There are a lot of suspicious Higdef activity is Red Sea, such as:

    – their relation wit Huthis (Yemeni branch of Hezbullah, known as AnsaruAllah)
    – smuggling goods from Saudi Arabia and Yemen to Sudan
    – giving fishing rights Egyptian companies
    – giving docking facilities on Eritrean islands to Israeli submarines of Kilo class
    …etc.

The defectors may shed light of some of these illegal activities.

Because we oppose HGDF regime doesn’t mean we blindly
support unproved accusations . Outside forces tried to
use Eritrea as scapegoat for their political agenda .
No need external enemies maneuver in our politics . At
the end of the day it is about our country and our people
and we won’t give them chance to complicate facts far out
      its proportion .

Brother, Higdef doesn’t care what happens to Eritrea when they are engaged in illegal activities.
They have zero concern for Eritrea’s image. Till we realize we have an enemy at home we will continue to find excuses for them and suffer at the same time.

I do not understand what type of evidence we expect to see when it comes to the suspected cooperation of the Eritrean regime with the Houthi of Yemen, as agents of the Iranian regime? Is it possible to imagine that the Houthi could have such a big arsenal directly from Iran without a transit stop in the neighborhood, later used as a springboard to smuggle the arsenal to Yemen slowly and in small amounts? Is it possible to imagine that all military skills their militia has demonstrated in the fighting to control Sana and the surrounding areas were only the result of training in the mountains of Sada, which is at the distance of throwing a stone from the Saudi borders? Couldn’t mass and continuous training (we are talking about something close to ten thousand or so) be detected by the Saudi intelligence that never fails to pick up the movements of a fly in that neighborhood? Couldn’t the skills of the Houthi militia show also some training in the sea and coastal areas too? One could argue why not the Somali ports that could be used as storage and training centers? In theory, yes, but practically, Somali ports and coastal areas are carefully monitored and totally open to any surveillance by big powers because of the weak control of the consecutive Somali governments and the records of illegal movements and activities seen at different times since 1991 and even before. All these make uninhabited Eritrean islands (in fact, they are too many in number) , collectively, an outstanding option for the gradual but sure transportation of arsenals from Iran for their accumulation in the areas having close proximity to Yemen, and their gradual smuggling into Yemen, in addition to being the sites for the military training of the Houthi militiamen. Why do we think that the accusations of Yemeni border guards and media, as well as other Arab circles (including a well-known journalist from the Arab Emirates), could be ruled out?

(TO BE CONTINUED AS A SECOND COMMENT)

          • Wadbahar February 7, 2015

            (CONTINUEDFROM PREVIOUS COMMENT):

The secretive nature of both the Iranian and the Eritrean regimes would make it very difficult for the evidence some of us want to see. In the absence of photos or documents presented as evidence some of us want to see, circumstantial evidence: information and testimonies of the people living in the Dahlac Archipelago are equally valid. It is true that we have many uninhabited islands, but we should also know that some of the islands are totally sealed off from the population of the surrounding areas, who are fishermen always in the move. This will take us to the question: What do the people in the inhabited islands (Dahlac kabir, Dahlac Saquir, Nukhra and others) say? Have we ever made a research if they have ever spotted people of different complex than the local population? Of course, it could sometimes be difficult to distinguish between Yemenis and local inhabitants (“Dahalika”) of our islands, but I do not think they could mistake an Iranian for a Dahlaki. Have they observed any suspicious movements in some of the islands? These are very valid questions we need to consider, when we seek evidence.

In short, the knowledge of the geography of the region, the realities we see on the Yemani ground, the secretive nature of the regimes involved (Iran and Eritrea), the destructive nature and policies of the Eritrean regime towards its neighbors (to destabilize and at the same time gain financial advantages), the repeated accusations from Yemen and other Arab circles, are among the factors that could permit one to make some indirect conclusions about the existence of cooperative relations in the developments in Yemen and the Government of Eritrea. Nobody said that the involvement of the Eritrean Government is confirmed, but many raised suspicions, and I am one among those who have strong suspicions to raise. But, at least, one is tempted to ask, and I am among those very curious to know: What is our interest in discouraging people to raise suspicions in this connection? Who benefits from that? Let those who do not have suspicions about the situation keep quiet; that is their right. But if I have some suspicions, nobody has the right to tell me to shut my mouth because I do not have evidence, taking evidence as only photos and documents.

We are all leaving the country, which is an excellent opportunity for Issais to carry on with his barbaric policy. But for us, it is just another painful life. It has become very embarrassing name to be called Eritrean.

The majority Africans wants to live abroad if they have opportunities.

So for eritrea ot has been win win thanks to hgdef. If you don’t believe my theory see the number of hgdef abroad.

  • AHMED SALEH !!! February 7, 2015

    Wadbahar , said
” Nobody has a right to shut my mouth ” .
I noticed you take the discussion too personal easily to get offended .
Myself , couple years ago after I read information in WIKI-LICKS about
ex-president of Yemen misleading accusations about Eritrea-Iran involvement
in regard of HOUTHI rebellion in search of assistance from SAUDI ARABIA AND USA ,
that was enough evidence not to believe or trust unproved word of mouth .

    • Wadbahar February 8, 2015

      Brother AHMED,

I have no reason to take anything personal or get offended, even if there was a reference to me, Sir. To begin with, there was no earlier comment from my part in this thread to which you had a remark. Your reply was to WediHager, by name. I could have used “WediHager” or “him” and “his” in my comment but I did not want to do that; just to avoid unnecessary personalization of things. But when I say,
“…nobody has the right to tell me to shut my mouth …” you should not take the personal pronoun “me” and the possessive pronoun “my” literally. It is only a figurative language meaning “anybody” or “anybody’s”. In other words, that was to say, anybody’s opinion needs to be respected (and here the implied reference was to WediHager’s opinion), and that we should not tell anybody or him to shut up. I hope this will make the point clear.

The second point is that the WIKI-LICKS should not be taken as words of the Gospel or the Koran to the extent of believing that any information that is not mentioned there is not true. I am not destroying anybody’s faith on the validity of the information they provide, but they are not the only source to consider. I am sorry to say you were a bit hasty on me, Sir. But that is fine, we are learning together, and I remain corrected if I am mistaken.

    Brothers Wadbahar and Ahmed,

A friend of mine who happens to be an Afar, who knows Karikari personally, told me when he visited Massawa, he saw some Arab foreigners who look like Rasahida with him. He said I think they were some Jebeli, they appeared to be there for business.

    • Wadbahar February 8, 2015

      WediHager,

Here you go! These are the circumstantial evidence intellectuals or research-oriented individuals would look for to reach a conclusion or at least to put valid question marks on certain suspicious situations that could serve them as points of departure in their further research, when circumstances permit. Just to share a concern we repeatedly hear from the indigenous population of the port city of Massawa, in line with the observation of your Afari friend, it is worthy of mention that it has become common to observe individuals praying in a Shia way in the mosques of Massawa, where there is no single Shia or in an area 100% Sunni. Where did these Shia come from? From Jupiter or Mars? One would ask how did the informants know if those individuals were Shia? Unlike many other Eritrean Muslims, the indigenous population of the Eritrean Red Sea coastal areas can tell, with absolute accuracy, whether an individual is a Shia or a Sunni by just observing how he prays. The reasons are clear for those who know the region and its history. The Eritrean Red Sea coastal areas used to host a big Yemeni community, and its geographical proximity exposes it to the Yemeni social fabric, religious sects, and the differences in their practices and beliefs. The remaining questions would be: What do they do there? What is the most probable business they are there for? All these, reinforce the objective ground for your suspicions about the presence of hostile activities going on in our islands, and promote the validity of your suspicions, bringing them closer to the status of evidence. Connecting all of these dots would make it clear that you did not write out of “blind hatred” as Mr. AHMED thought but out of solid objective basis. Then Mr. AHMED is cordially asked to withdraw the certificate of innocence he had issued to the criminal regime that can do anything illegal; with no ceiling to be expected from a ruling gang that has no conscience, no soul, or no national integrity.

The issues that remain unsettled are “the external enemies” and the “foreign agenda” Mr. AHMED spoke about. Expecting rigorous scrutiny by the readers, no responsible person can make such dangerous statements in the passing, without explaining to the readers what he really meant. With that in mind, I would ask Mr. AHMED to open our eyes, explaining who the “external enemies” are, what their “agenda” is, and what his fears for Eritrea are. If he cannot do that, I would take him parroting the PFDJ rhetoric of “external enemies” and “foreign agenda”, or the Dergue’s “Tarekawe Talatochachen”, without thought and understanding. Cheers!

      • AHMED SALEH !!! February 8, 2015

“Where did this Shea person came from ” ?
Sorry , I refuse to generalize people on my judgement based at the color of their eyes .
” Parroting the PFDJ rhetoric …. ” sounds
cheap shot to hear . But do not expect me to
sold out the interest of Eritrea as a nation
for outside influencIes because I believe our
differences is internal affairs which need to be
resolved among ourselves without intervention . Don’t let current situation invite complication
like others mainly in Middle East countries .

        • Wadbahar February 9, 2015

When are you going to learn how to quote your critics correctly? Is that dishonesty or lack of language skills? In either case, you are below the standard I accept to continue discussions with. Go back to school and learn the discipline of polemics before you try to chew what you cannot swallow. You cannot save Eritrea by defending a brute dictatorship and volunteering your services for it.

          • AHMED SALEH !!! February 9, 2015

            Wooow
Now I am confused to understand behind all of these foolish ,
            disrespectful and childish comments .
I don’t think it is worthy for negativity , ciao .

  • WediHagher February 8, 2015

“The reasons are clear for those who know the region and its history. ”

    Wadbahar

You are right. When the ousted Yemeni dictator (a Yazidi himself) was fighting the Houthis, he had asked help of Saudi Arabia to help Yemen control the flow of small arms to the militants from outside the region. The prime suspect of this was Eritrea.

    • AHMED SALEH !!! February 9, 2015

      WediHager
We like to see outsider enemies of HGDF because of our
cowardice expectation for hand out solution from either
      of them .

      • WediHagher February 9, 2015

Brother Ahmed, I am not looking for foreign intervention. That is neither my aim nor my wish. We Eritreans should take responsibility for our own problems and find solution that are purely Eritrean without any interference from any body. That said, understanding how the mafia network outside Eritrea is very important. It helps to dry the regimes’ resources.

        • Wadbahar February 10, 2015

          Brother WediHagher,

I wonder how you could manage to figure out the contents of the message above. I really appreciate your skills to decode and decipher a group of English words in a rambling mess that prevents them from giving a meaningful thought. I would say, “Ay Anchi Mariam,” and give up, or ask him if he could say it in another way. I pray for you: “Yateek Al Afia”.

    • Wadbahar February 9, 2015

      WediHagher,

Even last summer, I am sure you remember when the Yemeni border guards captured two boats loaded with weapons and ammunition at the Port of Mukha (the nearest coastal city to our side of the Red Sea). The Iranian and Yemeni citizens on board were arrested. Finally, the coward Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi, the resigned President, had them released in a very short period of time due to too much pressure from Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi (the head of the Houthi rebels) and the Iranian Ambassador to Yemen, before the investigation, sabotaged by the agents of the ousted Ali Abdalla Saleh in the security and the deep state, was completed. Thus the case was killed at its bud, and with it all top secrets and evidence about the shipments, the itinerary it took to Yemen, and the sides that had co-operated and facilitated that and other similar illegal activities, were totally destroyed. That meant reckless and intentional spoliation and total destruction of the evidence that could never be retrieved. This way, through this single act, the government of President Hadi failed to help his country, prevent or weaken the creeping counter-revolution and disintegration (even to a little extent), while failing to help Eritreans in knowing the facts about the shipments caught and the role of their evil government in giving the facility.

The pressing issues yet are: Why did the boats enter Yemen from Mukha? Doesn’t that show where they had been coming from? Can’t we see that the Eritrean butcher has close personal relations with the ousted President Ali Abdalla Saleh, the man internationally exposed (even by the U.N.) as the engineer and spear-head of the counter-revolution in Yemen and that those personal relations could have been capitalized in carrying out the counter-revolution that took the form of a Houthi coup? Cheers!

  • WediHagher February 10, 2015

It seems Yemen is now back to square one. The Houthis armed by Iran, and supported by those who wanted to use them against Islah and AlQaida, staged a slow but a successful coup. Now they control almost the whole country. Iseyas’ friends or should I say customers, have made big gains.
Time will tell whether they will manage to remain in Sanaa for long or go back to Saada.
