MANHATTAN — An African diplomat was found dead in a hotel near the United Nations Friday morning, sources said.
The man, who was in his 60s, was discovered unconscious and unresponsive at the Millennium Hotel, at 2 UN Plaza, at 10:40 a.m. after he failed to show up for a meeting, police sources said.
The Eritrean delegate was later pronounced dead. Fire officials said they responded to a call of a person found dead at 10:44 a.m. The permanent mission of Eritrea to the UN did not immediately respond to calls for comment.
The hotel also did not immediately comment.
No criminality was suspected in the incident and sources said the man died of natural causes. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
The UN maintains offices in the the building, but a spokeswoman said that the death had nothing to do with those offices or any others under UN control.
The General Assembly is in session this week.

Thanks to the almighty God! It ends up the life of Higdefawi that considered himself as eternal to cause the sufferings of innocent Eritreans. I hope that the big devil Isaias Afewerki as well as Higdefawyan and the nasty military commanders will follow his foot steps soon. The game of forced slavery “National Service” will be over soon. Isaias and his followers will face the repercussion for what they gambled against the life of the Eritrean youth, former Eritrean officials and journalists, His holiness the Patriarch of Eritrea and many religious leaders and followers, professionals like Dr. Fitsum Gebrenegus and many others who were killed or detained in prison, those who were killed along the boarder of Ethiopia and Sudan or in the Sinai desert including many who were drowned in the Meditrenian Sea. The end of the Tyrant Isaias regime and his followers is inevitable. Eritrea will be the land of democracy and justice where all its citizens are enjoying the meaning of life in their soil.

I sure understand your consternation but the news item is about the death of an individual where we are expected to maintain cool heads as we refuse to stoop into the level of PFDJ thugs where the lose of an individual’s life is not respected. The deceased person might have been a PFDJ apologist but most of all he was a person and an Eritrean as well. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family.
Ethi September 25, 2011
Thank you, Temesgen. Well said. I admire your humanity. Before, we are Eritreans, PFDFians and all the ..ians that is dividing us/the world, we are one human race. The answer is love not hate.
Two wrongs don’t make right. May God Bless the soul of the deceased and his eternal life rest in peace.

Thanks Temesgen and Ethi for pointing out the importance of focusing on our humanity first and foremost.
But would we have said the same thing had it be a non-Eritrean? That is a test our genuineness!

It is around the corner. Shabia’s death is coming sooner than you might think.
Wolde September 24, 2011
If the statement is true as state, this guy passed away peacefully. Even though undesrved, passing peaceuly, the Eritrean people are blessed to have one known criminal go.

My first reaction to the news(thinking about our people who are suffering in the prisons of Eritrea for years) was “Great,I wish it was Isseyas, Kisha and Monkey( non-Eritreans) “. But after thinking for a while, I went like “Can’t feel sorry for people who are against their people”

Apparently, many Eritreans will not be sympathetic to the death of a PFDJ member. Who, among GoE official, has shown an interest let alone sympathy when over 400 Eriteans drowned in the Mediterranean sea. Who , among government officials , has shown any sympathy when many died at the border by those who are ordered to shoot any body at sight. Has any government official shown an effort to release those remaining in prison for no crime at all but for their political opinion or religious beliefs.
PFDJ members , i.e. Issayas , and his close confidants, are getting old witth out grooming any one to replace them. Who would replace these criminals anyways. We will see them leaving the world one by one. If not punished for what they have done in this world, perhaps they will pay price in heaven, assuming there exists the most high who is fair and free from bias.

Ok so some dude kicked the bucket boo hooo can we move already? If he was a member of Eritrean deligation as the article alludes, I say good riddance. Chances are he was one of pfdj thugs. Only a dirty person would be allowed to travel with a criminal Ass-iyass. So Sofia Temam Aff has announced it the criminal will be trying to b.s. the blind ones and the opportunists will show up. The place is supposedley at the Home of the Hammerstien. No time given. Is this a move to send those who would demonstrate to thriw them off? If so PFDJ must have sunk to a new low. The fact Temmam Aff did not put the tine is either on purpose or she is your avarage dim wit PFDJ operator. I hope someone will have the balls to ask the mafia boss if he still stands by the statmente he made a couple years ago, when he said it would be anothet 30 to 40 years before democracy.
Or why one of his officials thinks that being held in metal containers are living in luxury? Why was not a national mourning declared when hundreds of Eritreans drowned in the high seas? A mafia does not care about the people. Just as Shaebia does. Oh and Ethiopia is no better it is just the West just gives the weyen a pass.

It is mind puzzling why PIA officials most of them die of heart attack.Salhe Meki, former foreign minister, and Fish the journalist, and this guy I think PIA is using Stalin technique to dispose those who try to differ.I wonder how the PIA is survives even though he can not go to bed without a bottle of Whisky.
It is good that every body knows that finally we gone pass but we should make our life beautiful by doing good deed.
