Tamirat: There is some truth in what you say. I don’t like the dirty politics they Awate team plays. Even in the asylum application his cousin Ali filed, they inviked a race card by saying Gebertis were discriminated. They they have been trying to agitate our muslim brothers for years. I am hoping that our muslim brothers don’t buy this crap and create animosity against their christian brothers. It would be bad for all of us. However, our biggest enemy remains to be Weyane and PFDJ. They are the clear and present dangers. Weyane continued to illegally occupy our territories and masterminding the flood of Eritreans out of Eritrea. They are the culprits of our disintegration. If you were truly concerned about Eritreans, you should have spoken about the evils of Weyane as a threat for our existence. But you are hear attacking our muslim brothers on daily bases. You aim is to stir trouble between muslims and Christians. You are an imposers. Please leave us alone and attend to your troubles in Ethiopia. If you haven’t noticed by now Hailemariam is building his power base in Ethiopia. Welamo and Dorze nationals are becoming in charge. It is a matter of time before they declare total independence from Weyane. It will not be in your advantage to disintegration Eritrea. we were there for tgray in the past when Mengistu was try to destroy you. Who will be there for you when Welamo and Oromo come after you?

I don’t like the dirty politics the Awate team is playing. They are playing with fire.
They are trying to agitate the Muslims community. They talk about past mistakes.
There may be some truth but even if it is true what is the point of dwelling in the past unless you
want to start trouble? The recent get together of the lowlanders was all about that and I advise my Muslim brothers to reject these self serving Muslim community leaders operating from the the west. They have gotten their families out of danger zone and now they want the poor Muslims in Eritrea to do their dirty work for them.

Even African Americans who were enslaved by the white has moved forward, but these retards are trying to take our people backward by invoking religious tensions. Weyane is a willing partner. Some of these operatives are working hand in hand with Weyane.

In his application for Asylum, Ali Abdu said he was discriminated because of his religion. The dude is a loco.
He contradicts himself in many ways, first he said, the military leaders were coming and begging him to work with them because they fear him and saw him as a the next for throne. How is the most powerful person get discriminated for his religion?

The truth is different, Ali abdu was behind the arrest of thousands of Christians languishing in PFDJ dungeons.
Muslims did not get discriminated or arrested in Eritrea because of their religion. Christians of the Evangelical domination on the other hand are persecuted in Eritrea.

I am hoping that our Muslim brothers don’t buy the crap Awate and their collaborators are trying to sale them.
They are working remotely to create animosity against Christian. Assena should also Ban Weyane agents who are roaming this forum to stir trouble between christian and Muslim Eritreans. It would be bad for all of us. Even Ethiopia will not benefit if Eritrea is broken up. In the long term east Africa can’t afford another Somalia. The Saudi terrorist and their criminal wing known as Alcaida are always ready to join and make life hell for peace loving people.

        rezen,
I am just curious how you could write this type of fluent English (I am referring to your response of my comment)? I get very jealous of your skill and I was wondering to know how you could reach to this level. So, if don’t mind me asking these:
        1) Do you carry a PhD by any chance? If you do, is it in Social or natural science related?
        2) If you don’t, do you read a lot? Or is your job requires you to write a lot?
        3) What is your advice to your brother Simon to get close to this kind of fluency? I read a lot but I didn’t go to college (my excuses are endless, as you might suspect) and I always suspect that could be the reason.

        • rezen June 15, 2014

          O’ Simon,
You really triggered an interesting point for sober discussion. Your simple request for an advice from a brother is what pricked my enthusiasm to expound an idea. Here I go! Bear with me.

You said you didn’t go to college, but read a lot of books. In my dictionary, you are already a PhD man – a man of philosophy. How so? Well, 1st) you know who you are; 2nd) you recognized and accepted your shortcomings; and 3rd) you are willing to look forward and upward to improve yourself for the benefit of yourself and your surroundings. Believe it or not, Simon, you made a profound statement which can only come from a healthy mind. Don’t short change yourself. Keep on being inquisitive with open mind. Never accept, at face value, what you hear, what you read and see, what you touch and even what you feel!!! An Eritrean child [for that matter, African child as a whole] never had the chance to develop his/her natural inquisitiveness. Sad to say, out of innocent ignorance, the caring and loving parents — as well as the so-called modern teachers — became the cause for permanent stagnation of the mind of the African child. I better stop – it is a mountain of a sad subject by itself and the cause for the deep ailment of Africa.

Back to the question of Degree: It is not the ‘title’ that matters. It is the mental acuity i.e. to be inquisitive, analytical, and differential of the seed from the chaff that matters most. Using the title (Degree) as a symbol of honour, only to impress the hapless in a society, is the saddest hall mark of African scholars. A famous African Professor of Economics at a western university calls African scholars (in his book) “functionally illiterate elites”! In other words, he continued, they have no common sense and wisdom; they only mimicked and copied whatever was said in their class rooms without any question. In my opinion, he is not far off. But for the doubters (who are, of course, absolutely free to be so) here is a question: What did the scholars of Eritrea — collectively or individually — achieved, in any field of endeavour, that made any difference to the poor population of Eritrea? Look around.

With the above lengthy introduction let me now go to the crux of the matter that I have in mind: ERITREANS in general.
Eritreans have fundamental problem. They are: a) excessively emotional without boundary; b) unaware of their true self; c) reluctant to face the reality of the present; and d) adamantly refuse to examine a new way of thinking for their own common good. Instead, they prefer to exhibit bravado and superiority complex as the only civilized nation in the neighbourhood! So much so, Eritreans have the most audacious attitude to call their neighbourly people of eighty million a mass of “donkeys” and more ugly labels!!! It is the most shameful behaviour that a society can display. Let me repost here a paragraph (as a mild example) from one of my commentaries:
“A well known professor of high academic stature was making a remark to a small gathering of colleagues about the absurdity of a great nation having been under uncivilized country like Ethiopia. An irritated American Sociologist asked the Professor a simple question: “what do you call screw driver in your language”. The Professor didn’t hesitate: “caciavitte”, of course! “But”, said the American with a glee,” that is Italian word”!!!
The Professor came down to earth and realized that the Ethiopians >>> ‘the savages, the uncivilized, the uncultured‘<<>> ‘I can’t help it’: Eritrea laments on its way to its grave! “

Another Professor, who had one of the highest posts in new independent Eritrea, was having a discussion with an old friend from the good old Ethiopia where both were born, bred and educated up to university level. In the course of the discussion the Ethiopian pointed out >>>”but you have a dictator in your own country!” To that, the proud new Eritrean, with all the emotion that entails, responded in these immortal words>>>> “ at least, he is our own dictator”!!! The Ethiopian didn’t respond— as his friend’s comment said it all. Over the years, when the whip of Issayas was rotating close to “home” the good Professor requested and received an exit visa on medical ground – never to be seen again.

On the surface, such behaviour would be mind boggling to others but in Eritrea there is a deep psychological reason for such an attitude. Eritrea has always been colonized by outside forces, thus Eritreans have never been in a position to decide for themselves by themselves – always subjugated to the whims and dictates of others. As time goes by, Eritreans (the victims) tend to own the alien’s culture, habit and language, almost completely ignoring themselves and instead posturing to be what they are not. It is an attempt to cover their deep inferiority complex by blind behaviour of superiority complex! In short, it is a perfect denial of thyself. After that, it is: ‘oromai, addio’.

After thirty years of adventure of war, at a horrendous sacrifice, for concocted reason of “independence”, Eritrea finds itself in a solitary state not knowing what, where and which way to go – except to hallucinate about becoming the Singapore or Japan or Israel of Africa. It didn’t work. Hence, Eritrea must find a new game to occupy itself. No problem! There are always the three debilitating cancerous diseases to rely upon for fighting i.e. inter ‘brotherhood’ pull and push struggle on religion, provincialism and racism – a full time occupation in a land where human life and time have no meanings. At the risk of elongating this commentary, I wish to mention an example, for an umpteen times, what a prominent commentator, in a popular website, said about the highlanders of Eritrea. Please note the tone of determination and a clear goal:
“if neo-Nazi kebessa land grabbers wish to go to mama Ethiopia they can do so, leaving our Eritrea to us” This is not a joke; it is a deeply felt belief based on religion. T he Muslims must have the whole pie because they know quite well that “Eritrea” without Kebessa is meaningless in the modern world. Here is what another blogger wrote: “In Eritrea the majority are the Muslims and therefore it is not right for the minority to govern the majority”. The whole message is centered on one idea: This time around, the Muslims will have to govern Eritrea”

OK, Eritrea, take it or leave it or deny it but be happy forever and ever.

          p.s.
Simon, with your understanding, I deliberately avoided your questions about me. Instead, I wish to continue this (and other) dialogues based – not on personality – but purely on substance, logic and, above all, civilized exchange of ideas. That is the ONLY way to fruition. By the way, please keep on reading – with critical eye.
          THE END

rezen: I completely agree with you on the above comments you made. I admit, I never thought that there is a soul on this planet who is smarter than Eritreans. That’s what we have been told, and that’s what my friends and I echoing that phrase, every time we meet. BTW, some of these friends work for high tech companies, in silicon valley. There is one guy who still believes the same (you can guess: he is still crazy isayas follower). So, when we meet, from time to time, the rest of us already came back to earth but this guy is still in between Mars and earth. Last time we met, one of our common friend asked him “how many Eritreans in the company you work?”. He answered very fast and said, just him and he also added, isn’t that the same on your side as well? He didn’t realize that his answers and his belief are not syncing. All he got from us was just a smile.
However, rezen, it seems that we have learned though (with few exception). And, I would say that is a good thing.
If you know your problem, I think that is half of the solution.
On that English fluency question, I wish you have answered it. One thing I noticed btw, people with social science background speak and write much better than with Engineering background (with few exceptions, like Fitsum Abraham, etc.). This is not a guess, I have sampled enough data 🙂

Mr/Mrs. hmmm.. It seems you just walk up now or you just don’t care about Muslims. You stated

“Muslims did not get discriminated or arrested in Eritrea because of their religion. Christians of the Evangelical domination on the other hand are persecuted in Eritrea.”

This is far from reality, just to give you a lesson, back in 1994 and 1995 over 700 innocent Muslims were arrested and persecuted for no reason. They were picked up from Asmara, Keren, AdiKeyh, Mendefera, Hagat,Afabet and Massawa and other Major Eritrean cities. None of them returned back to their families. You need to realize everyone in Eritrea has been the victim of Hgdef. We have to stand together, none of the gangs represent any part of our society and religions. Let’s make all responsible for their actions.

we are fortunate to read this document that Ali Abdu and the authors, i.e. his family in Awate web site concocted. His brother Salah Yonous and his cousin the notorious Salih Gadi thought this document would remain private legal information for half century but they were all exposed in public view for the whole world to see by the Australian Immigration department’s computer glitch.

No retard kezab Wahid can save the criminal Ali Abdu Yonous from the mess he helped create in Eritrea. The information posted here was available in the Australian government website inadvertently released, like many asylum documents, therefore, Assenna used the same information Ali Abdu used to apply for asylum that was released to the public.
To remind the readers, Ali Abdu used to terrorize Assenna stringers in Asmara by forcing them to divulge their e-mail passwords; sending and torturing them in Adi Abeyeto and Sawa; and many assenna listeners were jailed and tortured by Ali Abdu because they were caught listening Radio Assenna.
The Ali Abdu that was sending young Eritrean journalists to the executioners and torture camps is now shamelessly gambling to use the cards of “Islam” and the sub group name “Jeberti” to claim asylum. This is the same person who is responsible in the massacre of the ethnic Kunama people in Mai Dima alone.

We welcome the review into how the breach occurred, and the privacy commissioner’s announced investigation.”

    • Simon G. June 13, 2014

      Geja,
My advise to is to stick to the subject – which is Ali Abdu in this case. He can use what ever excuse that he thinks elaborate/strengthen his case. However, he represent himself and only himself. You can’t blame any Moslem (or specific Jeberti).
Isayas is a christian (that is questionable but let’s give him the benefit of the doubt) highlander because he came from a Christian family and this guy is very notorious person. Because of that reason, can you blame many Christians? No siree bob, No. You can’t even blame his direct family. It is of no ones fault but his. Yo usee my point?

  • hmmm June 13, 2014

Rezen: I read the comment you recommended. Indeed there is similarity to what I had written. In a country like Eritrea where the population is equally divided across religious lines, it is a grave error to stir religious troubles. Awate website has been an outlet for the Mulism fundamentalists to spew hate against Christians. They labeled Christians as highlander chauvinists, tigrigha, kebessa etc.. They have been trying to create the us against them image. Obviously these wanna be Arabs are masterminding a sinister plan to stir trouble amongst our population. They are making a wrong calculation. They believe if a fight broke up between Muslim and Christians, they will be in charge of the Muslim fundamentalists movement. It is all about power and money for them. As you read from Ali Abdu’s application, he tried hard to smuggle out his remaining family members. That is probably the only reason they delayed their open declaration for a war against Christians. We have to teach our Muslim brothers to reject these bunch of perverts. Isayas is a cancer for Eritrea and he has infected all Eritreans. But I have to give where credit is due. Isayas did not divide us across religious lines. In fact most of his disciples are Muslims. But when he is cornered like ghadafi I am sure he will also try to use religion and ethnic card. So We the Christians, Muslims, Serai, Hamsen, Akele, keren, Gashbarka…or wherever we are or whatever faith we have, we should reject politicians who try to manipulate us to promote their self serving agenda. We should reject all politicans and let us unite with our old banner, hade hezbi, hade lebi…and demand power to be given to the mass.

  • hmmm June 13, 2014

Simon: Geja, Tamirat, Belay and the rest of Tigrigha speaking Ethiopians are the cancers. They have purpose to be here. They are paid by Ethiopian intelligence service. If you look around they spend all day along writing comments in every discussion. That is their job. They are impostor sent to divide us. In my opinion they are here to accomplish two purpose.

    1. They want to replace PFDJ with a puppet government who would allow them to give them Assab with a fake separatist movement they put together as Afar movement

    2. They are afraid Eritreans may allow Egypt to invade Ethiopia because of the Blue Nile project. So they are trying to create a division between our society. They want the highlander to be the first line of defense against Egyptian invasion of Ethiopia.

  • hmmm June 13, 2014

Amanuel Eyasu: Wasup? you start moderating my comments now? have I written something you didn’t like? are you bothered by my raw honesty and openness? isn’t that what Assena is all about?

  • hmmm June 14, 2014

Sam: Muslims did not get discriminated in Eritrea just because of their religion. As far as I know Christians of the Evangelical domination were unfairly persecuted in Eritrea for practicing their religion. That doesn’t mean Muslims were not victimized by Isayas. PFDJ gangs have targeted everyone who oppose their ideology. They may have designated a specific group of Muslims as terrorists and arrest and kill them. But that is not the same as persecuting the religion altogether as they did to the Christian of Evangelical domination (pente) just for practicing their religion. If we begin to count, Christians are the majority of the victims of PFDJ, but it make no sense to say Christians are victims when we could say Eritreans are victimized. In my opinion, Muslim or Christian, Akele, Hamasen or Serai, we are all Eritreans. We shouldn’t try to define ourselves with our religion, tribe or location. We Eritreans of all faith are victimized by PFDJ that is all.

    • Tamrat Tamrat June 15, 2014

I think you are a good person With good intention (you oppose pfdj and awatenians) but Your label of education and deprivation of eritrean reality is not allow you to communicate well. So i advise you to read other News papers, contact eritreans from different walk of lives, without being biased.

  • hmmm June 15, 2014

Tamirat: come out and admit it. I speak the truth and truth hurts. I don’t have to go around and look at the plights of specific tribes or faiths to understand the crimes of PFDJ. PFDJ has no religion. Isayas may go to orthodox church to pretend. But he is a known devil worshiper. He believe in black magics and witchcraft also known us (Tenkulay in Eritrea). PFDJ members have no respect for any religion. That is why they dismantled those sacred institutions and turned them in to a tool they control to brainwash the mass. The religious leaders for all faiths in Eritrea including Orthodox, catholic and Islam are hand picked by PFDJ and their prime purpose is to serve the state. We have to realize PFDJ is a cancer and we have to work together to replace it with a popular movement. But as Ethiopian agent you should realize that you are digging your own graves when you divide our society on ethnic and religious lines. Global jihadists will happily join our lowland brothers, the western powers and UN will side with highlanders and Eritrea will be a failed state like Somalia. That means Ethiopia will not have any buffer zone. The Muslims in Ethiopia will be targeted next. It will be the end of Ethiopia as we know it. So I advise you to advise your government to foresee the future and stop messing with the wrong tree. It could fail on a power line.

    • Tamrat Tamrat June 15, 2014

As i told you, you are far away from facts. The problem With you is just because you say something you think they just turns out to be facts. For example i am not woyane, i dont support tplf, i can not be a member of tplf because i am not tigre. Idont support ethnic politics based on promoting one ethnic Group be it amhara, oromo or tigrinya. I dont believe on unity or cessesion on sacrificing the weaker group. If we have to separate also we have to do it in humaneterian and civilzed way. (for a layman like you i tell you this put the border line wherever you wish but Your politics never puts 200,000 sildeiers between one ethnic gorups, you got it). You may ask why tplf is not as dull as pfdj. The reason is simple. It is the result of 23 years sacrifice because we resisted ( you just simply compare the sacrifice made in ethiopia since 1991). We did not Dance With eplf/tplf though we were happy derg was removed. Anybody who removed derg doesnt mean neccessaryl correct all the time. And this will be a lesson for you. We are not satisfied With Our result but we are proud that tplf is better than eplf. Any one who oppose pfdj doesnt neccessaryl good for eritrea. We say no for attacking ethiopia in the name of derg to tplf/eplf because we relay on Our relationships, history and the reality on ground. Fro ethiopians specially dancing With eplf broguht 1998 and its all consquences. We have to give respect for all who sacrificed to destroy derg but not mis use it to destroy Ethiopia.

One fact you have said correct. What ever happenes in Eritrea affects Ethiopia, see what is happning daily. And that is the reason i am here. If it were not for eplf/tplf saga it was not ethioipians plan to put Our throat on Djibouti’s sward. We felt secure regardless what happened with Eritrea if you know what i mean. If tigrians live in ‘Peace’ With the rest of Ethiopians what the hell is the problem the rest of eritreans ethnic Groups could live in Peace With the rest of Ethiopians? If tigrians could live in Peace With the rest of Ethiopians, do you think the same afar/kunama/tigrinya People have difficulty to live together?

I will ask you this simple question:
Do you think the so called eri-afar gather all possible weapons to eliminate the so called ethio-afar?

Do you think the so called eri-tigrinya gather all possible weapons to eliminate the so called ethio-tigre?

Do you think the so called eri-Kunama gather all possible weapons to eliminate the so called ethio-kunama?

My answer to you will be No, No, No.

    • Tamrat Tamrat June 16, 2014

So you mean it is always the brithish, the un, the us, the Arabs, the jihadists! You are a good entertainer, if i concider that you have some sort of intelect at all.

  • hmmm June 15, 2014

Tamirat: you kept insulting my intellect although you don’t know who I am or you have no records of my IQ level. If you equate English writing skills to intellect you are gravely mistaken. If we use that as a measuring stick, all the rocket scientists from China and Russia are dummies. But to go back to your points, you have indirectly auggested you are Amara (although you wrote Amhara just like a tigrigha speaker would pronounce it)

Going back to the point you made, I agree with you TPLF is better than PFDJ. TPLF was challenged from the start so it had to make changes to silence crying voices. But, Eritreans idolized Isayas that made him feel he was untouchable.

The true solution for both Ethiopia and Eritrea is a popular uprising to replace EPLF/TPLF with real democratic governments. Introducing an ethnic and religious based tensions in Eritrea and Ethiopia will have a long term negative consequence for the region.

Look what happen to Pakistan, they thought they were playing games. On one hand, they took money from US to invade Afghanistan on another hand they gave shelter to those same terrorists. At the end,Pakistan is now victimized by the same group of terrorists they helped create.

I advise Ethiopians to stop playing with fire by creating, arming these so called Afar & Kunama movements. The good book had said evil begets evil. The long term interests of Ethiopia will not be secured by disestablishing Eritrea.

    • Tamrat Tamrat June 16, 2014

Ok, mr Rocket scientist i quote you from Your Laboratory journals: ‘Simon: Geja, Tamirat, Belay and the rest of Tigrigha speaking Ethiopians are the cancers’. If i quoute what you say about the Young eritreans fleeing their country, then you know who is advertising his inteligence.
