war was an example to all Eritreans what has happened. we don;t want to see that again. my only advice is to WARSAY to do something to get rid of this one man regime so that peace can prevail and every citizen can breath fresh air and get pea of mind the for the rest of our live as well.once again those blind supporters plz wake up and stand for your right not by asking Mr president how many hours do you sleep which is nonsense question.

MAY ALLAH SAFE ERITREA FROM AGGRESSORS

    delay fethi

Eritrea is not Isaias’s sole property. Despite the mad man’s irresponsible rule and the current situation, you bet! Eritreans will never rest their arms crossed while the Agames invading the Martyrs’ land. ደቂ ኤረ! ፍልልያትና ይጽንሓልና!

No fighting for Eritreans under the leadership of Isaias. Our primary enemy is Isaias, we have first to take Isaias even with the help of our neighbors and the international community. The mafia in Asmara are danger to both stability and peace in the region and international community. The dangers of the mafia transcended Eritrea and flooded to region and international community. Eritreans are not ready to defend mafia.

When we fought in the past against colonizers, we have done it to liberate the land and the people. The people didn’t get their freedom and the land is in danger of split, because of the works of the mafia in Asmara. Eritreans to get peace first they should get rid of Isaias and his worshipers or they will continue to be human body organs providers to the international markets.

I think such an action has been a bit too late from the Ethiopian part, Eri-tv has long been a propaganda machine for the so-called Ethiopian opposition groups, the PFDJ has been arming them to thier teeth, and to my surprise the Ethiopians have been over patiant over this issue.
Isaias doesn’t understand the diplomatic language, as we have seen in may 2000, when Ethiopian troops reached Barentu, cried to the UN that he is ready to accept all demands that were put forward by the Ethiopian government. Such humuliation devided the ruling party and later he vanished them all.

Now the situation is even far more worse for the PFDJ, many military personel will be jailed and it would lead into his demise once and for all.

    Dear Gurum,
I agree with you that Eritrea is not esayas’s sole property, great!. It is Esayas who is experting terrorists to Ethiopia instead of working for a peaceful nieghbourhood. Eritreas shares more than 1000kms teritory with Ethiopian brothers. For peace to prevail citizens of the two countires should respect each other. If there is hostility between the two people peace can not come even in the absence of Esayas. For example you are insulting Ethiopians saying agame, this means you are contributing to war/or hostility. But you should know that AGAME is one of the golden awrajas of TIGRAY. So do not waste your energy and time promoting hostility between eritrea and tigray. after all the tigray people postive towards thier eritrean borthers and sisters
I wish success to the two people

If Ethiopia can conduct military operations undetered, I would assume that:

    1. Eritrean forces are conspiring with Weyane or.
    2. Eritrean forces are too weak to defend themselves let alone the border.

With these premises, we can draw a conclusion that Ethiopian can conduct military operation any where inside Eritrea and at any time. We can further assume that Eritrean Defense Force has now effectively become to be symbolic.

It is Isaias war and his worshipers, it is not an Eritrean. If you care about Isaias go and fight for him. No war for Eritreans under the banner of Isaias.

It is not Worera (agression). it is a retaliation for the terorrist attacks on tourists and ethiopians. The attack is never targeted toward Eritreans but may be toward essayas. In the absence of esayas, the two people can live peacefully with cooperation and respect among eachother. What makes Eritreans and Tigreans to fight? there is no any reason, but absence of a positive leadership from Erutrea side. Meles have tried a lot and still trying. But as a leader of ethiopia he can not keep silent while his people are bleeding by terorrists. he has to take measure, against esayas, WERERA GIN AYKONEN.

ata hawey entay tiblena aleka abzi kid emo tewagae.. this site is for those who wish regime change and I think no body is here even inside Eritrea ready to die for DIA. The solution is at the hand of DIA. But as to my asumption it is tooooo late to ask the Eritrean youth for help now. What we can and should do is to inform our brothers and sisters to turn their gun against the murderer and hence bring about change.

Other like Grum and the like can go and die for DIA if u want but non eof the HGDF supporters want to die but to pretend as ultra nationalis by labeling those who demand change as traiters and non Eritreans.

Those stone headed DIA supporters are cancer nowadays and will be cancer in the new eritrea blaming every policy and activities of the new democratic regime.
