People get what they deserve. Dictators do as much as people can tolerate. Once the mass say no,only then the dictator will change course. Note: saying NO comes with a cost. I doubt we have enough people who can say no.

Our dear leader has got his lesson from the Kamarrougge in Cambodia to enslaves in the ditches.

  • Merid Zeru August 7, 2014

Sidiuabdu: I agree people have to decolonized their mind from slave mind and said no enough is enough. The atrocities existed in Eritrea are somehow similar to the past Cambodians. Let mention briefly to the readers, when the Khmer Rouge took control of the Cambodian government in 1975, they declared the beginning of a new age dedicated to a peasant-oriented society. Instead, after outlawing education, religion, healthcare and technology, the Khmer Rouge ordered the evacuation of Cambodia’s cities and forced these residents to labour without adequate food or rest. Those who were unable to keep up were often summarily executed. At the same time, the Khmer Rouge began to target suspected political dissidents. These citizens, including doctors, teachers and those suspected of being educated were singled out for torture at the notorious Tuol Sleng prison. In four years, between 1.7 and 2 million Cambodians died in the Khmer Rouge’s ‘Killing Fields. We Eritreans by leaving the country behind our back to other atrocities of death we can’t solve the problem. We have a serious challenges and we have to deal with it mentally and physically.First step to the long journey is to decolonize our mentality and as you mentioned it,to say no (enough is enough).

    • Debesay Hadgu August 7, 2014

Good said Merid. We have said enough is enough for more than 20 years. What we lacking is however, vision, vision, vision! PFDJ and its supporters are no longer a problem now. The big problem is within ourselves, especially within the so called opposition camps. Look how we attacked Medrek. The members of Medrek are some of the few heavy weight individuals Eritrea has ever had. But yet they were attacked not only from PFDJ camps but from the opposition camps as well. Unless we stop that, we will never gain any momentum to get rid of the evil junta. Eritrea is full of atrocity and everybody, I repeat everybody, even my 80 years old mum and my 7 years old son know it. But how is the problem. Unity does not come without price. If there are people out there for whom we don’t like them, we have enough time to get rid of them once we overthrow the evil junta in Asmara. But no body dare to understand this except very few people. Thanks.

  • Merid Zeru August 7, 2014

Debesay Hadgu: Dear brother as you mentioned it,a few well-oriented citizens have said enough is enough not the majority Eritreans. Let us call together to the silent majority to say enough is enough. There is an old proverb in the Tigrigna language “Derhos biamut deka tisawet” I knew that the Eritrea’s Elites, as they are not playing effective roll but they have no capability to adapt or bring new Paradigm Shift. You know brother “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” my hope is from the new generation. Thanks very much for your constructive participation. wedhanka!

    • sidiabdu@gmail.com August 7, 2014

      Merid,

The dictator at home and his cronies abroad are always watching. As long as opposition to the regime is disorganized disorganized, he will ignore our call for justice. However, once he realized that we mean business, he will try to infilitrate and divide us, favor one group against other. When he this strategy fails,e will try to get sweaty and will only think of his survival. In short, if you orgaized opposition (no matter the size of membership), and you are not afraid to say no, you will notice the change of behavoiour of any dicatator including ours. After he can’t kill all of us and he can’t send us all to jail, who will do his dirty work.

    • Debesay Hadgu August 7, 2014

Dear Merid. Thank u very much for your swift reply. You see you are repeating the problem-old generation Vs new generation. That is what the PFDJ is doing. I am not saying you are PFDJ. I know you very much so what you stand for for many years. So forgive me for that. What I am trying to say is that either directly or indirectly we are echoing what PFDJ would like to breath out. Where on earth have you ever seen a movement that does not involve old generation? in fact without them, most of the time the movement drifts into anarchy for young are innovative but not judgemental. True, movements are initiated by young generation but we always need some people who can see the situation justifiably. Look the civil wars all over the world. most of them lead by people with young age and low personality. Not because they are bad but they are young. Look the Arab spring-it was initiated by young but managed by over 60. So we need some people who can manage the movement and, they MUST MUST be over 50 and less than 70. Don’t give young generation a false hope. Politics is about history, economics, culture, diplomacy…etc. You know better than I do about Eritrean young generation. Although it is not absolutely their fault, they have passed through continues hurdle since our so called independence. So there are still naive when you come to world politics. Do you think they are ready enough to lead the country to success? I don’t think so!

      • Fikre August 7, 2014

Debesay medrek may be heavyweight in some important aspects but they have proven they are lightweight or rather nonexistent when it comes to the most important thing which is the desire to do the dirty work, that is to pay the price and liberate our people. tell me who wants to follow someone for cosmetic change? if you do not know ask but stop insulting Eritrean youth because they have always stood up against enemies.

Eritreans inside the country must see and understand martyred Wedi Ali ending as a temporary setback something to wake
them up and mentality prepared for the next round . It is not wrong to welcome the defeat as a way to make the struggle
stronger if we can only plant the seeds of future accomplishments in their failed attempt with brilliance . Him and
his comrades accepted responsibility for the failure and went straight for action to straighten up the mistakes .
If for the next few years our civilians and army on their own side have doubt about the cause , demoralization and
vulnerability to more disaffections will not stop . Problems spread when left alone and people especially the
un-experienced young age start to vision enemies everywhere around to find paranoia cloud the mind .
When a coward shepherd abandoned his livestock and capable men abandoned their people , they both face unpredictable fate .

Berokrok ; berkrok ; and berkrok behind the monitor in your comfy house and let some one else die freaking for you while freaking rise and educate your kids in the western country . f you are truly a man and have a ball and you think the change comes by the cost of price; you should start paying the price of the bill and we will follow you tocative.

    • AHMED OMER August 7, 2014

      without insulting zelalem
      To
be fair in someway you are right but on the otherway you are wrong why because fighting against oppressors it is by different ways and no all people fight if you go back to sixties and early seventies a lot of Eritrean were dancing with Ethiopians ( they like ANDINET )FOR example COMMANDOS because they were selfish .In where you are how do feel when you hear that THIRTY YOUNG ERITREANS have abducted by three or four RASHAIDA and made them hostage for ransom.Did get painful when you have heard that DEMHIT IS controlling Asmara’s people .everyone who live in west is not going to comeback but it is good to be with his people emotionally .

It is hard to communicate with some one who does not understand what is put in black and white or simple……. My friend, obviously you have a communication problem. We are not speaking the same language. We are at different level of understanding the issue at hand ((startospheric level difference). Please find a good free communication tutorial somewhere in google. It is helpfull and will open your eyes and ears. we can then discuss and communicate at the same level
