But somebody somewhere has to initiate such issues that we Eritrean like talking about in private and we don’t want to talk in public. It is like talk about sex. It is clear, well articulated and above all (if I may dare to say so) well written Tigrigna sentence structures that is so refreshing. In my opinion, in general terms, it should be emulated by the young generation of TODAY – something that the so-called “modern” educated intelligentsia of YESTERDAY found it appropriate to reject their language and their heritage as – unbelievable as it is – not worthy to use it as their formal written language and lectures or addressing indigenous groups. It is a phenomenon of deep inferiority complex…….. I STOP
But, Taddesse (if I may be informal), I want to finish this note with my heartfelt opinion about the relationship of freedom of expression against the need to be civil in discourse. Both are of absolute necessity. But one should not infringe upon the other. Let me explain. You article is a reflection of your idea and opinion about a subject matter of your choice and does NOT have to follow anyone’s opinion regardless of stature or prominence. I thought you have gone beyond civilized necessity trying to explain that you have nothing against Dr. Assefaw as a person. Doing so would adversely minimize the effectiveness of your intended message in your article. As a reader, what I like to see is the rationality of the article on the subject matter at hand – not about personality. By the way, I have absolutely nothing against Dr Assefaw. Period!
