The pundits and spinners of the regime are hailing the lifting of the sanctions to gain political mileage and to distract the Eritrean public from the relevant burning issues. They made it appear as if the sanction was responsible for all the economic and political crisis in Eritrea. How on earth does an imposed arms embargo on regime arms dealers, travel ban on regime functionaries/ their families and asset freeze on corrupt regime extortionist impact the life of an ordinary Eritrean? I won’t be surprised, if the people who continue to plunder Eritrea’s wealth generated from gold, nickel, zinc, potash and revenues from leasing Eritrean ports to UAE/Saudi Arabia hail and celebrate the lifting of the sanction. The have now the green light to continue to steal and hoard Eritrean peoples wealth in foreign banks without being held accountable. DIA and his stooges will always try to offer a long series of lame excuses such as border conflict, peace accord and now lifting of the sanction to hoodwink the Eritrean people. The human and economic toll inflicted on people of Eritrea by the border conflict, outflow of refugees, compulsory indefinite military service(enslavement) is much worse than the targeted sanctions. What is even worse is the architects of the crisis are celebrating their own crisis as an achievement. How can people with a rational mind celebrate? hen an unelected regime rules without parliament/national assembly/constitution, continues to hold political prisoners without due process & trial, signs secret agreements with foreign powers without the consent of the people, subjugates its youth to indefinite military service and unpaid labor and does not disclose its finances to the public. If that gives them the reason to hail, let them go to hell.
Sanctions did no harm to the regime but the regime sanctioned our people by preventing our people from free movement, free press, trade, construction, water supply, electricity etc. etc. We will see now if the regime will reap the fruits of the lifting of sanctions.
Issayas Afewerki Abraha is doing EXACTLY in accordance with his glaring revenge [“ከርእየክን እዬ”]. From that devilish grudge against the Eritrean people, Issayas is a perfect conformist to his own ideas and intentions. Consequently, there is nothing strange to his devilish accomplishment i.e. revenge against the total population of Eritrea. In fact, Issayas Afewerki Abraha, as a simple creature, could not, and did not, accomplish what he hatched without the support of Eritreans themselves. It is NOT a new phenomenon. People, with all their faculties intact, could be perfect instrument for the liquidation of their fellow man. History testifies so.
What is amazing however, is that Eritreans who are safely secured in foreign countries are ardent supporters of Issayas!!! I rush to add, however, NOT ALL of them, for sure. I call them the SILENT ONES. They are quiet observers, who couldn’t get together, tending to their respective occupation and ambition, far away from the purgatory of Eritrea. In their spare times, they (individually) occupy themselves scribbling anything that popes out of their brains. I confess: I am self-invited member of that club – far, far, far away from that devilish creature that paralyzed the entire society of a nation, baptized as Eritrea. Here is an insightful Eritrean proverb about telling the TRUTH: “ሓቂ፡ ንሓንቲ መዓልቲ ጭንቂ፡ ንዘልኣለም ጽድቂ ።” [1]
So, in any case, what is next? In view of the phenomenal development in neighbouring Ethiopia, we might as well enjoy the spectacle — from a distance — and HOPE (i.e. the treasure of failures] that one day we will find what we are searching for and LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER for ETERNITY. THE END
