Dr. Bereket, thank you for your advice.
This is the moment we must come together to save our land and our people.
    The dictator must go!

    – His boss (Mubarak of Egypt) is thrown out of power.

    – His adored brother (Gaddafi) is facing worse fate then Mubarak.

    – The international community’s talking peace and carrying big stick [sanctions] is having an effect.

    – The Eritrean people are beginning to realize that there is no point in waiting for the regime to reform itself — that it needs to be overthrow. This is the moment we must come together to save our land and our people.
    Let freedom ring in Akeleguzay!

    Let freedom ring in Barka!

    Let freedom ring in Denkel!

    Let freedom ring in Hamasien!

    Let freedom ring in Sahil!

Let freedom ring in Semhar!

Let freedom ring in Senhit!

Let freedom ring in Seraye!
    Let freedom ring allover ERITREA!

    Z’kheberka Amanuel Eyasu,

I admire and applaud your pro-active stand where your overly-productive personality is an envy to an on-looker. When we asked you to invite Dr. Bereket for an interview to clear the apparent commotion, we knew we could count on you even though I particularly sort of got carried away with charged emotions. My generation grew up under the shadow of Dr. Bereket’s immensely powerful personality where his towering intellect and his profound intellectual acumen made such an impression upon us where we look up to him for a sound judgment when we as a people are in a crisis. In my university years, even though my area of expertise happens to be in the hard sciences, I read all the great books that are penned by Dr. Bereket where they range from scholarly works to historical novels. And I have to say that, if anything, Dr. Bereket seems to defy the baggages of an old age with a fountain of youth that springs from his immense love for Eritrea. I can’t wait to listen with earnest to what he has to say to the hearts and minds where Eritrea put her trust on (read the younger generation). Again, thank you for heeding our call.

The answer is we where stupid, even TV-ERe beleive still we are.
They didn’t know we are matured and open minded. Don’t expect them
to educate you as media unless to use you. Look other means to be well informed.
Always don’t beleive what you hear or read on any media but have an idea and analyze.

Thank you Dr Bereket for standing up, talking and doing the right thing. You are a man of integrity. You have spoken up against Haileselasie. You have stood up against Mengistu. and, you have stood up against the current tyrant in Asmara – the Hgdef regime. You are on the right side of history and a great inspiration to many.
You are a great role model to many young Eritreans, Ethiopians and Africans. Do you know that there are many young Eritreans pursuing higher legal education because of the constitutional making process you conducted in Eritrea?
By the way, I enjoyed your book “The Crown and the Pen” immensely. I can not wait to read your current new book. You have a great deal of literary skills and lot of sense of humour. It is a wonderful memoir and very funny.
My only regret about you is that you were unable to write as many books as possible, with the linguistic skills and literary gift you have. I know, you life and political obligations was not easy fighting African tyrants and autocrats.
I tell you, your life has been worth living, full of Shakespearean comedy and tragedy.

    Thank you

    Part 1
Bereket Habte Selassie-Head of Eritrea’s Quisling League

Definition: Quisling: (noun) a person who betrays his or her own country by aiding an invading enemy, often serving later in a puppet government; fifth columnist.

    By Sophia Tesfamariam
    October 01, 2007

Every country has its own “Quisling League” and Eritrea is no different. As a matter of fact, members of Eritrea’s Quisling League (EQL), like most other quislings, are motivated by fame and fortune. The most senior member of the group is Bereket Habte Selassie. The EQL is an unlikely alliance of arrogant, condescending, opportunist, pompous, and self-righteous individuals who live off the suffering of others. They have formed a smorgasbord of alphabet groups made up of dubious individuals with sordid records and pasts. They first made their appearances in cyberspace at about the time the Eritrea Ethiopia ceasefire agreement was signed. At that time I labeled them the Ds-as in defeatists, distracters, detractors and disgruntled diplomats and Uncle Tomists. Since then, their futile attempts to disassociate themselves from the agendas of the minority regime in Ethiopia and its handlers have proved to be an unsustainable political joke

    Part 5
Although Bereket Habte Selassie has held several high-level positions within the Ethiopian government, including Federal Supreme Court Judge, Vice Minister of Interior and the Mayor of Harar during the reign of Emperor Haile Selassie, he is mostly remembered for his role as Co-Chairman of the Inquiry Commission established during Menghistu Hailmariam’s brutal “Derg” regime (preceded the current regime led by Meles Zenawi). While serving as Attorney General in Ethiopia during the Emperor’s reign, he was also responsible for drafting the clause that enabled Ethiopia’s annexation of Eritrea, that triggered the 30-year long armed struggle for Eritrea’s independence.

In the early 70s, when Eritrean students in North America and around the world were leaving the comforts of their homes to join their comrades in arms in Eritrea, who were struggling for Eritrea’s independence, Bereket Habte Selassie went instead to Ethiopia. He said then that he was responding to “yenat ager tiri”-the call of the motherland. He left his job at the World Bank and returned to Ethiopia where he served as Co-Chairman of the Inquiry Commission.

  • abdi October 17, 2011

The purpose of the Commission was to investigate alleged corruption and breach of responsibilities by officials in Emperor Haile Selassie’s regime in the aftermath of the Ethiopian famines. While the record shows that he was appointed by the Ethiopian parliament, in absentia, to serve in the newly established Inquiry Commission, he says the late General Aman Andom prodded him to return to Ethiopia and serve the Derg regime. We will never know the truth.
On 23 November 1974, Aman Andom, a distinguished military officer of Eritrean descent, was killed in a gunfight in his home for refusing to sign on to a decision to deploy massive forces to crush the Eritrean struggle for independence and also for not approving the extra judicial killings of the individuals being investigated by the Inquiry Commission headed by Dr. Bereket. That same night, 60 members of the Emperor’s regime were taken from the wine cellar at the Palace to Akaki prison and machine gunned to death, and their bodies were tossed in freshly dug shallow graves.
Amongst the dead were prominent Ethiopian Ministers, civil servants, and decorated Army officers including Aklilu Habte Wolde who served as Ethiopia’s Prime Minister and Rear Admiral Eskindir Desta, the Emperors grandson.

    • Sawel October 17, 2011

you are just such a layer and fool you distorted the man history, what about fighting for Eritrea and he was also on of the selected once to draft the only Eritrean constitution. but when the your mater so the constitution, it only allows him for eight years as a president, he went mad and started war with Ethiopia to cover the facts and delay the constitution.
but this is clear now for the Eritrea because PIA him self said the is no election or he will never give up power.
so if you think you know, you idiot, if PIA dies today who is going to be your next leader with out constitution you will see civil war starting with HGDEF leaders for power straggle. because the don’t even challenge PIA in some key issues the only repeat after PIA. as that can be seen when PIA was in New york when he stand up they stand up, when he clap the clap so on.
have ever seen and HGDEF leader asking wahy is the national service to long, businesses closed, Asmara Uni close and US dollar not allowed freely. this is just a tip on the iceberg.
