Eritrea’s human rights record has long faced international criticism. Located in the Horn of Africa, the country is home to five million people, but so closed to the outside world that individual stories tend to come almost exclusively from those who have fled.

Amnesty International,
Thank you for mapping out the gulags in Eritrea corresponding satellite images.
Few weeks ago, I met a young Eritrean who had spent five years in several Eritrean gulags. The young man told me that the worst gulag/prison in Eritrea is Adi Abeyto. He also remembers his days in May Edaga and Ala gulags as some of the worst, only better than Adi Abeyto because some prisoners are allowed to venture out for few hours in a week to tend the private farms and gardens of the high ranking Eritrean officers.

Justice May 19, 2013
Dear amnesty international,
where had you been till now as thousands were killed, slaughtered, kidnapped, raped, paid Ransom,….etc? Even now you don’ mention the Sinai Phenomenon, why?
The consperacies have no limit! The hypocracy the UNHR shows is just a fake/scam
Haben May 19, 2013
Because the root cause is only pfdj. Why do you think the ransom for some of the kidnapped at the sinai is paid in full IN ASMARA.???? Be rational. The budins are paid by the christian generals like tekle manjus!
Salim May 19, 2013
“paid in full IN ASMARA” ?
How do you know?
Awet May 19, 2013
I personally know because I just helped a friend with a fundraiser. The funds we raised went straight to Asmara. As a result of it the individual that was captured is free. My information is first hand. You can believe what you want believe.
Salim May 19, 2013
Do you want me to believe you?
Ali-lol May 19, 2013
my friend`s cousin is first hand witness, too. all money paid in full in asmara. the families are afraid to tell anyone because they think it is done by the pfdj. who trusts who is the question. all the victims prefer to keep it silent. I guarantee you, after pfdj, people will talk openly and we will see who is going to jail first and foremost ( if they remain alive)
Salim May 19, 2013

Ms. Beston of Amnesty International,
Thank you for informing the world the worst human abuse, torture, atrocities and inhumane activities committed against innocent Eritreans. The world does not know what is happening in Eritrea. The dictator in Eritrea ruled Eritrea for more than 40 years. He have killed many fighters before and after independence including 15 officials who dared to question his authority. Eritrea is now the worst place on earth. There are more than 300 prisons in Eritrea. Thank you for the map you showed in your segment. There is no rule of law, no due process, no parliament, no vice president, no freedom of speech, etc.
Ms. Beston, what is the AI waiting? Can’t you charge the criminal Isaias Afwwerki in the Hague? What more evidence do you need to charge him in ICC?

An Ethiopian maid, who attempted to commit suicide by consuming detergent, has been admitted to the intensive care unit of a hospital, reports Al-Shahed daily. As soon as the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior received a call from her sponsor, paramedics rushed to the house, administered first aid and rushed her to the hospital. A case of attempted suicide has been registered against her.

What a wonderful job AI. DIA knows he is responsible for the many killing and distraction, therefore, he is doing all he can to cause more distractions before he is gone. For the regime supporters, why don’t you ask your beloved cult leader to allow the international community like the Red Cross to have access to the presinors?

ESAT News May 18, 2013
Federal Police arrested fourteen people in the Afar Region including a Kebele Chairman, member of Woreda Council, a police officer and elders, in relation to the Afar Gadle Armed Movement. The arrests follow the recent desertion of over 70 Afar youth who joined the Armed Movement.
Abduli Momin, Chairman of Rumayto Kebele, Nor Ali, speaker of the House, Yayo Ali, Police Chief, Abdujelil Anfere , Muhamed Ali, Muhamed Isaye, Muhamed Yesuf, Abo Abdu, Foka Hale, Habib Mohammed, Abdul Hussien, Yesuf Ahmed and Abdi Nuur are among the detained.
Colonel Mohammed Ahmed, Chief of the Movement admitted that many people have been arrested in the region and most of them are his relatives. The whereabouts of some of the detainees is unknown, Colonel Mohammed said.
In related News, five Afar people have been killed while 15 were injured in an ethnic fight between Afar and Somali ethnic groups near Awash River. The fight follows an earlier clash a month ago in the same place. The number of causalities within the Hawiya people of the Somali Region has not been known.
ESAT was unable to get the views of the government on the matter. Similarly, although ESAT phoned Abdi Mohammed, the President of the Somali Regional state, to speak to him regarding the cross border attacks by the Somali Regional militia, we were unsuccessful as he had reportedly travelled to Addis Abeba for a meeting.

,,,,,,and how is your comment related to the above (HUMAN RIGHTS) report?
The Woyanne junta has moved 20 prominent political prisoners, including journalist Woubshet Taye, to a remote prison camp in southern Ethiopia yesterday. The families of the political prisoners were not notified before the prisoners were taken to a prison camp near the town of Zeway, 6 hours drive from Addis Ababa. They were surprised and shocked to find out that the prisoners were not in Kality any longer when they arrived this morning.
The political prisoners moved to the remote location ahead of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s trip to Ethiopia. This is further shameful evidence of the Obama Administration’s hypocrisy when it comes to human rights and democracy in Africa.

Which comes first ?. What is happening in Eritrea or what is happening in our Southern neighbor ?. This is like stating the obvious. If you really care about Eritrea, you should be concerned about your country first.
Eritrea is ruled by a doomsday cult group headed by a man known to be the worst monster on planet now. Tens of thousands are kept in underground prisons, where many of them are dying slowly, and buried in unmarked graves throughout the country.
What is happening in Eritrea is a genocide similar to that of Cambodia under the Red Khmers. There is an Eritrean Holocaust in the making. No sane person can justify these crimes unless he/she is motivated by excessive to humanity. Eritrea has no prisons (to reform those committed crimes), it has a system designed to kill people systematically after long year in detention.
We know what is going in Ethiopia, it’s none of our business to talk about it, unless some one drags us into it, like a few hate monger Tigryans here on this forum do every day, just to insult Eritrea and it’s people. They have their problems, and we have much worse problems that require our attention.

In case you are lost in between , this is Eritrean forum and we do not have a business to
interfere on someone else affairs except our demanding issues .

You are a human rights activist. One expects Ethiopia to be part of your concern.

Salim May 20, 2013
So, what is your problem?
Asme May 20, 2013
Mr Salim is more concerned about the problem in Ethiopia, because he knows his roots very well. He doesn’t care if Eritrea, as a country is eliminated from the map;just like his Boss Issyas Afewerki. assenna admins should weed out comments posted by Salim and his likes, as their comments are not relevant to the topic in discussion.

Please read “No sane person can justify these crimes unless he/she is motivated by excessive hate to humanity.”
ahmed saleh May 20, 2013
These events are some part of Eritrean lives inside the country . Their suffering affects our life
and keep haunting us from our comfortable zone .
May God end the power of dominance and show mercy to those helpless victims by giving them strength
to overcome the pain to lead them for the bright future .
