Dear Amanuel, (This is a four part comment related to your curent commentary. I divided into four parts to avoid deleting my message due to its length)
1. I appreciate the urgency and emphasis you are giving for the bottom up/grassroots movement of Diaspora Eritreans in every corner of the world to get organized to elect their legitimate leaders who will represent them and who are accountable to those who trusted them with the responsibility to ending the Eritrean Nightmare. As Assenna Radio and demo.archive.assenna.com, Our Voice – Eritrea, and the NegabaE Panelists on Eritreans Affairs, that is moderated by Naz Yemane of Radio Voice of Eritrea, Halifax Canada, ((https://youtu.be/oXqmsjjOrmQ) and the several Eritrean Groups in several US cities, in Holland, England, Scandinavian countries and other places are advocating, the true path to ending the Eritrean Nightmare is the grassroots/bottom up approach. The approach involves the Eritreans people in the Diaspora. And as we all know, nothing can be achieved without the active involvement and support of the people. Please focus your program in achieving this goal.
will be contnued next.
2. As you and the others who are advocating the grassroots movement are advocating, the sooner we organize Eritreans in their respective localities, then in every continent to form a platform that will elect the leaders of the Eritreans in that continent, i.e., America, Africa, Australia, Canada, Middle East, and the rest of Asia and other places where there are critical masses of Eritreans. The third step is the election of Global Leaders at an assembly of all the leaders of the Eritreans in the different continents.
3. This Global Leaders will have the mandate to craft an effective strategy to bring an end to the Eritrean Nightmare with the assistance of high caliber Eritrean technocrats who will help them in lobbying, raising the necessary resources from Eritreans and from the International Community, resources they need in waging effective media propaganda, and with the collaboration of forces inside the country and the support of the international community . The European Union and Germany and other countries who have lost faith on the fragmented Eritrean opposition groups have decided to give millions of dollars hoping that Isaias will stop the flow of refugees. If we had legitimate Global Leaders who can represent the Eritreans in the Diaspora, the countries who are now deciding to help Isaias to stem the flow of refugees would no doubt deal with our Global Leaders. Because of this, all those who support the bottom up approach should take this urgent task and focus all their activities to mobilize Eritreans so that we can have our Global Leaders without any further delay. I am therefore appealing to Assenna Radio, demo.archive.assenna.com, Our Voice, th NegabaE group, and the cities that are already organized to intensify their effort in organizing Eritreans in every part of the world. Civic orgnaizations such as EFND, Eritrean for Global Solidarity in the US and the other similar civi organization in other parts of hte world should do the same to save our country urgently.
4. Anything can happen that can bring the demise of the dictatorial regime any time, and if this happens before the Global Leaders are formed to prepare a blue print for a smooth transition to democracy, our country can face chaos similar to what Somalia, Libya and the other countries who ended uo in a mess after the removal of the dictators. Please read an important communiqué, titled, “The daunting challenges of saving the Eritrean State,” issued by Eritreans for National Dialogue (EFND) December 18, 2015 that is posted in several Eritrean Website that underscores the need to prepare for this eventuality.
5. A Message to Eritrean Opposition Parties. Speaking for myself, I recognize the life time sacrifice you have made at tremendous cost to you and your families for the sake of saving Eritrea. No one can claim to have proven record of dedication that you have made, some of you for over 30 years during the liberation of Eritrea and for the last 25 years since Eritrea has become independent. No one can take this well deserved credit from you. However, experience should have thought you by now, that the fragmentation you faced among you did not help in winning the support of your people outside and inside the coutnry; you must have also noticed that the International Community could not come help you because they have lost confidence in the fragmented opposition groups. I am therefore urging you to support the grassroots movement whole heartedly realizing that this is an approach that will help you to achieve the goal that you have sacrificed for so many years. Keep in mind, those who are advocating the grassroots movement do not have ambitions to take power. It is the organized political parties who will assume power if the Eritrean people support them to govern the country. So, please participate in mobilizing the Eritreans in the Diaspora to get organized. In the meantime, take time to prepare your policy papers on all the spheres and the challenges of governing a free and democratic country that you will deal with if and when you are elected to govern the nation– economic policies, education policies, foreign affairs, and a myriad of issues a governing body faces. End of my comments.
