Nine members of the Eritrean National Football team, including the head coach Mr Omer Ahmed and team captain Haile Goitom abandon the dictatorial regime in Eritrea seeking political asylum in Kenya.

Two of them confirmed to demo.archive.assenna.com on the phone about their decision not to go back home to Eritrea. Samson was not able to continue his conversation, while another player who didn’t consent his name to be made public said “the endless national service, extreme repression and lack of freedom” was the main reason for his decision.

The Eritrean National Football team has been to Kenya to participate in the regional annual Cecafa competition.

Although the regime tried its best to minimize defection by calling many Eritrean semi and non professional players from abroad into the team, it couldn’t escape the embarrassment it faced for several times.

Two of the payers have been in hiding before the completion of the tournament, while the remaining 7 have just followed them.

12 members of the Eritrean national team have defected last year in Uganda, after participating in similar regional tournament. Almost all Red Sea football club players have also done the same prior to that.

As long as there is no better income the exodus to a better living standard will continue. The eritrean cyclist will not run from their country because they are in better income condition. It is all about rebha. Simple.

The love of a nation is dear but an nation without freedom is wors than prison. Our national players love their country more than anyone of us but they can’t sastain continued enslavement and a future without a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope all goes well for each and everyone of them

Message to supporters in the Diaspora: please go back to Eritrea and replace all those who are defecting. Issayas with his party need you to fill in the vacancies that are being created daily for National service.

Or Join your brothers and sisters who are in the right side of history who are working hard to bring democracy in Eritrea.

They need water, food, healthcare, education and a steady job. That’s more important than democracy. Democracy is a process that takes time and no nation has perfected it.

Why is it continuously happening? Is it not because of the following reason too !?

President Obama Speaks at the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting. September 25, 2012

<< I recently renewed sanctions on some of the worst abusers, including North Korea and Eritrea. We’re partnering with groups that help women and children escape from the grip of their abusers. We’re helping other countries step up their own efforts. And we’re seeing results !!!!. >>

If Obama is partnering with the traffickers on top of them must be the notorious general of the mafia regime Tekhlay Nejes.

Demhit are the last option for the dictator to form a new national team to represent him in the continental and international competition as he deployed them in Asmara and its surroundings to guard him and to perform the round ups for the slavery service.

  • Truly Truly i say to you December 9, 2013

Bravo colonel Omer Ahmed! Please apologize me for i tried to belittle your carrier. You may know the reason not i personally distrusted you, but because i hate the regime and i frustrated by evil regime did it was. I love you all guys. Your defection has a greatest impact for downfall of the regime. You are the true sons of Eritrea.

Yes Essayas has newer troops from Ethiopia called “Demhit” but he thinks the people does not know who they are. They have given them a name “Amiche” because they don’t speak Eritrean Tigrigna. The Eritrean people are sick and tired of Essaya’s dictatorship. Go player Good Luck on your future. Let the people who are in the big prison named Eritrea suffer. Freeedom to all!!!!!!
