“ጅግና ስውእ ዮናስ ሽመንዲ ወልደማርያም፡ ንሸሞንተ ሰዓታት ተኣሲሩ ድሕሪ ምፍትሑ፡ ጸኒሖም ብረቱን ወተሃደራዊ ዕጥቁን ከረክብ ምስ ሓተቱዎ፡ ሓንሳብን ንሓዋሩን ኪጠፍእ ሙዃኑ ስለ ዝተረድአ፡ ብቐጥታ ብረቱ ሒዙ መጺኡ፡ ነቲ ገዛውቲ ህዝቢ ንኪፈርስን ንኣኡውን ተቓውሞኡ ስለ ዘስምዐ ንኺእሰር ዝእዘዘን ካፒተን ሙሴ ነጋሲ ዚተባህለ ሓላፍን፡ ነቶም ካብ ካልእ ጋንታ መጺኦም ዝእሰሩዎ ሰባትን ደሚርካ፡ ንሓሙሽተ ሰባት ቀቲሉ፡ ንኽልተ ካልኦት ኣቑሲሉ፡ ንነብሱውን ቦንባ ፈንጂሩ ብምሕላፍ፡ ጅግና በጃ ህዝቢ ተሰዊኡ! ዮናስ ሽመንዲ ወ/ማርያም ወዲ 29 ዓመት መንእሰይ ኮይኑ፡ ኣብ መበል 16 ዙርያ ኣብ ሳዋ ዝሰልጠነ ዋርሳይ እዩ። ስውእ ዮናስ፡ ብዓል ሓዳርን ኣቦ ክልተ ቈልዑን’ዩ!” ቃል ስሙር ደሞክርያሳዊ ግንባር ኤርትራ! እዚ መዘና ኣልቦ ትብዓቱን ተዋፍይነቱን ስለ ዝመሰጠኒ ድማ’የ፡ነዚ በጃ ህዝቢ ክቡር ህይወቱ ዝወፈየ ጅግና፡ ንኽብሩ ወየ! ክብለሉ ዝፍትን ዘለኹ።

ኣታ ወዲ ህዝቢ ኣንበሳ ኣናብስ
ቤት ቈልዓ ሰበይቲ መታን ከይተፍርስ
ህይወትካ ከፊልካ ዓማጺ ኪትቅልስ
ገዲዶሙኻዶ ደምካ ከተፍስስ
በቲ ዝርደኦም ስቓይና ኪትፍውስ
ነቶም ዘይስብኣውያን ኣቢልካዮም ምልዕስ!
ኣታ ነዛ ስረስ ኩሉ ደኣ ይዓጥቃ
ገሊኡ ኪፈትሓ ገሊኡ የዝልቓ፡
ንስኻ ግን ዮናስ እምብዛ ኣትሪርካያ
ልዕሊ’ቲ ግቡኣ ንስማ ኣድሚቕካያ
ሰብኣይ ሰብኡት ኴንካ ክብሪ ደሪዕካያ!
በሉ ኣቱም ልሙሳት ልኡኻት እቲ *ኣርዌ *ተመን፡ ከይሲ
ነዚ በጃ ህዝቢ ደሙ ዝኸዓወ
ምእንቲ ውጹዓት ነብሱ ዝበጀወ
ሞይቱ ከይትብሉዎ ኣብ ጉድጓድ ዝኣተወ
ኣብ ልቢ ኩልና ኣሎዎ ህላወ!
ንውሉድ ወለዶ ዘዪሓልፍ ስሙ
ህዝቡ ንኽጥዕሞ ንነብሱ ኣሕሲሙ
ሕድሪ ናይ ሰማእታት ብግብሪ ፈጺሙ
ዝሓለፈ ጅግና ገፋዕቲ ለኪሙ
እቶም ዕሸላት ደቁ መታን ከይዝኽትሙ
ነፍሲ ወከፍ ዜጋ ይፈጽም እጃሙ!
ኣነውን ከም ሰበይ ግቡአይ ክፍጽም
እታ ዝነኣሰትውን ሰሪሐ ክዓምም፡
ስድራኡ ክሕግዝ ዓቕመይ እናወፈኹ
ብስም እዚ ጅግና እምሕል ኣለኹ!
ቈልዓ ወልደማርያም ወድኺ ሽመንዲ
ጅግና ናይ ጀጋኑ ቅሰን ጎብለል ዓዲ
እዞም ገብርቲ እከይ ናይ ጀጋኑ ጉርዲ
ርሑቕ ከምዘይኮነ ዝቐርብሉ ኣብ ፍርዲ
ኣርዲእዎም ኣሎ ናይ ማይ ዕዳጋ ነጉዲ!
ኣንታ ዋርሳይ ጅግና ኣብ ንኡስ ዕድመኻ
ህዝብኻ ክግፋዕ ኣብ ቅድሚ ዓንኻ
ስለ ዘይጸወሮ ርህሩህ ሕልናኻ
ዓገብ’ዩ ኢልካዮም ዓጢቕካ ስረኻ
ስለ ዘይሰምዑ ግን ገፋዕቲ ህዝብኻ
መስዋእቲ ከፊልካ ጅግና ተበጂኻ
ኣይሞትካን ንኡሰይ ኣብ ልብና ኣለኻ!
ዝኽርን ክብርን ነዚ በጃ ህዝቢ ዝሓለፈ፡ ስውእ ጅግና ዮናስ ሽመንዲ!
ምስጋና ነቶም መስዋእቲ ጅግና ንህዝቡ ዝነገሩ ጀጋኑ ኣባላት ስሙር ደሞክርያሳዊ ግንባር ኤርትራ!

Tribute to a Hero – Yonas Shimendi Woldemariam
The Situation
A cruel and dictatorial government demolished people’s houses at wanton. One house, in many, belonged to a simple citizen, Yonas Shimendi Woldemariam. Not only that, they also arrested him for expressing his legitimate human anger. And the audacity of all audacities — the government’s ultimate deeming attitude upon the entire Eritrean population–they ordered him to return the arms and gears they had given him ,unbelievable as it may seem,to protect them!!! It is a ‘hurvy-turvy’ world of Eritrea
The Act of a Hero
To Yonas Shimendi Woldemariam,there is a limit to everything in Life. To him,this is that cardinal demarcation line. And the cruel lawless government trespassed that demarcation line. It was at this precise moment that Yonas Shimendi Woldemariam decided to sacrifice his dear Life–with deliberate awareness and consciousness of what he was about to do i.e.to challenge the illegitimate and savage government. He went to the military temporary quarter, with his head up, took the Life of a captain and others; and took his own Life right at the spot.
The Aftermath
Yonas Shimendi Woldemariam, a 29-year old ordinary citizen, family man with two young children, had to do what must be done to protect and save the dignity and honour of his children and family, and millions of Eritrean children and compatriots.Yonas Shimendi Woldemariam consciously sacrificed his precious Life for the people of Eritrea. Simple words, but infinitely a meaningful daring deed as a bright historical eternal torch light for future generations of Eritreans to come.
